very blessed that the nfl and mlb was able to expose the talent that bo jackson has. extremely sad and heart hurting to know how short his career was, knowin how much potential he had, and not letting him in, in the HOF...once in a century player.
Berry sanders is still the best running back ever Bo Jackson wouldn't have changed that so it's not like we lost a HOF player we just lost a good player
That last run, I watched that game and remember them thinking it was a minor injury. I also remember when they announced the hip injury later but few thought it would end his career. Sad day for sports because he would have been a HOF back for sure.
@georgeshute both power runners who could dash in the open field if they weren't running you over. Their running styles were indistinguishable. And both had injury-shortened careers.
the last tackle at the end there .... it's like his waist does a 360 while his legs stay in place, no wonder he broke his hip ..... oh well at least we still have him in NES's Tecmo Super Bowl
The best Raiders RB ever! That was a sad day against Cincinnati. They would have went to the Super Bowl and interupted Buffalo's streak if that wouldn't have happened. I was telling some young Raiders fans that Bo had the size and power of Michael Bush and was faster and more agile than McFadden. They didn't believe me.
Most Cincinnati Bengal fans swear up and down things have not gone right since that 1990 playoff game in which Bo Jackson got hurt in.
We kill Bo's career and the Bengals go 14 consecutive years without making the playoffs. And when we finally get back there in 2005, Carson Palmer goes down on the 3rd offense play of the game for Cincinnati.
Maybe with the Bengals trading Carson to the Raiders, maybe we can finally get over what we call . . .
Well you guys are also missing the fact of if the healing process went right and Bo healed properly, he could have came back and been doing work in no time. Being the healing went weird and Bo wasn't ever the same again, he unfortunately had to retire
4.12 40-Yard time, great baseball player, great football player. Had this tackle never happened he would've been a hall of fame running back, and could've span his career longer and possibly set unbreakable records...

Does anybody know if he would've gotten that injury here in the present, would we be able to fix it?? I know it really doesnt matter I'm just curious...
@jruiz94 Garrison Hearst had a similar injury in a playoff game in Atlanta in 1998. It took two seasons to heal but he did return and had a great year.
I was actually at that game as a child, which was the only Raiders game my father took me too because of the random fights that happened in the stadium. Still can't believe that was the end of Bo.
I love it how Bo turns around incredulously after Jones catches him from behind. Bo whips around as if to say, "WHAT?!? Who dares try to catch Bo Jackson from behind?!?". I wouldn't be surprised if that was the only time that ever happened to him, in his entire life. It must have been a very unfamiliar feeling for Bo.
Bo Jackson, definitely better athlete than Barry Sanders. But only Sanders has proven he can put up HOF numbers without good blocking every other HOF running back had. If I had no O-line and wanted to win right away, Barry. Which is better just depends on your belief of the word "better"
Frank Thomas could have, as could have Dave Winfield, and Dave could have done it in THREE sports. Not just two.
Charlie Ward has managed to do it (Albeit was college for football, and pro for basketball). Still to be a Heisman trophy winning QB then an NBA point guard is impressive.
@jmarquise yea your right he didnt run for 1000 yards he ran for 2,782 yards and 16 touchdowns the 5 years he played pro football if thats no wrecking then you either dont watch or play football or are a complete idiot..
@abelUSMC6691 1000 yards in a season dipshit. he was a backup to marcus allen. so he averaged 556 yards per season huh? yeah, that is a one man wrecking crew. give me a break. he was good when he had the ball, but his career was way too short. don't forget his lifetime .250 batting average and 141 lifetime home runs. yup, one man wrecking crew. he might have been better than ki-jana carter.
@balisticmissile1995 what? jonah has never played a down in this sport so yes theres no comparison. jonah was a great RUGBY player but he never did anything in af football. Just go stick with your rugby videos.
Everyone always says this is the greatest athlete in recent memory, but the worlds greatest athlete shouldn't be gassed after 100 yards of sprinting. No stamina what so ever.
@TheShlizzer I guess you never saw Adrian Peterson take his 25th carry and go 64 yards for a TD while forcing 5 missed tackles. The world's greatest athlete shouldn't be gassed in a football game.
@conspicuousjim You're dumb as fuck he went at least 150 yds overall, while averting tacklers the whole time. Also, show me one play Adrian Peterson made that had any resemblence to this and don't show me his fucking high school highlights either.
Even if he didn't get injured he wasn't gonna be around for very long. He came into the league at age 25 and running backs peak between ages 24-27 with 22 and 23 not far behind. He just started too late.

