  • fuck the eagles !

  • Ians taking the piss , This song was 1969 and Hotel california was 1976.

Come on Ian enough of this crap , both songs are great

  • My favorite Tull tune. I like how Martin played it with a different sounding guitar.

  • funny? I heard "Nights in White Satin" ha ha just kidding.

  • Wow! i didn't know this!

  • Is he slowly turning into Satin since the 70s. :) Great song!! Does sound very similar to Hotel California too

  • these guys always reminds me of magic and elves and shit.. :)

  • @Janitor989 Me too! Fairies and pixies and frolicking through some enchanted woods LOL!

  • The reason Hotel California is more popular is simple, the Eagles are a Pop band, Tull is a true Rock And Roll band, huge difference, popularity has nothing to do with the quality of the music, anybody hear of Brittany Spears?

  • @karatoula

    Who?

    :D

  • Sounds NOTHING like hotel california.

  • @astroman30 Are you kidding? The opening is pure Hotel California.

  • @bc1358 No I'm not kidding mate. It's a bit of a stretch to sound like Hotel California. Chord sequence may be the same, but take a listen to "25 or 6 to 4," "While MY Guitar Gently Weeps," and even "Geek Stink Breath." All three have the same descending chords but hardly alike in timing. "Hotel Cali" has more of a spanish style to its playing.

  • Magnifique!

  • Martin Barre makes Buckingham look like an amateur. If the Eagles stole this riff they owe Tull a fortune.

  • @demmylowther ease up mouthy guy. I don't think Ian has a problem with it, in fact he's always sounded quite proud of the fact the eagles borrowed the tune. If you can be bothered to search, the Eagles are on record confirming they nicked the tune from tull.

Using your method of divining song quality - 'I have always loved you' by that shouty woman who's name i forget would probably the greatest song in the world, ever. Or that one from Titanic. Which is patent nonsense.

  • @demmylowther DUUR HUUR CAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS MUSIC THAT IS THE MOST POPULAR IS BETTER HUUR.

I guess Brittany Spears is better then the Eagles then.

  • @demmylowther Could you speak up a bit, it's hard to hear your foolishness when your head is so far up your arse.

  • Ian has some sort of madical condition which restricts his vocal chords because he plays the flute as well. Inseperable, I know, but I'd rather he sing and give us that rich voice.

  • I hate to admit it, but unknownkingdom has a point. I think Ian has tried to force his voice too much in recent years. If one listens to "A Jethro Tull Christmas Album", Ian doesn't sound bad at all. Then again, that is a studio recording and this is live.

  • Eek, Ian's voice sounds crappy compared to his younger days. Plus he sings almost the whole song flat.

Sorry, but the singing is awful.

  • So, Thank You, Guys!! ;)

  • yeaah :D

    perfectt

  • what a great performance, just love this song

  • Thanks!
