I was watching this, and thinking it does remind me of gaga, but then I realized that her and gaga are more than just similar artistically, they're similar both genetically and geographically. No matter what gaga does, people say shes copying madonna, and that's how it always will be. They're litteraly almost the same person.
enough about Gaga and Madonna! they are both great at what they do! If anything Madonna fans should be happy that her legacy lives on with Gaga, and Gaga's fans should be happy that Madonna broke so many barriers and made an impression on a young Stefanie Germanotta. Theyre both amazing and that is that!
I really do not think Lady Gaga copied her. Maybe she has some similarities, but Gaga is way stranger, and I don't mean that in a bad way. If you think Born This Way and Express Yourself sound the same, try playing them together at the exact same time. It's a mess. If Gaga really copied her, the 2 songs together would sound similar.
This performance is insanely amazing. I think we can be proud that we lived in an era where Madonna changed the face of popculture and sex symbols. That will not happen in the near future. So we can say that we were part of ' the day Madonna started to make history!' :-)

Were? I think you mean ARE! Sticky and Sweet, while not her best tour still had plenty flashes of brilliance that really drew me in and made the 2 hours fly by. I can't count how many times I've watched Vogue or Into The Groove to name a few. The choreo, set designs, themes, and her ATTITUDE are so bitchin' and I *still* haven't seen better, and yes, I've watched Monster's Ball.

OMG! I would have collapse right there on the stairs from utter exhaustion, convulsing and gasping for oxygen… it would not have been a pretty sight and a terrible ending to the song.

I have never seen this performance ( became a fan in 1998 when I was 14). Wow. She sounded so good. Obviously 100% live with a faint backing track yet you could clearly hear Madonna's ( strong) voice over it. LOL when she bent backwards to pick up the jacket and went out of tune for a sec. Proves it was 100% live.
i would be willing to bet that Lady Gaga and Madonna pulled a fast one on us all. By having a song undeniably contain elements either similar or contained in Express Yourself, more hype is created for Lady Gaga's new single while bringing Madonna's timeless catalog to a newer generation of pop music fans.
@alva2bryant Joint marketing could very well be possible, especially considering Madonna is trying to hold onto the current industry as much as she can. It's also possible that a new artist fed off of a previous success and made a huge error in doing so. Either way, controversy steals the spotlight and we all know that that's the main tactic in Gaga's marketing strategy (and Madonna's back when she was no.1) because it works.
Have been a huge fan of Madonna's since the days of Borderline and Lucky Star. I saw Madonna in concert not too long ago and she is STILL the best of the best. I immediately saw La Isla Bonita in Gaga's Alejandro and now Express Yourself in Gaga's Born This Way. A shame Gaga can't come up with her own material and has to rip off the Queen of pop to come up with something to record. BTW If you are reading this Madonna... There's obviously some backing track going on here, but she's singing live and she sounds really good. I hadn't seen this performance in a long time, but it's really quite great.

I have never seen this performance ( became a fan in 1998 when I was 14). Wow. She sounded so good. Obviously 100% live with a faint backing track yet you could clearly hear Madonna's ( strong) voice over it. LOL when she bent backwards to pick up the jacket and went out of tune for a sec. Proves it was 100% live.

i would be willing to bet that Lady Gaga and Madonna pulled a fast one on us all. By having a song undeniably contain elements either similar or contained in Express Yourself, more hype is created for Lady Gaga's new single while bringing Madonna's timeless catalog to a newer generation of pop music fans.

@alva2bryant Joint marketing could very well be possible, especially considering Madonna is trying to hold onto the current industry as much as she can. It's also possible that a new artist fed off of a previous success and made a huge error in doing so. Either way, controversy steals the spotlight and we all know that that's the main tactic in Gaga's marketing strategy (and Madonna's back when she was no.1) because it works.

Have been a huge fan of Madonna's since the days of Borderline and Lucky Star. I saw Madonna in concert not too long ago and she is STILL the best of the best. I immediately saw La Isla Bonita in Gaga's Alejandro and now Express Yourself in Gaga's Born This Way. A shame Gaga can't come up with her own material and has to rip off the Queen of pop to come up with something to record. BTW If you are reading this Madonna...