Now I remember why I would draw the air guns and shoot after I scored touch downs as a kid playing football. This man right here... An inspiration, a role model, and one of the most excited players ever to don the silver and black. Thank you Mr. Jackson for all the memories.
the end breaks my heart.."doesnt appear to be serious..looks like a pulled muscle"....nobody in the world would have guessed that would be the killing blow to the worlds greatest athelete.. :(
if he only he would have gone out of bounce instead of trying to get a few more yards on that last run. that wasn't his style though. just image how many super bowls the raiders could have had if he didn't end his career right there.
@meercat30 he's like a cross between chris johnson and adrain peterson is how i think of him. and only if he had barry sanders in him you couldn't touch him.
@idontnoapassword A better comparison would be the speed of OJ Simpson with the power of Earl Campbell. Many people forget OJ was once a WR holder in the 4 X 100 meter relay team as a member of the USC track team. Bo is the only other RB in history that compares to campbell in the power category.
Bo Jackson will always be my favorite football player!!! One day when my boy is old enough I will show him what I saw from Bo with these YouTube videos.
@medicmunoz I see a mix of Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen when i see Darren McFadden on the field. The man is freakin awesome. I beleave Darren will be better then Bo, Because he will have a long wonerfull Raider carrier and break alot of records on the way, just like Bo would of done if he didnot get injured.
@Darkscott626 NO your wrong asshole, He COULDN'T play football anymore. Baseball is a non contact sport, thats why he could play it and he was pretty damn good I'd say. I mean he hit a home run on his 1st at bat back from the injury. He's a badass, a heisman trophy winner, and would have been the best RB everrrr. He was probably the best athlete who ever lived and it's a shame ALL he could do was play baseball...such a damn shame...because baseball just can't compare to football.
Theres no way he ran a 4.12. By the looks of all his highlights I'd put him around 4.31-4.32. Maybe 4.29, but Chris johnson is scoring in that highlight. Bo still would have been the best though without the hip injury.
@ParadisePete If that's the case then Jones must be running a 3.9. Probably just exaggerations, Usian Bolt ran the fastest split of his record breaking run in 4.17 seconds. Bo raced some sprinters in the 80's and lost.(just barely) If Bolt beat their times than there's no way he's running a 4.08, or a 4.12. He is a freak of nature though!
best athlete ever, look at his baseball #'s! HoF baby. last play was a shame, looked so innocent, although the LB was kind of twisting his leg. who was the LB?
I cried when I found out that his career was over after being tackled in that Bengal game. What a talent he was, God know what he would of done if he didn't suffer the career ending injury.
@swabss Bo jackson was injured on a play , it was a freak injury to his hip, I dont know if anyone has ever had that injury since, but he could no longer play football. He played baseball from then on, it left him with a lip but he still played a couple of more years with the white sox.
@BSThePrince nah ima say bo jackson (if he put his mind to it, and didnt injure his hip) was the best. not even gunna compare wat bo could have done to wat barry sanders did
@BSThePrince im sorry barry sanders was good, but you have to understand that he wasnt the athlete bo was. and also bo was consitent. barry was short yarage, short yardage, then a long run. while bo was linear speed running straight into your opponent.
@link182ava44 he landed on his hip and it ended up damaging the blood supply to his hip which lead to the degenerative condition which lead him to have to have an artificial hip implanted.
You guys can talk all you want about these "sprinters" and if they had Bo's size they would of broke many records. Well folks, they dont have the size therefore their is only one Bo
Watching these runs brought back so many memories for me. I saw him on TV when the Raiders played the Seahawks on MNF. The look on Boz sitting on the bench like he was hit by a freight train was priceless. Every touch of the football was a potential TD. I never wanted to go to the bathroom whenever the Raiders were on offense. I also remember the play where he was injured and ended his career. What could have been.
That last highlight was the hit that ended his career as he landed on his hip and it ended up damaging the blood supply to his hip which lead to the degenerative condition which lead him to have to have an artificial hip implanted.
He never played football again but did play pro baseball again albeit an abbreviated time.
"Appears not to be seriously injured." Little did anyone know, he would never play football again. I can't believe he did so much damage to his hip with that play - didn't look bad at all. I wonder if his hip could have been surgically repaired better in todays day and age. Such a shame.
If he just focused on football, I wonder what his stats would have been in a 16 game season. 11 games is the most he played in one season. Unreal that he never had a 1,000 yard season.
May Kevin Walker BURN in hell !!!!! Long LIVE Bo Jackson.. his legend will live forever. Any fan of Bo Jackson should try & get the ESPN sports century on Bo Jackson. It'll make u tear up.. lol (anybody finds it send me a MESSAGE ASAP)
@Willynbtx YOU couldnt have said it any better!! The athlete who inspired many to pick up a football.. was cut down in seconds. It hurts me to watch this video, but I keep it on replay in disbelief hoping that it was just a DREAM.
I am doing a project on bo jackson and he was a BEAST!!! Sucks he had a hip injury

