You'd think Frasier and Niles might have noticed Hedley's Father's uncanny resemblance to John Steed, given their admiration of him in their youth! ;-)
Jackson Hedley is played by Derek Jacobi, who is actually an extremely well-regarded stage actor (among other things), to say the least. He has been apart of numerous Shakespearean productions (among other things). His performance in this episode is probably more hilarious if you are familiar with his works; a deliberate mocking of his Shakespearean background by playing an incredibly untalented Shakespearean actor. I believe he won an Emmy Award for this episode.
@darkpyronl I didn't notice him but the other old man is Derek Jacobi, one of my favorite actors - ever since he starred in I, Claudius thirty years ago.

OK, this is the greatest living Shakespearean actor - doing BAD Shakespeare. EVERY Bad Acting thing in the book. When I first saw this TEN years ago, I fell off my couch laughing. One of the greatest performances I have ever seen.
Grammer is as good an actor as any I have seen - he would be better in Shakespeare than Olivier, Richardson, Gielgud etc. Sometimes I think Frasier (the show) is anti-arts.
This is the best episode of this season. Thanks iamericanright, now I can sit back and relax as I rewatch the entire Frasier series for the third time :)
I think the writers kept adding various sci-fi elements into the show as an inside joke. Kesley Grammer once guest starred on an episode of 'Star Trek The Next Generation' in the episode called Cause and Effect.
Another very great show. I love the fact that these episodes are all in one segment. It makes for a great viewing of one of the best shows ever to hit the airwaves. Thank you for all of your efforts.
HEadley was actually rather good in a very funny way. He tried to sound like an actor overacting and turned out funny which is the point. Well done, Hamlet.
I respect how a great number of Frasier episodes don't actually have a conclusion, merely the characters' acceptance of the situation they've found themselves in and they leave the rest for us to decide... brilliant work on the writers' parts.
@jimbobjimminy One time I saw Patrick Stewart and I went up to him to tell him I loved his work. His first response was "In what?" and he seemed a bit angry. I can only commiserate, imagine being a Shakespearean actor and everyone coming up to you telling you they love you as Picard. I had a conversation with him after I mentioned I saw him in a play one time, and he was a really, really nice guy.
I wonder if the writers of this episode had Christopher Plummer and his role in Star Trek - The Undiscovered Country, in mind when writing this. The parallel is there certainly, although Plummer is differently a talent.
There will never be another show like "Frasier". I can't believe it's been off the air for 6 years! RATFLMAO @ Maxshard! Please, tell me you're not serious! I merely caught this episode because I heard about Sir Jacobi being in it. Most definitely. However, the copyright falls under the Fair Use Act. As long as the use of intellectual property causes the copyright owner no harm, it may be used. WMG hasn't complained about it doing so, which is why these videos have been allowed to be displayed. If, however, they do something such as release a new DVD set of the eps, I'd be notified to delete them, as then sales could be affected.
the fair use act is quite clear ... in a nut shell, as long as i am making no monetary gain nor harming that of the copyright holder (who is not kelsey grammer, by the way) then the intellectual property may be displayed. If the copyright holder (either warner or wmg, i forget which) has a problem, they will let me know and either restrict viewership (as Universal did with my animal house upload) or the video would be requested to be deleted, which I would do immediately.

Is Frasier no longer copyright?
McSwan1 2 years ago
Most definitely. However, the copyright falls under the Fair Use Act. As long as the use of intellectual property causes the copyright owner no harm, it may be used. WMG hasn't complained about it doing so, which is why these videos have been allowed to be displayed. If, however, they do something such as release a new DVD set of the eps, I'd be notified to delete them, as then sales could be affected.

do u own the rights to frasier or do you post these because you hate kelsey grammar, due the fact that he's a conservative??

the fair use act is quite clear ... in a nut shell, as long as i am making no monetary gain nor harming that of the copyright holder (who is not kelsey grammer, by the way) then the intellectual property may be displayed. If the copyright holder (either warner or wmg, i forget which) has a problem, they will let me know and either restrict viewership (as Universal did with my animal house upload) or the video would be requested to be deleted, which I would do immediately.
