Please allow me to correct one very important fact about Bangladesh. Father of the Nation is late Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, NOT late Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman. Please refer to Wikipedia which happens to be most unbiased source for information. There you will learn CORRECTLY about the REAL father of Bangladesh. It’s more like national shame and tragedy how most Bengalis simply ignore the fact of those two individuals’ contribution to Bangladesh.
One was unselfish, HONEST, humble and pious being who had dedicated his life only to serve his countrymen and other one was for power, AUTOCRACY & MONARCHY. We as Bengalis will NEVER prosper in this world until we learn, admit and pass on to our next generation about the REAL father of our country, Bangladesh.
these ppl were the freedom fighters. they loved their country so much. sheihk mujib was a great leader no doubt but he become a dictator. now at this 2012 we see what is the BAL running the country by destroying the econics, severe corruptions , also sheikh hasina is a dectator too in the name of democracy.maay allah bless their departed soul
@warfalcons None of these murdering-bastards were 'freedom fighters'... most of these motherfuckers returned from Pakistan after the War was over... few of them participated in the War as agents of Pakistani ISI (motherfuckers like Dalim) and never held weapons against the genocidal Pakistani regime...

I am new to this conflict, If someone wouldn't mind and has the time would you explain to me in a short para what happened and to whom? I sorta got some of what the officers said and the person interviewing them. Any help would be greatly appricated. Thank you and may GOD bless. Bear
@batemanterry The so called " Liberator " Mujib was a ahero before the war, but after the war like any other power hungry politician dog, mujib became a dictator and and banned all political parties....just like hitler. Consequently, these fine army officers killed him.
@Sukoi49 yes because there were many political parties that still served for pakistan...like the jame-e-islami they were a subsidary of the islamic political parties in pakistan all he wanted was no more corruption so he banned any other parties. And why should any other party rule bangladesh they did nothing for the liberation. they just sat there and allowed the constant discrimination and abuse forced by pakistan. yes bangladesh is still a corrupt country but its 10x better than before.
@Sukoi49 THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO EXPLAIN TO ME ABOUT WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN YOUR COUNTRY. IT IS GOOD TO HEAR THE TRUTH FROM ONE WHO LIVES IN THE NATION AFFECTED. MOST NEWS LINKS DO NOT REPORT THE TRUTH. I WISH YOUR NATION AND PEOPLE THE BEST IN THE NEW YEAR, ESPECIALLY THE ELDERLY AND LITTLE CHILDREN. MAY YOU ALL HAVE JOBS PLENTY AND MAY YOUR LIVES AND FAMILIES GROW DAILY! THANK YOU AGAIN. TAKE CARE ALWAYS!
Bangladesh was discriminated by Pakistan...they stayed poor so Pakistan could grow rich. they didnt allow us to have freedom, individuality even though we were complete different nations we have and always will be Bengalis even when we were called East Pakistan.
they didnt allow us to have our own language bengali which is like the 6th most spoken langiage in the world.. which led to Pakistan military killing protesters...language movement check it out...
@wagwan6248 THANK YOU MY FRIEND FOR TAKING TIME TO SHOW ME WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. I AM SORRY YOUR COUNTRY AND IT'S PEOPLE HAD TO SUFFER SO MUCH BEFORE YOU ALL RECEIVED FREEDOM. I HOPE YOUR COUNTRY WILL CHANGE AND THOSE WHO ARE CORRUPT WILL REPENT AND CHANGE. I WISH YOU , YOUR FAMILY AND ALL WHO LIVE IN YOUR COUNTRY THE BEST IN ALL THINGS. I HOPE 2012 WILL BE A YEAR THAT YOU ALL WILL SEE MANY CHANGES AND CHANGES THAT WILL BE FOR THE PEOPLE, NOT THE POLITICIANS. TAKE CARE!
we were treated unfairly no aid given to our natural disaster prone stricken land. which led to Sheikh Mujib rebelling and forming his own political party which won the majority votes for Pakistan which meant he was rightfully meant to be president.... the Pakistan president denied which led to war.