mnvikingsfan36 11 months ago
He went on to have an average career in baseball... It's not that he was too severely injured to play football, he just had a heart for baseball.
Darkscott626 11 months ago
@Darkscott626 NO your wrong asshole, He COULDN'T play football anymore. Baseball is a non contact sport, thats why he could play it and he was pretty damn good I'd say. I mean he hit a home run on his 1st at bat back from the injury. He's a badass, a heisman trophy winner, and would have been the best RB everrrr. He was probably the best athlete who ever lived and it's a shame ALL he could do was play baseball...such a damn shame...because baseball just can't compare to football.

I think I read somewhere that Bo Jackson averaged 20+ yards per carry over his career versus the Bengals. LOL.

bo jackson= tru legend INDEED!!!!!!!
PairyHenis1 11 months ago
Theres no way he ran a 4.12. By the looks of all his highlights I'd put him around 4.31-4.32. Maybe 4.29, but Chris johnson is scoring in that highlight. Bo still would have been the best though without the hip injury.
BLong114 11 months ago
@BLong114
He was actually once timed (at an NFL Combine) at 4.08, which is the still the fastest ever at that type of venue.
ParadisePete 11 months ago
@ParadisePete If that's the case then Jones must be running a 3.9. Probably just exaggerations, Usian Bolt ran the fastest split of his record breaking run in 4.17 seconds. Bo raced some sprinters in the 80's and lost.(just barely) If Bolt beat their times than there's no way he's running a 4.08, or a 4.12. He is a freak of nature though!
BLong114 11 months ago
@BLong114 He ran an unofficial 4.12, officially 4.18 at the combine back in '86.
blakester3417 11 months ago
It's a damn shame he got hurt. He would have been the best when it was all said and done.

best athlete ever, look at his baseball #'s! HoF baby. last play was a shame, looked so innocent, although the LB was kind of twisting his leg. who was the LB?

I cried when I found out that his career was over after being tackled in that Bengal game. What a talent he was, God know what he would of done if he didn't suffer the career ending injury.

Sad to see that last run
Remember watching the game.
Bo was a beast...Dude could cut and move amazingly for a big man
FrenzyandLazerbeak 1 year ago
ACTUALLY BO WAS 6"1 240 LBS. perspective...there are linebackers that size today and still he had the speed.

That last run in the end. Knowing it was his last is almost depressing.

@cradlehead23 why was it his last? what happened to him? he still looked young....
swabss 1 year ago
@swabss Bo jackson was injured on a play , it was a freak injury to his hip, I dont know if anyone has ever had that injury since, but he could no longer play football. He played baseball from then on, it left him with a lip but he still played a couple of more years with the white sox.

@BSThePrince nah ima say bo jackson (if he put his mind to it, and didnt injure his hip) was the best. not even gunna compare wat bo could have done to wat barry sanders did

@BSThePrince sorry but you have made a big typeo you typed in barry sanders and not jim brown please look at your keyboard next time
AnthonyGhost 8 months ago
@BSThePrince im sorry barry sanders was good, but you have to understand that he wasnt the athlete bo was. and also bo was consitent. barry was short yarage, short yardage, then a long run. while bo was linear speed running straight into your opponent.

What was his injury?
link182ava44 1 year ago
@link182ava44 he landed on his hip and it ended up damaging the blood supply to his hip which lead to the degenerative condition which lead him to have to have an artificial hip implanted.
kingdontae22 1 year ago
@link182ava44 dislocated or broken hip, i know he had a fucked up hip so he retired juss like preist holmes

You guys can talk all you want about these "sprinters" and if they had Bo's size they would of broke many records. Well folks, they dont have the size therefore their is only one Bo
TravisFox4040 1 year ago

@2taggs
I like to see the guy play longer.
okayq 1 year ago
@2taggs2 Sadly yes Look at Sidney Rice had the same hip injury but he'll play again
ZegetaX1 1 year ago
If he just focused on football, I wonder what his stats would have been in a 16 game season. 11 games is the most he played in one season. Unreal that he never had a 1,000 yard season.

@2taggs2 i agree. deion could do it so y couldn't bo put 100% in football then concentrate on baseball second. guess he liked baseball more

@Willynbtx YOU couldnt have said it any better!! The athlete who inspired many to pick up a football.. was cut down in seconds. It hurts me to watch this video, but I keep it on replay in disbelief hoping that it was just a DREAM.

It almost looks like Bo is running on a different field than anyone else on the field.
