Scale or not its still foam, so there's not to much weight pull with those "Major G's" , Just a packing peanut with a engine. It should no have popped off like that.
What happened ? I dont know...lmao. Cessna Skyrobatic or what .. honestly if u dont have the foggiest idea of RC ..better learn it in a Club. RC is dangerous, if you dont know about the risks..thx for listening
Got the same bird. To bad u was so unlucky with yours. Will be flying mine more gentle after this video. Thanks for sharing this bad experience with others c182 skywagon owners..
and todays news, a pilot lost his plane today as the g-force was too much for the wings,, good news though, the pilot did survive the crash, with only a bruised ego,,,, ouch???
The bad news is the insurance company has refused to replace your plane. The good news is your flying skills have progressed past the 'foam trainer' stage!! Lol
i think the high G turns and climb outs are the primary cause, i dont think you could even pull off some of those in a real 182, i have the art tec version which is around the same size but has a balsa construction and a large carbon rod in the centre with a smaller one at the trailing edge on the main wing, i think this is the bolt on wing type which is ok for mild aerobatics and scale flight. still the manufactures should pay more attention to build quality and stress points on rc aircraft.
@ScruffyITA That rc plane was purchased from Nitroplanes 2 years ago. The model is under the AIRFIELD brand, but they no longer have it in the same color scheme. There's a 4 channel and an upgraded 5 channel model with flaps and lights. That was the 4 channel model.
Nice plane, had the same thing happen to me, unfortunately what happens when you push a scale plane to far, I stopped flying around a lot of people and cars after it happened to me, you just never know...
I have this one ,wery good plane in the start i have many near by accidents all the time because if going to slow it just tip over ,just luck that didnt crash it , no it,s 3 y.old and still flying ,wery good plane, the only plane i have so i dont have something to compare with but i think its good, wids from it is in my account:) Yours is moore powerful then mine :)
Sorry for your plane it was a beauty, it looks like a nitro very powerful nice flight good skills, about the crash everybody in this beautiful hobby did it.
This isn't a 3D aerobatic model. There is a reason the full scale C182 is not rated for such aerobatics either. The fact that it is a high winger and requires wing struts would tell you that.
Ignore the comments of the jelous, that was some great smooth flying and aerobatics. Anyone here that has not found the limit of one of their planes has never truely flown a plane.
yeah wings folded definitely. should have put cf reenforcements on the wings mate, from the way your plane flied, seemed like you had a motor upgrade there didnt you? it was a nice looking plane what a pity. good skills mate
2 tiny 1/16 inch nubs of plastic are intended to engage a plastic plate at the windshield in the manner where experienced builders typically use dowels sticking out 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Any flexing of the "elapor" (very flexible foam) would allow the nubs to disengage.
It looks like the nubs disengaged leaving the trailing edge bolts and the struts to hold the wing on... the struts failed. The wing folded back and ripped out the Trailing edge.
The two wing halves above the front windshield were only retained by plastic locks which snaps into position under pressure. The rear is held in place with screws and prevents the wing from unlocking. A thick carbon fiber rod spans the two halves.
Two inverted outside loops were executed on 2:21 and 2:28. The second loop unlocked the front and disengaged the wings from the fuselage. Failure on 2:35 as a result of wings not locked in. Wings supports break under stress as well.
It took me a while to figure out what really happened on this flight. Reality check... I was the one at the controls and extremely grateful that no one was hurt.
Everyone has their style of flying and there are others who are more daring than the majority out there. The limits of this airplane were exceeded on this flight and catastrophic failure of the wings were the result.
you pushed the load factor (weight of the aircraft) too match that the wings design to handle it , so the aircraft weight was at lest Twice the weight of the normal weight !!
@moosa6669 That's actually not true. Adding weight actually increases Va, or the safe maneuvering speed of the aircraft.
If you take one plane that's loaded lightly, and one plane that's heavy, fly them both at the same airspeed, and suddenly yank on the elevator putting their wings at max angle of attack, the heavily loaded plane experiences less acceleration, therefore the wings are less likely to fail.
If you don't believe me, go read about Va (maneuvering speed.)
Oh, what a shame. That was a nice bird. I love the way it maneuvered.
I didn't want to see the wreck but I had to know what you were referring to. Our youth group is building a plane from scratch. I thought it best to learn what happened.
From the beginning of the video I think I see the supports you mentioned. Thanks for warning others.
Our plane has four nylon screws that fasten into nylon anchors inserted from under the fuselage rails. Hopefully it will hold that six foot wing adequately.
Fly a real Cessna 182 like that and the same thing would happen. If you use stronger struts, the wing will most likely fold. Nice flying skills though. Now get an Edge or Yak.
I have one of these planes myself. I fly it pretty conservatively out of fear this stuff will happen. It's a pretty good plane all and all but as other posters said, it needs some strengthening in places. I stove mine up on the maiden flight because I broke the right stick on the radio when I dropped it and did not realize it until it was too late. Airfield has a lot of spare parts for this model at a pretty good price. Sorry you dumped it. That sucks.
The wings did not give out the plane did what it was made to do. It was pilot over kill heheheh. If you fly it like a fighter jet then. Put more support in the wings . Great stuff I learned something today . heheh/.
I noticed your using an adapter to connect your battery to the deans ESC. Is there any problems with doing this? Does it effect current draw or anything like that?
This is not an acrobatic plane!!!! It´s normal.
If you like to fly an acrobatic.... then Buy a Low wing acrobatic, not a HIGH WING turism!!!
