She threw it too hard. Common mistake for a first time flyer. It needs a gentle push to get it up to flying speed. The propeller takes over from there.
You can repair it with tape. You can reinforce the underside of the leading edges of the inner wing panels with tape to strengthen them.
Also, hold the plane close to the nose when winding. Gives you better control.
