Skyfire is way better than the self-indulgent crap that COB puts out. Skyfire actually *writes songs* and Children of Bodom reuse the same riffs and same ideas for every song now. And don;t get me started on the lyrics....Alexi Laiho should either learn Engrish Grammar or just write in his Native Finnish tongue. COB hasn't put out anything of value in nearly 11 years. Skyfire is way more unique and original than COB. As far as "melodic" Bands from the north, Kalmah is better than COB too.

skyfire are far better songwriters than CoB, have far better vocals and lyrics.

while i am a CoB fan, alexi's voice can be pretty annoying at times, some of their music is too simple and repetitive, and they have some of the most astoundingly stupid lyrics.

@DanteMelancholia I accept your opinion. But IMO Norther kicks Bodoms ass all the way. And they didn´t took Bodoms music. The first two Albums sound really like old Bodom, but Norther sounds really different since Death Unlimited. I´m a big Norther fan and i really like Bodom till HCD. But relentless reckless forever is the worst Album I´ve ever heard. Just Not my funeral is a good song on the Album.

@DanteMelancholia classic bodom is unbeatably awesome, no one can deny that Hatebreeder is a contender for best Melodeath album ever. But thesedays i'd take Norther because they have stayed true to real melodeath.

i know everyones talking about skyfire sounding like children of bodom and all the rest, heres an idea, Skyfire do sound kind of like children of bodom in a lot of the melodies and stuff but since they are both melodic death metal it is only natural to similarities. Of course there are also differences like the vocals sound closer to Ensiferum or Opeth than children of bodom. But i like both bands, cob are clearly talented as are skyfire. So i'm cool with both, anyone else agree?

@kalmahman48 dude, show some respect for COB. maybe they don't that much like skyfire to you, but even so, they're first 3 albums were metal masterpieces. It hasn't been so great since then, but lots of bands hit rough patches. Plus alexi's vocals aren't really bad, they're fairly typical of the genre, as is the jens johansson influenced keyboard sound
