  • @AiMProDiiGy With an FPS config you can run 1000fps steady with very good hardware. Pro Tip: Don't.

  • @halfpiintz no, it has to be a number divided by 1000, so 250 and 333 could work beneficial aswell (500 affects jumping negatively and 1000 is just a trainwreck).

  • Quick Question. I Play Conslololol, If 333FPS lets you jump further than 250,and 250 lets you jump further than 125, Why dont people just play on 333 so the jumps are easier?

  • @linkinparkrock20 I was a bit vague there, basically a number controls how fast you're moving, dividing 1,000 by a number such as 8 and using the result (125) somehow causes the number that controls your speed to increase while jumping, however each factor of 1,000 has a different effect on the number (vector) that controls your movement in the x, y, and z axis. This is why they are all beneficial, but not the same.

    That's my understanding at least.

  • @linkinparkrock20 I just read your comment again and realised I didn't reeeally answer your question of why people use different fps up front.

    Basically, different fps effect the different axis of your speed in different ways, for example assuming Z in CoD is up and down, 125 fps causes your movement to increase in X and Y more than 250 or 333 fps, but 250 and 333 fps cause your movement in Z to increase more.

  • @sttate But Why would A game engine Give players with better PC's a greater chance of getting the kill? Moving Faster makes you a harder target, and so does jumping higher.

  • @linkinparkrock20 Obviously they didn't plan on it, it must be a bug.

    And for things like this, I always think of it as the skill barrier raising rather than the chances of success.

    Like if you had a low dpi mouse, getting a higher dpi mouse doesn't automatically make you better, it just means you can put more of your skill to use (in this case you can be more accurate). Although the fps thing does make things easier technically, I don't really think it's an advantage, more to show off.

  • @linkinparkrock20 Each setting is a little different. Some things on 333 can be easier on 125, and same with 125 and 250.

  • @linkinparkrock20 How am I supposed to know? I didn't code the game. I just know that 125, 250, 333 all have their advantages.

  • @linkinparkrock20 I think it's something along the lines of certain fps cause your movement vector to increase in certain ways (maybe the number gets rounded up or something so you jump further), I think no matter what fps you use the vector does get increased, just by varying amounts in certain axis, which is why the different fps give different results but are all better than not using a certain fps.

    Also, it has something to do with dividing 1000 by an integer. 4 for 250 etc.

  • @linkinparkrock20 125 fps is used for straight strafe jumps, 250 is used for 90 degree angle strafe jumps, and 333 lets you jump higher but not necessarily further.

    125 takes the most skill and thus it is used to show off skill more or less.
