By the way Mozart was of African descent. My Brothers I am not being racist, I'm just speaking on the Facts.
Daniel Santo was not cuban, he was puertorican. This song resulted from his time in jail for violating an underage girl, so this song is not a political protest

My friend there is nothing african in this music, you are very mistaken. In the rumba and some other styles you can say there are forms of african music, even so it is "afro-cuban" and not african, the two are very different. This is Bolero-Son and was born in Cuba. African music then was tribal music as it is mostly today.
I agree a lot of Cubans and Brainwashed miseducated spanish speaking people don't give credit to the first man on earth, The BLACK MAN! Everything the EUROPEANS HAD were Stolen and Taken from the BLACKMAN!! Who wants to debate?
Including the mp3, the combustion engine, the computer, the piano, the washing machine, television, the radio, the telephone etc, etc? Dream on my friend, how much you would like to have that power. The first man on earth, credit??? Wow, never heard this before! Makes me wanna laugh. Yes, you want credit for everything. Dream on and keep it there!!!
You mean people who made this music, not people of african descent! This music was and is being made and developped by people from all walks of life and colours, even people of chinese descent.
Highly skilled or degree musicians. Sorry, the creative nature of a human being has nothing to do with the colour of his/her skin or his origins. This is cuban music even if there is a chinese cornet there somewhere. The music is unique.
Go to youtube and type Ruben Gonzalez, listen to the video named In Memory, the song is called Tumbao. Just the same as a passenger plane is too advanced for Africa, our Cuban music is far too advanced for you too. You may have invented the Cart but never compare it with a Ferrari! Sorry.
listen to all African music, and you're here the rhythms. Moors inhabited Spain for 500 years. They left, but left the music behind. Then they were enslaved on Cuba for over 300 years. The music's origins is from Africa. A little research please
Nobody listens to African music brother. The world moved forward but Africa stayed there with the same rituals that you've continued to do for thousands of years without change. Cuban music is a different world from Spain and from Africa. Don't forget 200 years ago we did´t have cars, computers, telephones, light bulbs or electricity, washing machines, etc. You keep going back 400 years ago? what for? We moved on, Salsa! Cuban music.
@migve13 umm what are you talking about? Nobody listens to African music?? Get a life you loser. If that was true then how come broadway is doing a musical on the great Nigerian singer fela Kuti?? If African music is soo fogotten and has no modern relevance they why is there a resurgence in Afrobeat music around the world. Including Afrobeat bands in Europe and the U.S. ?? You r really ignorant without Africa you wouldn't have your damn music.
Everybody listens mainly 2 American music & latin music or other music, but raw african music is a thing of the past. All these african musicians u mention are making music that is a mixture of other music and their music, but if you make pure African music, every body runs away & leave the theater. Even Africans i´ve met, studied with or lived with, listen mostly 2 modern American or British music, even dress as such. Who the hell will here tribal music in their car or home, you? get a life!
No I don't think everything comes from Africa!! I'm not stupid some music has not connection to African I'm taking about the Latin music that can African heritage because the slaves from Africa helped to create that music by mixing latin music with traditional African music.
You WOULD, but DO you? I don't think so. Anyway, enjoy it. You know what i mean. Let's go around the world and ask every person: Do you listen to traditional african music? Most of them, 99.999999% will say NO. Maybe you can call them ignorant too.
Bonitaymorena, you are the ignorant one. You all african think everything the blacks have done or achieved in the world has to do with Africa. You even think Michael Jackson music and dance or success come from africa, but you are wrong. He, an American, was the king of pop because he was american in the first place. He wasn't born in africa or all the technology and stuff he used. Afrobeat music is a mixture of rhythms, including jazz and funk (american)(modern). Educate yourself.
For example Afrocuban music or how Yoruba culture and music is played in Havana Cuba when it originated in Nigeria. Secondly I'm Canadian. My parents are from the Caribbean and I said my ancestors were African but I wasn't born there so I'm not claiming to be an expert on the continent geez. You Africans? Talk about generalizing at least I didn't say all you Hispanic people because I know some of you acknowledge your African heritage and don't hate it.
