When I was in the Army, I used to LOVE it when id run into an old talkative vet at the VA hospital. I broke my knee in a dirt bike accident and spent ALOT of time at the VAH. These guys would freely tell their amazing stories to some young soldiers and you could tell that they were just itching for an excuse to get away. I never did understand that. personally, I find this stuff incredible to hear and of immeasurable value. God, I could listen to my grandpa for hours.
@AKMauldin Same way you uploaded this video. Before YouTube only limited 10 minutes, now they don't limit anymore as they gives everyone unlimited storage/minutes to upload, which that means you can upload 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or so hours of video.

Oh, and I forgot to mention how he looks pretty cute back then too! Now he's still cute, but the old people type of cute, ya'kno? I'm not a creeper or anything!
Aw this was a really good interview! Why don't you post the full vid? D:
The only problem I had was hearing what he was saying, I'm not used to listening to old people talk. Other than that he seems like such a nice guy, funny even! Haha. I think old people are so cuutee with all their wrinkles and what not. :D
i love playing COD but I don't want another war. ww2 is enough already. It's touching to see these old heroes tell their stories and awful(coz war brings destruction) adventure in the past.
im 16years old and i feel like crying while watching this video. I just cant imagine what he and all the other amazingly brave men had to see and go through. I cant believe an amazingly kind and humble person can proudly talk about his experiences and i cant decide if i wanna go into the military or not just because im scared. If any veterans of any war are reading this, you truly are my heroes and i thank you every day.
It's a damn insult to know that the new generation don't give a shit about these guys. I'm 19, I have always been interested in the military and I think the new generation sucks. Maybe my mindset is older than my actual age, I'm not sure. If I met this guy I'd shake his hand.
@locsaretheshit Amen! I'm 19 too, and my grandfather, on my dad's side, was in the army air corps just like Jim Ryan here. He went all the way from North Africa, through Normandy on June 6th, 1944, to the fall of Berlin in 1945. I never got to meet him, but my dad says he would have loved to talk to me as much as I was curious about WWII. My dad is a retired lieutenant colonel from the army. He served 23 years. I am going to go in as well after schooling. But I agree with you fully about our
@locsaretheshit generation. It is terrible. People don't appreciate these veterans as much as they should. If everyone could travel back in time to see what really happened, everyone would have a different mind set about everything. Like you, if I met this man, or any veteran for that matter, I'd shake all of their hands.
@locsaretheshit Im 16 I agree, I feel bad for our new generation who "literally" makes fun of the 9-11, family guy and all those tv shows are funny but when they start baggin on vets, 9-11 etc i turn it off. People dont understand these men fought for our lives. If they lost the U.S. would not exsist. We should apriciate every breathe they take. Its a damn shame that no one has american pride any more...
he seems like a great guy, i just spent the weekend talking to my grandpa who is a vietnam veteran, he was the medic and he was talking about how brutal it all was, and he was injured by a grenade, he didnt like when i told him i was joining the army, he wants me to join the marines:)
@zombiekiller1956 haha nice, after high school im going to boot camp to become a sniper and while im there im going to do college studies for the military science field for after my term is over
this seems like a nice guy, i just spent the weekend talking with my grandpa who is a vietnam vertran he got injured by a grenade and he was talking to me about it because my dad told him of my plans to join the army, he thought it was a bad idea, he wants me to join the marines:)

@RedlipstickGool This is why I have my comments set to display only if approved. Sometimes people make idiotic remarks and I don't want that.
