But let's go with your assertion that he couldn't perform up to par anymore. If that's the case the majority of the team hasn't been up to par, especially the QB. He hasn't been up to par since 2004 (in other words his entire "career"), & they've sure as heck kept him through thick and THIN. Just ask Bradshaw

One difference about Ben and Hines, Ben has a chance to bounce back after a bad season. Hines, on the other hand, is too old to make any improvements to his already diminishing game.

They've kept Ben despite his performance, attitude, and off field criminal behavior yet Hines who is arguably the best player the team has had since the 70s Steelers (and a Goodwill Ambassador to boot) is sacked? Really? Ben at his best is the winning touchdown drive in Superbowl 43. It's taking a team with an awful O line and a lackluster running game all the way to Superbowl 45. Ben is the best player the Steelers have had since the 70's. Need I remind you that Ward had a DUI in Florida? They both have had trouble with the law. Hines was great, but he was a shadow of his former self. Get over it. We have a great young receiving corps now.
