I don't hate Modern Sonic for his design or for the fucking green eyes, I hate the physics of Sonic 4, I hate the boost of Sonic Rush/Unleashed, but I loved Colours.

Me? I played StH through StH&K for the first time less than a year ago at the age of 17, 18 now. Fan? No idea. But they're fun games that capture the good old video game feeling.

I honestly think people need to ignore this game if they DO hate it, Sega themselves said they were just giving us a taste of what they may have planned for further episodes. @eddylugia I thought Sonic Colors showed that Sonic was coming back, plus his Unleashed design is like a mix of his modern design and his classic design to me. It really is my favorite look for the blue blur. I hope his 20th Anniversary will be a great game, he really deserves it.

IMO, the new sonic looks fine. Sega are sort of taking a little risk by making this game, because 1, many will complain about Sonic's eye colour. 2, people these days don't really like 2D games nowadays, they like 3D games. So Sega is trying to thank it's fans. I can't wait to download this game on my 360. Sonic FTW!

It took me awhile to see that this edited theme SUCKED. It sounds nothing like the other Sonic themes did and it hurts my ears. I mean, where's the fake snare drum? The semi-techno? This sounds really sucky.

And as for this "new character" bullcrap, what was the old character? When describing the "character" of 90's Sonic, all we have to go off is some description and maybe five lines of dialogue from old instruction manuals!

@tacoman422 The problem is that this sprite isn't even limited to this game. This sonic was chosen purely to appeal to newer fans to help them identify with the newer games. If it was meant to be a traditional sonic the hedgehog like Megaman 9 and 10 or Contra Rebirth why was this done? These cost next to nothing to make and newer fans would have still gotten the game. It's a lack of respect for the older generation. George Lucas syndrome. Sega has become nothing but leeches.

Sonic advance 3 is a better game. If you're going to call a game "sonic the hedgehog" that's what it needs to be. This should have been called "new sonic the hedgehog" not 4 which insinuates sameness. Like nintendo did with new super mario bros (even though the two are incomparabe) This game disgraces the name.

This version of the title screen is cool, but Modern Sonic is the one in Sonic 4, which is better, since Sonic 4 isnt a HD Remake of the Classics, its a completley new game.

@sonicspeed011 They reused Sonic 1's drums. that's the only thing that has "original sounds". Listen to the Splash Hill Zone theme. Tell me if you hear instrument resemblances.
And SEGA is doing a good thing, yes. But it's not good enough.
It is supposed to be after Sonic 3, yet the graphics and music are less creative and they have taken out features.
OH, and it's not even developed by SEGA.
