  • @Thunderstar1123 opps times sorry!

  • Can't get enough of this!

  • This is very nice! I'm thinking of using it for my wedding prelude instead of Spring; I like Spring, but its just over played and done for weddings!

  • @scarlettsapphire ......That's what I'm going to do once I get married.... :)

  • Violin virtuoso!

  • if there's a background picture that would be perfect but anyway mr. itzhak's interpretation is just PERFECT

  • I'm proud of this jewish brother!

  • Respond to this video...

  • wat een enge man op die viooool

  • die man is lelijk

  • I'll admit I love Itzhak Perlman I agree he is one of the best violinists in the past 3 decades but I place him right next to my favorite violinists Ms. Sarah Chang

  • plip plop plip plop of the rain on the roof and in the gutters

  • i love this and i love itzhak playing it. he is one of the best violinists in the world. i could listen to him all day. thanks so9so much for posting!!!

  • Whoever disliked this has no soul.

  • @nakedBison69 Dig Dig Dig but there's no way out - Self-Hating Jew, say what? sounds like this Bison has his own complex with his faith that he has to put others' down. Such a shame....Such a shame but whose to blame????

  • Pearlmann..is very good...but is not the best.

Almost Maki Koi or the big Nigel.

    bye

  • @solonostico11 I beg to differ. Pearlman is extremely talented with his tone quality and tempo in this song. I believe he is the best. But you know, I'm not a professional.

  • very good...but is not the best...

  • @solonostico11 maki itoi is the best

  • @solonostico11 it's better than Ke$ha at least ;-)

  • This is just the right Tempo. I wish there was a version with better audio quality. Nevertheless, this gives me chills, makes me smile and shed tears at the same time.

The director's face at the end of the piece is...self-explicit.

    Thanks for publishing this.

  • justin bieber can't touch this ****

  • Jews make the best violinists

  • His warm-toned contributions to Vivaldi were....oases of beauty."

  • too much vibrato

  • @MozartIsFancylalala that's the beauty of it?

I love that the tempo is slower and you can better appreciate the vibrato. That's what I find the most moving about this piece. I grew up with a similar interpretation of it by the LSO

  • Brilliant.

At least Itzhak knows Largo means "very slow" unlike many violinists who think it means "fast and with no feeling"

  • مسخووووووط

  • @ammoune9 what the fuck does that mean

  • totally amazing and beautiful. Perlman FTW :)

  • I first played a Stradivarius at age 12, and it was AWESOME!!! It sounded a lot like this.

  • Vivaldi was able to see the beauty in the cold winter to write this. Greetings!!!

  • i lyked it, but he plays kinda too slow..... don't u think so too?

  • @miyamoto5x I love slow......slow is better for Winter, and I do the same when I play this song.

  • Do you have to type in every one of those S's when you sign in?

  • the most beautiful of the 4 seasons

  • impeccable!!

  • he makes it seem effortless.

  • AMAZING !!

  • Um...why was this marked as spam? It's a nice post.

  • THIS performance is the reason why Winter Largo is my favorite movement of the Four Seasons. My sisters and I have watched This concert at LEAST 200 times and were finally able to convert our VHS to dvd. Phenomenal.

(...And our dream came true last night when we saw Itzhak in concert second row center. There are just no words.)

  • wow. i am jealous. that is amazing. so did he sound even better in real life, from such a short distance from you, then he normally does?

  • It was just about the most amazing thing we've ever seen. My sister and I are violinists and our other sister surprised us with tickets. Our mom also went along. We were literally about 15 feet away from him (seriously... we could hear him breathe!)

But... to answer your question... it was an absolutely flawless performance. To experience him live is just unbelievable. I've never heard him sound anything less than perfect, but I would say yeah, he's even better in person! Dream come true.

  • wow. congratulations. how rare it is to have a completely positive experience in this world

  • Largo is not meant to be like allegro, fast or zesty, it is meant to be played In a very slow tempo, usually considered to be slower than adagio, and with great dignity.

  • The wintry west extends his blast, And hail and rain does blaw;

Or the stormy north sends driving forth

     The blinding sleet and snaw:

    While, tumbling brown, the burn comes down, And roars frae bank to brae;

And bird and beast in covert rest, And pass the heartless day.thx Mark

  • awesome!!!

  • I Musici. Excelent

  • any reccomendations of other good you tube versions of this>>?? I am looking for some other beautioful versions

  • you can never go wrong with anything conducted by Neville Marriner's Academy of St-Martin-in-the-Fields

  • THIS is the true definiton of beautiful.

  • beautiful

  • me sale mas chido ami xd veanlo

  • I ordered this piece for trumpet and piano. I'm planing on doing it for a church performance. I think it might sound good for trumpet and organ as well! Itzhak Perlman does a great job playing this piece! He's the best!

  • what church do you go to?

  • I usually do performances at my grandmother's church. It's Called "St. Paul's Presbyterian" It's in Ocala, Fl.