I am with these soldiers. They did the RIGHT thing by killing the TRAITOR to Pakistan and Bengali people: Mujeeb. It is unfortunate that many in Bangladesh have blinded themselves and are unable to see who he was working for. Many still consider India a friend from whose clutches, Pakistan was created for all Muslims. He incited feelings of people against the center. I wish he had worked for the betterment of unified Pakistan
bustard...son of dirty bitch....pig son, may Allah gives you the worst death. bustard, come Bangladesh, Bangladeshi dong wont leave u alive. Allah give him the worst death, that bustard killed a father of a nation, a god gifted charismatic leader. Father we promise we wont pardon these bustard.
@Amanbd2011 Allah(swt) will burn your MOTHERFUCKING Mujeeb in HELL before he would these soldiers. You IDIOTS open your eyes and ears and try to understand WHY these soldiers killed him? And they are giving you the reasons.
what happened to the first part of the interview. for whatever reason the first part of the interview does not match with our current psychological context. This is the mysterious hidden ideology of our world journalism we censors things to make it suitable for the audience.
A tribute to Tony Mascarenhas. Great journalism, regardless of which side of the political/geographical divide you are. By the way, I did not know that the ``lack of popular protests'' against the killings actually gave the coup some sort of moral legitimacy. Political expediency aside, the killing of the Sheikh's youngest child is unforgivable; or is it justified by the theory of `collateral damage'?
@2009ashokb Well that child would have grown up to be a junior Mujeeburahman, Remember the story of Khizr from Holy Quran?
I definitely think that "lack of popular protests" links with the realization of Bangladeshis that they made a mistake by following Mujeeb. That Mujeeb fooled them into believing that he was working for the interest of Bengalis. I still don't think the language issue was justified. It was an artificial issue brought to the lime light to gain some victories for Nehru
i suggest you guys dig up the history more....why do u think no one protested after mujib was announced dead on the radio...if this wasn't done you would never have a democratic nation!! It would be under total dictatorship....but they can't be forgiven for wiping out the whole family..

Sheik was negotiating with Pakis at the end. He surrendered himself to Pakis and waited to see if situation cools down. So he can be the Prime Minister of Pakistan. But India, Ziaur Rahman and Army people fought and bough Bangladeshi Independence. Pakis realized that there is no need to hold Sheik in Pakistan. So they released him. On the way Sheik forgiven 195 Paki Army war criminals. Who are freedom fighters?
Hindus who died in Bangladeshi soil, girls who were raped, innocent Biharis and Bengalis who died. My question is why Awami leadership ran to India to save their life when innocent people are butchered. These Mujib thugs were in Calcutta enjoying night life. After liberation all Awami League people became freedom fighters took control of the whole land and stole everything.
If some one watches Gandhi movie they can see Mujib was a goon with Suwardy in Calcutta riot which killed lots of innocent Hindus. Awami League hijacked Bangladesh's liberation. Sheik was a rabble rouser (Please check Wikipedia). and an opportunistic person. Now they do politics on the expense of poor people, over population, illiterate and thugs. Bangladesh have full of them. Now they became guarding on independence. If you not with BAL you a razaker. Strange country indeed.
@bayoubiju Apologies; is this opinion or fact gleaned from fresh research? I ask because this should open a new line of research, and besides ensuring a reappraisal of the interested parties (a.k.a. India, West Pakistan, the Sheikh, Bhutto and sundry politicians on either wing of the then Pakistan), also call for a re-examination of the timeline of the Sheikh's arrest and the purported declaration of independence.
@haqueize Can you please talk in a civilized manner to get your poni across. There is no reason for cursing and we don't understand what you are saying. Sorry. Go get some education. Bangladesh has full of rubbish like you.