Excuse me, some rhythms are similar and we don't deny our connection with Africa, never. You know the rhythm called Mozambique? It doesn't come from Mozambique, but Pedro Izquierdo, the creator, put that name as hommage to black people who were suffering because of war in that country. One more thing, learn before you speak, Yoruba music in Cuba is very very different from that in Nigeria. It was developed independently. Only that praises the same gods.
What? The most complex Cuban music (rhythmically) is definitely the oru seco y cantado, bata from nigeria. Oh well, some people are still racists, even though the music the blacks brought to Cuba is just as mportant as the European influence, some still fail to admit it.
My friend, what is this thing called european rythm, african rythm, european music? People have created music (eg Mozart) but nobody has invented music or its sounds. It just seems the europeans created the sound of a G7 chord, but you r wrong! If you've ever gone to d country side & hear lots of birds singing together, you will hear all those chords, sounds and rythms. Have you ever heard a sinsonte sing? A ruiseñor? Many of them together? you should. You know the "a caballo rythm"?
This is more like it, Please don't misunderstand me. What we on this page panel are referring to is CUBAN rhythm on it's origins. RUMBA, SON, GUAJIRA, JAZZ, ROCK AND ROLL, THE BLUES, SOUL, BOMBA, PLENA, SAMBA, CUMBIA, RAGGAE, HIP HOP, DISCO, all came from the AFRICAN. A BLACKMAN. By the way you sound like a Blanco I think you are.
My friends you all sound so racist and the shame is you then say the whites are racist. What does it matter whether i am a white or not. The point is Son, Guajira, Bolero, RockandRoll, POP etc, never existed before until some people born in the American continent created it, whether they were black or white. So many races contributed to this new creation and to what's being done today. Even the Japanese with their lovely synthesizers. Son from Africa? You need an aspirin!!!
@DjKalil I somewhat agree. According to a percussionists in a production i am working on, he said all music came from unitary source, of a creative being. We are facilitators as the internal emotions and energy transcends. What i think the Afrocubans managed to do is they broke the code for the emotions / soul matrix, the 2-3 clave to the human soul rhythm concept. As you know 2/3 the pie is the base of divine creative mathematics and music with this algorithm will make you intuitively respond.
And don't get me wrong...puertoricans are great, and they did revolutionized the sound of traditional cuban music, but still, the true masters are the cubans.
The first song is a bolero sung by Daniel Santos. The second one is a pachanga (charanga is the type of band that plays pachanga music) I believe it is interpreted by orquesta aragon. The third one is a Guaracha by celia cruz and sonora matancera. The last one is a son by Ibrahim ferrer and los bocucos. All of them cuban, except for daniel santos. Sorry to disagree with edwardo alvarez, but I think cubans are better. They invented this music and they are the true masters.
The first singer surely sounds like Daniel Santos, a great Puertorican singer who Cubans loved. Those Cubans who seem to reject other cultures are the exception, but love to make nasty comments in youtube. Most Cubans are internationalists, now more than ever.
These are Cubans Singers how on earth are you going to compair them with the Puerto Ricans. You must be high on Crack. Cubans are very unique in there Music and Singing. They are the Best of the very Best.
The first is Bolero not a Son and it's sung by a Puerto Rican Daniel Santos. The second is a Chachacha/Charanga not Son. The 3rd is Cuban Son by Celia Cruz. The 4th is a NY Salsa. The picture are Cuban artists mainly, although I see Johnny Pacheco a Dominican. Not a criticism but the title is slightly misleading.
you are very right....lots of cubans think they invented this music.....;of course it came from cuba but it doesnt take away the fact that in other countries theres very good singers from this music that do it better like venezuela, colombia and of course puerto rico
It doesn't who is singing it? what matters is that we have the love for our countries!! Puerto rico and Cuba the only that divides Puerto Rico and cuba is the color on the flag.. it's all good !!! love our culture..
what is the song at 3:50 ? Please :)

RNA probably got much of it's dense information from harmonies which embody rhythms and visa-versa.
