@FredericaBimble Actually they were the Impressions. Clapton made their acquaintance at Curtis Mayfield's funeral, and they sang on the Reptile album and the first leg of the tour.
I love Eric but no, not this song. The whole "shock value" of this song was that Stevie Wonder wrote and recorded it as a country song from one one of his best selling albums, "Hotter Than July". Eric doing country is as much 'big news' as him doing blues or rock. And this version sounds too much like Stevie's work and not enough like his. I'm still a major fan, just not of this song or video.
@TheFIRSTFatJohn You know what I see when I watched this video? A bunch of guys having fun making music. It's called entertainment for a reason. The fate of Western Civilization does not hang in the balance.
@gmb858 So someone having an opinion that is different than yours is like putting western civilization out of balance? Eric Clapton is a legend, who has done some incredibly great work. This is NOT one of his best works; that's regardless as to whether or not the guys in the video are having fun. "Entertainment" is in the eyes of the beholder and this beholder wasn't entertained. A difference of opinion is a trait common to Global civilization or did you get that memo?
I find it funny that the annoying and angering advertisement at the beginning of the video plays flawlessly, but yet when it comes to the actual video, it has to load literally every 7 seconds lol. Love this song, thanks to the uploader, but a HUGE middle finger to Youtube.
Love this, heard it on Bernie Mac and had to get right up and find it to put on my favorites..Makes u want to dance & sing along. Thanks for the post...
Brilliant!! I simply love this song!!! And that funky, sexy bass solo... I've never heard that before - wonderful!! Straight in the favourites! This one's a keeper!
Like this? I LOVE this! Awesome job, Eric, doing a cover of one of my favorite songs ever. Plus, I think we have a bass solo workshop in there too. Whew! This song and video just blow me away. Things like this make life good!!!
@Kingcurtisss I like that the Impressions were on Background vocals. If you get the original version by Stevie Wonder, the Gap Band did the background vocals.
