  • The best Health Care system in the World would be one that would be what works in America Freedom of Choice a very liberal idea. And a what works in France and Japan which keeps prices down. With a combination of Private and Public Health Care where the people can decide for themselves where to get they're insurance what hospitals and doctors to go to. That are Non Profit.

  • Oh and I got an ultrasound done under an hour while there.

  • I am a student who lives in Canada, and I can vouch that universal healthcare is an amazing thing. I started to have unusual abdominal pain just a few days ago and had to be escorted by taxi to a well-known hospital in Toronto for emergency treatment. All I had to do was submit my OHIP card, give them some information and within ten minutes they had me on a stretcher getting treatment. I only paid for my food($8-10) while at the hospital. All treatment and medication was free.

  • @cund: I am sure it is good in Canada...and good for you that it is. It would not be good here. Our Government could not pay for it. They already can not pay for all the things they want. Government run care would just put us deeper in the hole than we already are...and 14 trillion is a lot already.

  • I live in Texas. I have a broken tooth that hurts. In Texas, a donkey fucking redneck state, my Medicaid/Medicare dose not cover dentistry for anyone over 18, so the best I can hope for is to get painkillers and antibiotics, and wait for the nerve endings to die so the pain eventually goes away on it's own. Yeah, I have to wait for small pieces of me to die before the pain goes away. And our State Board of Education (Indoctrination) wants to remove science and insert Creationist fairy tales!

  • I also admit though, our country the US does not invest and spent people tax dollar wisely, like other countries. I mean, people in europe at least can say "yes we pay a bit more in taxes, but at least we have a secure system and get something back by taxes. They get Free education, free healthcare for life, 4-6 weeks vacation each year, required by the law,no limit how often u can be sick at work. In the US our tax dollars go to a war to kill other humans,a billion a month.we pay taxes,& get nothin

  • urat: The U.S. Government is unlike any in the world. We do things inefficiantly and the least cost effective ways, and we end up with things like Katrina Relief in New Orleans. Personally, I wish our Government was better at being efficient and cost effective, but they are not and anything we turn over to them will be a failure.

That is just the way it is, and people who live here know that. People who don't can not see it like we can.

  • Health care is not a "Human Right". Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution (Our list of rights) tells us that health care is a right, neither is food, water, clothing or housing...none of which are provided free by the Goverment.

People CAN and DO live without seeing a Doctor. People CAN NOT live without food. FYI: Food stamps are not free food, they are a subsidy for some people, but they are not available to all.

  • Then enjoy paying thru the nose when you get old and sick then!

  • right, its paid with taxes....and you're covered 100% for anything and everything.People who are against this are the same people, when they have a family member going through cancer, they beg and ask their neighbors and friends for donation.Pathetic and sad.

In no other country, people need to collect donation to care and hekp pay for a treatment, its provided by the country, via universal healthcare, thats what tax money does, its paid by the people and its for the people.Explain this to a Yank lol

  • urat: We are not going to have the tax base to support anything very soon. 90 million baby boomers will retire and stop paying payroll income tax. That is 1/3 of the whole US population.

Foreigners do not get it. Even most Americans do not get it. We can not sustain anything we have right now when those people (I am one) who retire and stop paying, and start collecting Social Security and Medicare. It is mathematically impossible. We can't add more entltlements, we need less than we have now.

  • @WeedaPeople Simply because it's not a human right does not mean people should not care for each other.

  • @logn: You and I have different ideas of caring. Making someone dependent on a Government who can not reach a budget, who can not be financially responsible, and who never do anything in the interest of the people is not caring for someone. It is turning them over to incompetents and putting them at undue risk.

  • @WeedaPeople Say that to Lithuania which is the most Libertarian nation in the world and yet implement a single payer healthcare system.

  • @logn: Okay...Hey Lithuania...You are not America and what you do would not work here...even if it works there...because you do not have the American Government to contend with...who can not reach a budget agreement, who can not be financially responsible and who never do anything in the interest of the people.

    *

    Was that good enough?

  • @WeedaPeople The huge anomaly in the federal budget is the so-called "defense" pie of the entire fund. $650 Billion to enrich the military industrial complex and the various government vendors who you think are "small business" pro-small gov't entities who are NeoCon leaning when in fact they are funded by taxpayers via gov't subsidies, re: Bachman's. Not good enough, so try again tomorrow.

  • @logn: Yeah...not buying the whole "Neocons" / "WhackoLibs" blame thing. Dems have this crazy notion they can grown an economy by creating more debt...something that has never worked in the history of history. Defense spending is high, but it got us BinLaden. Obama said he would stop the wars, but hasn't. The problem is both sides are still playing politics and not trying to fix the problems. We need the balanced budget amendment and have been saying so for decades. It is time is now.

