@13andincradiblycutt No that's not the reason. You have back up for a call like this so there are witnesses to the woman's behavior and her failure to pass the sobriety assessment. Having the camera recording often isn't enough because some defense attorneys will find a way of getting recordings suppressed. Also, skinny, drunk women can hurt you just as badly as big fat drunk men.

I don't know why American police just dick around with sobriety tests. Just breathalyse the woman and be done with it.

@WorldSacred Defense attorneys is why. It used to be that a field sobriety test was good enough but when the tests were challenged in court the breathalyzer was developed. When that resulted in too many convictions defense attorneys found ways to challenge the machine. Same thing happened with blood draws. Police have to use every technique to get drunks off the road.

@twobluehorses Why bother challenging a breathalyser test? They take blood tests after that to determine the accuracy of the blood alcohol content, and convict on the basis of how much you have had in your blood stream. Police around here hate having their time wasted, so I can't see why American police would fart-arse around with sobriety tests.

@WorldSacred Breathalyser tests are challenged as are field sobriety tests & the police do both (though I don't know if ALL American LE do both) to cover the challenges/objections the defense will raise in their clients' behalf. This may not be the case in your country but those are the rules we have at the present time. Personally I'd go for a mandatory blood draw anytime anyone even smelled of liquor but I wouldn't want to pay for all the jail cells we'd then need.

@onemoehit That was how I passed my DWI Test. I have a cyst in back of my brain which is terminal. And, I cannot do the tests. I do not drink alcohol due to that. So cops always give me breathilizer. Cops always say "Fuck your the only one who ever fucking tells the truth anymore". Which is pretty negative to all the people cops pull over.