We express this music when we're at our most human - in a sense.

Ayshortier,
Go to youtube and type Ruben Gonzalez, listen to the video named In Memory, the song is called Tumbao. Just the same as a passenger plane is too advanced for Africa, our Cuban music is far too advanced for you too. You may have invented the Cart but never compare it with a Ferrari! Sorry.
migve13 2 years ago
listen to all African music, and you're here the rhythms. Moors inhabited Spain for 500 years. They left, but left the music behind. Then they were enslaved on Cuba for over 300 years. The music's origins is from Africa. A little research please
Tsadik6251 2 years ago
Nobody listens to African music brother. The world moved forward but Africa stayed there with the same rituals that you've continued to do for thousands of years without change. Cuban music is a different world from Spain and from Africa. Don't forget 200 years ago we did´t have cars, computers, telephones, light bulbs or electricity, washing machines, etc. You keep going back 400 years ago? what for? We moved on, Salsa! Cuban music.
migve13 2 years ago
@migve13 umm what are you talking about? Nobody listens to African music?? Get a life you loser. If that was true then how come broadway is doing a musical on the great Nigerian singer fela Kuti?? If African music is soo fogotten and has no modern relevance they why is there a resurgence in Afrobeat music around the world. Including Afrobeat bands in Europe and the U.S. ?? You r really ignorant without Africa you wouldn't have your damn music.
Bonitaymorena 2 years ago
Everybody listens mainly 2 American music & latin music or other music, but raw african music is a thing of the past. All these african musicians u mention are making music that is a mixture of other music and their music, but if you make pure African music, every body runs away & leave the theater. Even Africans i´ve met, studied with or lived with, listen mostly 2 modern American or British music, even dress as such. Who the hell will here tribal music in their car or home, you? get a life!
migve13 2 years ago
No I don't think everything comes from Africa!! I'm not stupid some music has not connection to African I'm taking about the Latin music that can African heritage because the slaves from Africa helped to create that music by mixing latin music with traditional African music.
Bonitaymorena 2 years ago
your comment is ignorant, i would listen to african music.
CubaColombianito 2 years ago
You WOULD, but DO you? I don't think so. Anyway, enjoy it. You know what i mean. Let's go around the world and ask every person: Do you listen to traditional african music? Most of them, 99.999999% will say NO. Maybe you can call them ignorant too.
migve13 2 years ago
Bonitaymorena, you are the ignorant one. You all african think everything the blacks have done or achieved in the world has to do with Africa. You even think Michael Jackson music and dance or success come from africa, but you are wrong. He, an American, was the king of pop because he was american in the first place. He wasn't born in africa or all the technology and stuff he used. Afrobeat music is a mixture of rhythms, including jazz and funk (american)(modern). Educate yourself.
migve13 2 years ago
For example Afrocuban music or how Yoruba culture and music is played in Havana Cuba when it originated in Nigeria. Secondly I'm Canadian. My parents are from the Caribbean and I said my ancestors were African but I wasn't born there so I'm not claiming to be an expert on the continent geez. You Africans? Talk about generalizing at least I didn't say all you Hispanic people because I know some of you acknowledge your African heritage and don't hate it.
Bonitaymorena 2 years ago
Excuse me, some rhythms are similar and we don't deny our connection with Africa, never. You know the rhythm called Mozambique? It doesn't come from Mozambique, but Pedro Izquierdo, the creator, put that name as hommage to black people who were suffering because of war in that country. One more thing, learn before you speak, Yoruba music in Cuba is very very different from that in Nigeria. It was developed independently. Only that praises the same gods.
migve13 2 years ago
What? The most complex Cuban music (rhythmically) is definitely the oru seco y cantado, bata from nigeria. Oh well, some people are still racists, even though the music the blacks brought to Cuba is just as mportant as the European influence, some still fail to admit it.
