Are these F7's or F9? I can't really tell the difference.

You shouldn't be able to tell as the external differences are minimal. It's the mechanicals that make the difference.

These units are clearly F9s. If you look at photographs of F7s, you will notice there are 4 louvers, all between the 2 portholes. This is also true of the later built F3s. F9s have 5 louvers, 4 between the portholes, & 1 in front of the front porthole, & behind the door going into the cab. You can plainly see this on the KCS units. This is what clearly distinguishes the much rarer F9 from the F7.
