  • Aeolian = Metalcore

  • you are great player man but i can't hear your sound

  • Thnx 4the lesson dude.U ROCK!

  • the last one is the kind of thing,

kirk does at the very end of creeping death ...

  • greatest teach on youtube period!!!

  • What kinda guitar and amp it sounds beautiful

  • isn't that just G mixylodian?

  • he shakes the guitar seriously when he is doing his vibrato

    XD

  • thx for the vid i just starting playing XD

  • the second scale you played really looked like the sweet child solo in the fast part...

  • is that a Gibson LP? How do you get it to sound so good? What amp and pedal are you using?

  • heah D

  • the last one is an oriental-arabic gear,

    really interesting in metal

  • around 3:00 the scale he is showing is the end of the first solo of 'Fade to Black' by Metallica, but Metallica's is in A. little fact for everyone.

  • That bend is in the Sweet Child of Mine solo intro.

  • hahhah 0:23 ahahha funny , and good lesion!

  • this guitar looks more heavy than the fender stratocaster

  • at around 4:00 he says about Eb. strictly speaking it should be D#. The whole idea of Harmonic minor is to create a leading note - in the same manner as in the major scale. The leading note stays just a semitone below the keynote (and "leads" us to the keynote, or, as some people call it, Root). That's why if we want to transform E minor natural into E minor harmonic we have to raise the 7th degree a semitone, thus D becomes D#.

  • can u do a zakk wylde lesson

  • yes they are different ones and u need different picks to play accos or elect if ur rather like the sounds of playing it

  • is there any different between the pick use for stumming acoustic n lectric guitar?

  • There is no difference between the picks, but there is difference between the picking. Although most players recommend using a thinner, softer pick for an acoustic guitar, I would say, try all of them and use what's most comfortable for you.

  • i use the same

  • usually for an electric you want a short hard pick and for acoustic you want something bigger and softer, especially if you're going to be strumming up and down.

Also for acoustic it's not necessary for electrics it is

  • no, you can use either for any, but most acoustic strumming is done with a thinner/lighter pick, whereas electric solo work is usualy done with a thicker more sturdy pick wich doesnt bend as much.

  • Not really. However sometimes when mic'ing strummed chords on an acoustic you want the sound of the pick too - in that instance, you use a relatively thin pick and mic closer to the soundhole, rather than over the fretboard...

  • no there is no difference

  • Acoustic pick is picker i think, but they're both useable on both guitars.

  • its recommended to use a softer pick for acoustic and hard for electric

  • NO...generally harder picks are preferred for electrics

  • It's all about what you like best but i personally prefer pretty thin picks when strumming chords and stuff on acoustic

  • often people prefer using a pick like a thin to strum on acoustic since it flexes more, and using a stiffer one like a medium to play electric

  • Its just a personal choise for each player.... Lighter gauge picks are more useful in strumming chords as the sound of a lighter pick is thinner and less over powering, however, trying to use a flimsy pick will make lead playing less powerful in sound.... use what you are comfortable with and find your own perfect pick!

  • For some reason, and I don't know why, I sound best and "heaviest" (I'm a death metal/punk/thrash/metal guitarist) when using an orange .63 Dunlop pick, or the yellow .70 Dunlop pick. I just sound best with medium thickness picks.

  • I agree when I play extremely fast I need a flexible pick that will give slightly to extreme speed picking, but when I want to squeel or pinch harmonic or even manhandle the strings, I absolutely need a small very firm pick like a jazz III, and when I strum chords I again want a thin pick. So literally what I will be playing somewhat dictates what pick I pick.

  • HAHA - listen to how he says D at 0:22

    It´s hillarious

    oh btw - good lesson

  • haha i know

  • LOL excellent

  • the way he says "D" is awesome lol

  • naice

  • could somebody tell me what does "scalloped frets" means?

  • u guys are the greatest.

  • thanks :)

  • good tip

  • Thanks for sharing this.

  • how do you do that vabrato when you bend the string i can't do that trying to learn it for godfather theme

  • yea same but i cant do the big part of the solo its real hard

  • it´s easy do the vibrato just when you´ve bent the string :P

  • how u lower the action of a guitar?

  • get the strings closer to the neck. scallope your frets.. lower gauge strings. thinner neck:D

  • screws in the back of the bridge

  • why not turn the amp up, it is rock music after all

  • nice to me

    thanks body

  • love it.

its freakin sick once i got the hang of it.

  • very informative thanks. you teach it well using correct terminology as well as being very clear in instructions. 5* nice one

  • 7-10

  • Thanks!!

  • Your video has been a huge help.

    Thank you so much.

  • What is your oppinion about tenson les paul??

  • You're awesome! Im startinga band, my first, I'm 15 and I have myself and another guitar player, waaiting on bass and drums. Could you check out a couple of my video's and tell me if I'm at all ready to have a band. Thank you, if you have the time. Risen To Fallen

  • what freets are u playing on

  • Look at the inlays. inlay-space-inlay-space-inlay-space-space-inlay. The last inlay is on the 12th fret.

