WHY, WHY would anyone put such beautiful wheel on such an ugly-ass piece of shit vw golf. And paint them bright pink or green? WTF? There wheels are supposed to stay silver or gold. There's a place reserved in hell for those who did this. Here's a short list of only cars that are worthy of these wheels and on which the wheels look good:
Alfa Romeo 90 & 164 (other look better with OZ)
Old BMWs till 1990
Porsche 911s (up to 993)

I don't give a damn where it's played (whatever that even means 'it's played'?). I'm adressing the aesthetic, technical and practical issue. Let's start with aesthetic:
Golf is ugly. Aside from first two generations, which were from period when most cars were square boxes (though other car makers were still able to make their boxes quite good loking, e.g. Alfa, BMW), designers weren't able to think of anything but a shapeless, frigid, rounded blob.
With 6th gen, Italian designer, who already designed some really nice cars, some of which were awarded Car of the Year prize, and who apparently put more effort in rest of VW product range (Jetta, Passat) made the blob a bit less hideous, but still it's not too much to look at compared to say AR Giulietta, Fiat Bravo, Ford Focus, Mazda 3 etc. Here's the first contrast - very exquisite, beautiful AND retro-looking wheels on a modern car of quite poor design.
Technical - There is nothing special about golf. Suspension - twist beam at the rear until 5th generation, which uses multilink rear suspension. Nothing innovative here, Focus had 4-link Control Blade 4 years earlier. Lancia used 4-link rear suspension with passive steering since the 80s. Brakes - 1 pot floating calipers, 2-pot floating calipers on R32. Nothing special here either. Engines - they had the edge with diesels, but with arrival of Common Rail, they lost it quite quickly.
SDI - VW is the only car company that has the balls to put a naturally aspirated engine on sale in 21st century for a passanger car. It has to be the worst diesel engine ever. And that's not the end of it. 8v SOHC 1.6l engine still on sale in 2011 (over 20 years old engine), disastreous 3cylinders (you're lucky you don't get these in US). Rumor has it it was Lamborghini engineers who developed the TSI engine range, and that's the reason why VW bought Lambo in first place.
So, from technological point of view, golf isn't anything special, and it never was. In many ways it was inferior to its rivals, which is in contrast with its price. The legendary german reliability - that's really just a legend. Bosch components for example are chronically prone to failure. Early Golfs were given reputation of reliability because of their low equipment. Of course A/C, power windows, central door lock is not going break down when it isn't there.
Practical: Golf is not a status symbol nor a sports car, it's a sub-par small family car. BBS RS are very expensive and shiny. So combination of those two is ridiculous, and must inevitably make anyone outiside the VW/Audi community make feel disgusted.
Other thing - Golf is not a car with superior handling, performance or comfort. The enormous width and offset of the wheel, and stretched tires, that must make it even worse. What's the point of that?
@TheDamage32 The GTI in AMERICA is one of the top 10 best handling cars (according to Car & Driver). They are great reliable cars when taken care of. I like how you wasted 20 minutes of your life replying to my biased comment. Played means very very commonly used. The GTI has had the amazing Powerplant of a VR6 (Mk3,Mk4) And the 2.0T (Mk5,Mk6) both very nice engines.. And the .:R32 is an amazing car.

Conclusion:
I don't like the golf. I've stated enough reasons for that. If someone else does, it's his choice.
I do like the BBS RS though - there is no reason not to like them.
BUT THESE TWO SHOULD NOT BE COMBINED! There is no way these wheels possibly match the car and the combination is simply disgusting.
If everyone in VW community is not, and actually aproves it - God help you.
There are some BBS models that I might find good loking on Golf, but RS are not it.
