The Mustang did win because he had a better reaction time. .04 second win margin, if I remember correctly. You can clearly see the win light come on in the Mustang's lane. And on one of Sparks03max's videos (the guy with the Maxima), he shows a pic of the slip showing the Mustang win margin.
@sneaky98gt yep, he won thanks to a better reaction time. That was my best run of the afternoon - was aiming for a good 60 foot without much concern for R/T. Regardless, I got the better time and I'm happy enough with that.
@Sparks03max well nissan sold 85000 faulty qr25de with butterly screws, which then the precat gets sucked back to the motor and causes exessive oil consumption. Their respons. " what do you want us to do"? Are you serious???? Never ever am I buying from nissan. Thank god I just sold that pos.
@mrdragking13 I owned a 04 spec V that I bought brand new on the lot. Within 3k miles, I had put loctite on the butterfly screws and put a header on it. Ran perfect for the rest of its life. Sure, it sucked from the factory... but it took a whole few hours of effort and ~300 bucks to fix it all.
@Sparks03max sorry that's not an excuse, this car was a mistake that nissan should have took responsibility for. I kinda feel sorry for the sucker I sold it to. 58k miles and the car is just sad. I had high hopes for the last japanese company I respected but now I hate nissan more than honda. For gods sake my bmw is more reliable than my altima was and we all know how a pita german cars are.
@mrdragking13 I see you're very emotional about the subject. Hate all you want, but my car doesn't have a QR25DE, is reliable, and pretty damn quick for a stock engine with just boltons.
@Sparks03max vq30/35/37 are good motors . I'm sure your car is quick and enjoy it. Ill stick to my mustang and camaro as far as speed, the M is good aswell.
@mrdragking13 Sure beats GM's 10+ years of selling cars with faulty LIM gaskets. Their response: "We don't see anything wrong with it." Oh really? Every single V6 made during that stretch would drink loads of antifreeze through it.
@arcenal352 nissan is a joke, there qr25de's were a scheme from the get go. thats why i sued and i won, simple nissan is paying for the crap i went through. the only thing nissan is good for is their vq motors.....wow 1 single motor....sigh.....sad
@mrdragking13 Eh... I like the QR. They were iffy for one year (2002) but have since been remarkably reliable. I have a 2008 altima with the QR25DE and I have 101k miles on it with no issues at all. Also, the ships in which i used to work has 2 customers with the same cars (CVT and all) with over 200k miles... They were bad for one year and that was it.
@arcenal352 the service department i used to manage would get altima's from 2002-2004 all with the qr25de all with the same issue. in my case my car sucked up the pre cat and blew the motor on i95 and caused an accident. i had high hopes for the car, cause i really liked it, smooth and quiet, but it horribly let me down. i daily drive my track cars and none had issues as bad as this car and i abuse my track cars where as the nissan was pampered with every oil change.
@mrdragking13 Not doubting you at all. Like I said, I own a 2008 Altima and I have over 100k miles with no issues whatsoever. I have heard about and seen the 2002's with issues, but the proceeding ones seem to be able to hit 200k+ miles with little trouble... My mom previously had a 1995 and a 1997 Altima, both of which gave us around 300k miles. One died and the other got totaled. I have been very please with them since, and so far, I have no reason to doubt them.
@ccachella and the maxima was full weight with only boltons and DRs, stock engine. Was running just as quick as a 01 bullit with full boltons. *shrug* I guess.
Mustang got the win light.

Mustang didn't win. 12.68for the Maxima to the Mustang's 12.88. Mustang trapped 5 mph higher, but had a bad launch and never caught up.

What I want to know is how the timing equipment knew I was going to run a 12.68 before I was even past the 1/8th mile. WTF!

If it wasn't for the top end charge by the 5.0, you would have won.

@ccachella true, but that maxima has 60% of the displacement and probably cost no more than 1/3rd the price of the Mustang, mods included

@cantbsdave
They'll do that stock with a good driver. You can hear how much the Mustang was spinning.
With a tune and tires, the new 5.0s will do high 11s with a good driver.