  • He's starting on the A string, fret 7.

  • He's playing an E note, so I'll guess the root is on 7th fret of the 5th streng

  • look at the spaces.. the highest (towards the body.. is fret 12)

  • i am getting an electric guitar for the fst time do you have any suggestions for any sound or anything?

  • try to get something in a les paul shape

  • what kind of music do you like to play?

  • i think a stratocaster is a very nice beginning guitar, it has good all around play, get the action lowered and get 9 to 48 strings. its a great beginning setup

  • Do you have any clue what you're talking about? A stratocaster is not a beginner setup. A stratocaster is $1200

The only Stratocaster that would be good for a beginner is the SQUIRE Stratocaster. Squire is Fender's lower-end stuff for first time players or people on a budget. So Fender owns Squire, its just Fender guitars are made in America and Squire ones are made in like China or Vietnam or Korea or something. Just like Gibson makes Epiphone.

  • A stratocaster is not a "nice" beginning guitar. It's a $1200 guitar which is played by SRV, Eric Clapton, and Jimi Hendix

The only type of Stratocaster thats good for a beginner is a Squire. (which is made by Fender just a lower end brand for people who are new to on a budget). Its still made by Fender but made in China or Korea or something.

  • a stratocaster just is a very nice guitar, wether you're a beginner or not.

I personally prefer the sound (not the looks XD) of a tele though.

  • tele looks kinda gay but the sound is amazing

  • Teles look sick!

  • Teles look awesome, lol.

  • what price?:P

if you want a cheap good guitar.

i would suggest an ibanez i have one myself and it is nice:P

but if you have the money...

    buy a gibson I want one to:P

  • A Gibson?

no1Divagal: "I'm new to guitar, what should I get?"

    You: "Try a $3000 Gibson"

  • for beginning a very expensive guitar might not be the best, but it might hold longer for the level of your skill when you have been playing for years and years :P maybe an Epiphone would be a good starter guitar, they are actually pretty good, the LP standards, are good for a beginner, but the only problem is the neck might be bit too small for a beginner, of just need to consider the size of your hands :P

  • I actually played a gibson LP studio..... and I totally prefer my ibanez, the lp whines too much when doing rythm through a distortion, or rythm at all, even with tone killed.

But hey, that's just taste, and the studio is the bottom of the lp line, I'm sure there's one bound to sound better.

  • actually if you switch the pickup to rhythm you don't get any feedback or"whines" when u ply rhythm then switch to treble for lead

  • distortion

  • Get a Squire package.

  • thx man, i feel this is good for my fingerwork :)

  • VERY nice tone your getting there Dave!

  • cool..great scale!

  • what are you using to get this tone?

  • nice video man =) tkx but i screw up with the right hand -_-

  • is this on 7th position??

  • great Lesson

    Cool,scale

  • Cool lesson!

  • NOT THE D, e flat.. yes sir

  • i dont think that is slash untill i see his face wich i never

  • this isnt slash. its someone teaching some of the stuff slash uses with his guitar playing. can you not read?

  • it sais INSPIRED by slash dumbass

  • it says Inspired.

  • inspired by slash

  • that isn't Slash, it says "inspired by ... Slash"

  • what fret is it on??

  • 7th

  • 7th

  • 7th

  • great video! Röck´n Röll!!

  • oh my good

  • I'm soooooo geting your kind of gitare I'm yourbigist fan I'm bobby spina age 11 blood tipe ab and complament slash rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahahah 3:21 rude finger

  • haha nice

  • only one problem... when you played E harmonic minor through the second octave you put a Bb in it, let me just clarify that E harmonic minor does not have a Bb.

  • 0:21... priceless

  • haha i lol'ed xD

  • all you internet mf's are funny..no wonder i dont post lessons

  • Nice Call man!

  • u r rockin some 8's or 9's to. damn so skinny.

  • ahah 0:21 "deeehEeeEE"

  • lol

  • what frets were that

  • my problem with music is i have plenty of technique and skill, plenty of knowledge of scales, modes, and theory, technical skills ....but i just cant create any thing and it is so frustrating, any tips anyone

  • play your ass off i bet i dont know anywhere as close as much as you but i just play till i make my own licks, techniques, style and etc.

  • I know what you're saying, I have the same problem, I figured out all kinds of cool tricks and scales, chords, etc. But unfortunately can't make anything from scratch that sounds good. WE NEED TIPS!!

  • don't force yourself to make something just find a sound you like and work forward to find something that sounds good.

  • yeah just pick up your guitar and jsut play the first thing that comes to mind and then tweek it from thier

  • Work this way, use a Slash method: A CRAP load of improv. :D

  • Experiment with things that aren't really in scales or modes. I used to play with a guitarist who knew everything about scales and etc. Yet when we played he usually asked me what I had just played because it sounded good. I simply had gone out of "his scale" and improvised a few notes. I'd even recommend learning jazz riffs, or chromatic stuff in that style.

  • haha 0:21!!!!!

  • eb and d# are the same tunes

  • but it matters depending what key your in

  • thanks for posting

  • dont mean to sound too picky but you're bending that note a little too far.