pcastag1 2 years ago
My friend, what is this thing called european rythm, african rythm, european music? People have created music (eg Mozart) but nobody has invented music or its sounds. It just seems the europeans created the sound of a G7 chord, but you r wrong! If you've ever gone to d country side & hear lots of birds singing together, you will hear all those chords, sounds and rythms. Have you ever heard a sinsonte sing? A ruiseñor? Many of them together? you should. You know the "a caballo rythm"?
migve13 2 years ago
This is more like it, Please don't misunderstand me. What we on this page panel are referring to is CUBAN rhythm on it's origins. RUMBA, SON, GUAJIRA, JAZZ, ROCK AND ROLL, THE BLUES, SOUL, BOMBA, PLENA, SAMBA, CUMBIA, RAGGAE, HIP HOP, DISCO, all came from the AFRICAN. A BLACKMAN. By the way you sound like a Blanco I think you are.
masterdeeable1 2 years ago
My friends you all sound so racist and the shame is you then say the whites are racist. What does it matter whether i am a white or not. The point is Son, Guajira, Bolero, RockandRoll, POP etc, never existed before until some people born in the American continent created it, whether they were black or white. So many races contributed to this new creation and to what's being done today. Even the Japanese with their lovely synthesizers. Son from Africa? You need an aspirin!!!
migve13 2 years ago
@DjKalil I somewhat agree. According to a percussionists in a production i am working on, he said all music came from unitary source, of a creative being. We are facilitators as the internal emotions and energy transcends. What i think the Afrocubans managed to do is they broke the code for the emotions / soul matrix, the 2-3 clave to the human soul rhythm concept. As you know 2/3 the pie is the base of divine creative mathematics and music with this algorithm will make you intuitively respond.

And don't get me wrong...puertoricans are great, and they did revolutionized the sound of traditional cuban music, but still, the true masters are the cubans.
tlacoyodeldf 2 years ago
The first song is a bolero sung by Daniel Santos. The second one is a pachanga (charanga is the type of band that plays pachanga music) I believe it is interpreted by orquesta aragon. The third one is a Guaracha by celia cruz and sonora matancera. The last one is a son by Ibrahim ferrer and los bocucos. All of them cuban, except for daniel santos. Sorry to disagree with edwardo alvarez, but I think cubans are better. They invented this music and they are the true masters.
tlacoyodeldf 2 years ago
look up the song buddy i know my classics too and its not hard to confuse the two. just giving props where to the person who sings it.
chillinricanftw 2 years ago
The first singer surely sounds like Daniel Santos, a great Puertorican singer who Cubans loved. Those Cubans who seem to reject other cultures are the exception, but love to make nasty comments in youtube. Most Cubans are internationalists, now more than ever.

These are Cubans Singers how on earth are you going to compair them with the Puerto Ricans. You must be high on Crack. Cubans are very unique in there Music and Singing. They are the Best of the very Best.
edwardoalvarez22 2 years ago
This is a Bolero not a Son and is sung by a PuertoRican Daniel Santos
derbeno 2 years ago
The first is Bolero not a Son and it's sung by a Puerto Rican Daniel Santos. The second is a Chachacha/Charanga not Son. The 3rd is Cuban Son by Celia Cruz. The 4th is a NY Salsa. The picture are Cuban artists mainly, although I see Johnny Pacheco a Dominican. Not a criticism but the title is slightly misleading.
derbeno 2 years ago
thank you! props should be given to who sings it. yes it can be misleading but just because the title says its cuabn doesnt remove the possibility.
chillinricanftw 2 years ago
you are very right....lots of cubans think they invented this music.....;of course it came from cuba but it doesnt take away the fact that in other countries theres very good singers from this music that do it better like venezuela, colombia and of course puerto rico

It doesn't who is singing it? what matters is that we have the love for our countries!! Puerto rico and Cuba the only that divides Puerto Rico and cuba is the color on the flag.. it's all good !!! love our culture..
