I am 56 yrs old and remembered 2 verses from camp a long long time ago! Variations are many, but great to know its still around! An old black cook would come out and sing it and we would do hand motions to it...a great memory!
This was originally a slave song and when I learned this in grade school it was "brother," not "children." Still it brings me back to the days of careless youth.
The children at church sang this at a funeral the other day. It really lightened up the mood. Thanks for posting!