  • true

  • the guitar sound is too soft

  • he cant do to much on his guitar cause you cant hear him much and he also uses alot of tube amps and they suck when turned down

  • sounds like November rain when he is bending

  • its not slash its a guy inspired by slash

  • so...he is REALLY FUCKING GOOD!!!!! just wach more of his vids!!!

  • "D!" balls drop at 0:21

  • during the bending part its like he's yelling at you lol. sounds good and yea it does sound like the fade to black intro ending

  • THANK YOU! great job!

  • Then you need to go back and listen to "sweet child o' mine". That exact bend, note for note, is in the middle solo.

  • hi!!i love ur videos man!!i am kinda new to the world of electric guitars and have a fender squier strat and an sp-10 amplifier.i wanted to know whether i can have more overdrive, fuzz and reverb with the help of an effects pedal??or is it better to buy a better amp first??thought i'd ask u coz u da guru man!!

  • Buy a multi effect pedal, they have tons of effects, and tons channels to store your sounds on, some of the best multi effect pedals to buy in my oppinion is Boss GT8 or Boss ME50. You can get any sound you want from those pedals.

  • true

  • Stop Yelling! :(

Hehe. You make it look sooo easy.

    thanks for that!

  • Holy crap that sounds like the intro solo to Fade to Black

  • that's because it uses the same scale (Aeolien) in the first part of fade to black but it's in a different key (B)

  • its quite like some of the bits in the godfather love song bit.

  • The e aolian mode scale is also one of the parts in fade to Black by Metallica

  • Dude, now that you mention it, that sounds like it in the first and second solos.

  • what thge fuck do u have to do to get in the site??

i clicked the link but there are no videos, its necessary to join, blah!blah! and stuff??

  • try next level guitar dot com - we are running a special right now - three day free pass to check out the site - enjoy and rock on!

    DT

  • in the cmaj chord how come i press down the notes 1 5 1 instead of 1 3 5, C E C not C E G? Thanks for all the lessons

  • u gotta give'em money,ha,gofigure.

  • :o Not to be negative but you have ALOT of hair on your hand :S

But Nice playing and great lesson :)

  • search "arturo lara solo" that's a good guitar player

  • not to be "that guy" who has to criticize every video, but there's a problem with the second scale you've shown as an E Harmonic Minor. The first octave is correct- but the second octave you're showing an augmented 4th (A#) and a major 6th (C#).

The only note being changes is the 7th. the second octave of the scale would be the same as the natural minor (first scale shown) except with the D raised one semitone to a D# (11th fret on the high E, as opposed to the 10th).

  • this guy is a good guy he expanded heaps on what i was playing thanx man

  • Now that's a lesson! I loved it! Thank you! You gave me some new ideas to work with. THANK YOU!

  • do u want to buy a gibson les paul it would be cool!!! rock ON

  • cool and i love ur tone pls can u tell me wich fx pedals or amp u use? thx

  • Hi - thanks for your kind words! In this lesson I just played the epiphone through a line 6 spider 3 amp - no effect pedals - just a splash of reverb from the amp and some amp distortion - thats it!

    rock on! -DT

  • damn good man.

  • you have good videos, but i must say that i cannot hear much, can you make them louder?

  • yes, we have all the audio glitches worked out - see more of our vids on our full site and on rockongoodpeople

    take care -DT

  • rock on!

  • slash kicks ass, guns n' roses + stone temple pilots = kick ass

  • I like your videos because unlike most other guitar lessons on you tube, from yours we can actually learn something, thanx & keep up the good work!!

  • HOOOOLLLLLD!!

  • Slash is the best without him in VR then the band will sucks

  • i dont think theyl suck i think theyd be very very bad without him :p

  • Practice! Just practice your scales over adn over and it will come quiet natural to play fast, with or without hammerons

  • How do you play so fast on second 44 ? My right hand can't keep up. Do you use hammer ons or do you hit every note with your pick?

  • AS ITS BENT UP HOLLDDD HOOLLDDDD!!!!!!!!! jeez stop yelling we can hear you lol.

  • omg i cant learn because your videos arent load enough

  • like it

  • Would you recommend practicing on a acoustic guitar instead?

  • Practicing on steel string acoustic has it's pro's and cons, acoustic's have bigger necks, thicker strings and higher actions than an electric. It is normally easier for a beginner to play an electric but playing an acoustic will develop strength in the hands. It's the old story, if you can sound good playing a song on an acoustic, usually it'll sound great on an electric

  • sounds like one part in fade to black

  • it does dosnt it

  • i hate that tone

  • You should stick with the lick rather than getting into the theory stuff understand both the licks and the theory, but you are confusing it for the apprentice player.

  • the volume seems to have dropped off a bit in the recent videos, makes it hard to hearr what your playin/sayin.

    Rockon

  • Good lesson to bad Velvet Revolver stinks ass nuggets

  • thanks learn guitar lesson

  • Good lesson. Now I can drive my family mad for the next few weeks learning this. ... You did say to turn the amp up didn't you?
