Milan Kundera has a great book called "Slowness". It parallels the lives of two couples. One pair in the 17th century and the other a modern day couple. A brilliant juxtaposition. This version of Let's Dance also happens to be a favourite of a friend of mine's whose funeral I went to today and was as his funeral march.

I love hearing M.Ward's voice but this is a bad music video. I'm kind of stunned some commenters here think this is a classic. I think it just kind of looks dead, static. That says nothing about it being important in music history, being a Bowie video and all that, but it doesn't have the right kind of ambiance for this song.

Well, I'm only guessing, and my guess is as good as anybody's, but maybe because there was something beautiful to be found in Bowie's lyrics that didn't come off in the original or in a fast version. I never knew this song was so beautiful until I heard M. Ward's cover. Slowing down a song usually forces you to pay more attention to the lyrics.

I also love Seu Jorge's Poruguese versions of some Bowie songs in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (but I speak a little Portuguese).