  • Its great nut too slow for my liking. I prefer nigel kennedys recording.

  • Agreed, a little too slow; misses the 'zest' of it.

  • mhm.

  • Bravissimo! Soothes the tired soul ;)

  • Beautiful

  • Sumtimes, u can't tell which position he's playing in because his hands r so huge. But it duzent matter what position he plays in, it's his sound that's beautiful

  • Brilliant.

  • HE'S SO DAMN GOOD!

  • I'm getting married in two months and this is the piece of music that I'm walking down the aisle to. Its so beautiful.

  • that's sooo coool!! i never even thought of that, but it fits perfectly!

  • great

  • this really reminds of christmas time in some baroque city. full of snow, poor house with couple of kids and full lovin family. Exactly reminds me of a "A Christmas Carol" scenery. Beautiful, me favourite part form four seasons. Melody is so innocent...

  • I like it very much!Perlman is an amazing musician!

  • when it recorded?

    1980s?

  • beautiful...

  • That was beautiful. I like this song.

  • Amazing this guy can play Violin, look how huge his hands are!

  • I know dude, that is amazing.

  • Do you think he is Jewish?

  • Maybe.

  • He is, but he`s polish.

  • He's Israeli. He was even born is Tel Aviv.

  • where i live it rains on winter...

snow is only on certain latitudes...

  • some of these critics are so stuffy they could use a little slang

  • rain in winter? its snow falling its supposed to be slow

  • Yes, because there's so much snow in Italy? :P

When it get too slow, it loses some of its spirit :\

  • Once again Perlman shows why he's the consummate master.

I was a bit surprised at how much of the piece he plays in the first position though!

  • because its not necessary to play this piece in 2nd position and beside 1st position is where u can get a border tone to make a louder noise

  • i prefer this movement a little faster

..seeing as the pizzicato in the orchestra is meant to represent to rain falling..

  • even on the easiest song perlaman ,astonishly makes then seem proffesional

  • ....that's not easy....

  • the song its self is easy but perfection is hard

  • That looks like Nathan Milstein's old violin!

  • it's menuhin's

  • Perlman's interpreation of Largo Vivaldi's Winter isn't quite up to his usual standard. His playing is awfullly stiff and the articulation is clumsy and arkward.

  • that man dyin!! givem a break

  • what a beautiful rich tone.

  • he makes this seem simple but when in fact it easy for him but hard as hell for everyone els :P just talk about talented

  • Jenhorne, I do agree that it's sometimes interesting to see how a particular piece would have sounded "back then".

However, "authenticity" is an overblown notion. The reality is that the reason music playing has evolved so much over the centuries is because music education, performance halls, competition, etc. have all VASTLY IMPROVED. Whatever style that there was in the Baroque era was largely due to limitations in skill and equipment that we no longer face today. hey it's Perlman....

  • i dont know if it is just me, while all three are maestros ; i find perlman to be the best player of romantic pieces, heifetz of baroque and stern of classical pieces

  • he is better than you will ever be.

  • i might suk but never as much as you

  • Hon, you need some education. Please go back to school and learn to speak and write correctly. It is embarrassing to read your writing.

  • u idiot i never said he suks... "NASTY" slang for GREAT

  • that is true. its slang people. like "damn mr. perlman ur nasty at that violin" slang like when people say "sick" for "good"

    not that i use slang

  • jenhorne, unfortunately you don't get it. Itzhak has performed this piece thousands of times. He can embellish over pieces like this however he likes. Otherwise, it would become boring. And each time should be different. Perlman, you do NOT suck at this instrument.

  • I never said Perlman sucked at his instrument, he is quite a masterful player. I actually just studied Winter this past semester and have read all about the baroque style. I really wanted to get as close as possible to an authentic historical performance, in this case Itzhak plays it very well but it is not really in the baroque style. It's just a matter of personal preference, I personally like the more traditional baroque sound which requires less vibrato.

  • for a fully authentic baroque experience he'll need to get a baroque bow too lol

  • lol..he is "quite a masterful player." Wow, you think? I love it when little kids have nothing to truthfully say, but think they do.

  • the best song ever at a violin

  • I don't know if I agree with using so much vibrato in this movement, afterall in the baroque period vibrato was considered a form of ornamentation. Itzhak plays this beautifully and does some tasteful ornamentation in the second half but I feel that overall his vibrato is a little to romantic for my taste.

  • I thought that the art behind playing others music is to take something and making it your own, or else its just plagiarism.

Thats a problem I see with most talanted and/or educated musicians, that they are forgetting the art instead of perfecting it.

  • Jenhorne, babe...you have a lot to learn from the greats, which you are not. So, just listen and learn. You can choose your own style, but let the critical review go, would ya? The didn't become famous by accident.

  • The thing is, I think it is a beautiful interpretation, it's just not for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Perlman but I just have a very particular sound in mind when I hear the Four Seasons. Meh.