  • (cont) Reagan gave in years ago and comprimised tax increases for spending cuts, and Dems never lived up to the spending cuts they promised. To assure we do not make that mistake again, there needs to be law passed to make sure the cuts get implemented and no one can jack around with them later, and claim they "had to do it"...for the betterment of the country...when doing so kills the foundation of the country. We need a law that makes sure we can not spend more than we take in.

  • I watched a 20/20 video called "Sick In America" with John Stossil (Available to be seen on YouTube). They showed Canadians waiting for MRI's for months, but cats and dogs could get one immediately. This is not right wing superstition...it is fact.

Canada has 33 million people based in a handful of cities, where America has 303 million people in hundreds of population centers. To compare one to the other is ridiculous.

  • As someone who lives and was born in Canada, I call bullshit on you. I never had to wait more than 30 minutes to see someone.

That report had more holes than swiss cheese.

  • The media, the politicians, insurance companies know how dumb and uneducated the americans are, even europeans know "americans are dumb, once u meet them and have a conversation" thats known fact. Imagine how easy it is,to fool a nation with lies and make it believeable.U can only do this with a dumb nation. I am originally from Germany,I can tell you,Universal healthcare is the best logial human thing.

U get care, right away,no matter what illness or surgery u need, how often u need it, for FREE!

  • Well technically you pay for it thru your taxes. It's mind numbing though, paying for an over-inflated military budget? No problem.

Paying for universal healthcare? Big problem for the average yank. Go figure.

  • h3w0: You do not understand how our Government works. The Military budget is a whole different poit of money. Even if we stopped all spending on the military, that money could not go to entitlement programs.

I would rather be the average American Yank than the average Canadian Wank. OUR big problems are not YOUR problem at all. You stay up there and worry about Canada and your own issues and let us worry about ours.

  • urat: Goody for you. Stay in Germany and do not meddle in our business.

  • Weeda,I am an American.I lived in germany. You are typical ignorant american, if someone gives you an idea how its done better and perfectly in another country, uneducated idiots like you say "well go to that country" do you realize how uneducated and ignorant that sound. Lets face it, people brought up the idea ,how women are allowed vote in european countries, but we did not allow that, guess what.Because it was brought up,and people realized,in other countries women can vote? we should too.

  • urat: We are not Germany. They have 1/10th the people in an area the size of Texas. They do not have our baby boomer problem, our form of Government with all of the hidden costs and inefficiency built in. They do not have our two party system or our congress. To compare the two is insane.

  • (cont)I am not the ignorant one here. I know what we are and what we are not, so selling socialism to me won't work. I am not that naive.

  • @muratshawn What do you do for a living, besides judging people? Seriously.

I assume you know the history of

Germany, as well as Stalin, Mao, etc., re: healthcare; How it started and the outcomes.

Someone pays for that healthcare, nothing is free. My vote is for deciding which doctor is best, spending my money, taking care of my body, not expecting others to pay for non-healthy lifestyles, including abortions. I didn't sleep with them and it's 'their' body and private business.

  • And who just came here for healthcare from Canada?

  • h3w0: As someone who lives in Canada, American health care is none of your business. Your own country has plenty of problems for you to worry about...so stop trying to meddle in affairs that do not conern you.

You foreign jerks have no say in how we conduct our own business.

  • Tut-Tut, you Americans like to mess with other countries and tell US how to live our lives, we get to tell you the same. Bottom line? Suck it up asshole!!

  • h3w0: We should not meddle either. I am not saying that what our Government does with other countries is right. In fact I think it is totally wrong. If Canada has a problem, let Canada solve it. If you violate a treaty or surrender agreements from a war, like Iraq did, we come and kick your ass. That is how it works.

Basically, I think we should be isolationist and stop sending aid to everyone who has a hand out.

  • Thank you Canada - for sharing this with us US citizens. I am one that is in favor of the Proposed healhcare reform for America. And I wish more Americans would quit listening to all the mis-information on the media and take there blinders off.

    Thank you again!

  • Right wing US conservatives:

You want the military to protect you from terrorists.

You want the police to protect you from burglars.

You want the fire department to protect you from fire.

You want the FDA to protect you from being injured or poisoned from stuff...? Wait, do you? Some of you don't I guess.

But you don't want a government health insurance plan to protect anyone who so elects to use it to protect that person from CANCER? Are you out of your fucking minds?

  • That's not the Canadian healthcare system. Where are all the death panels and commie nazis with guns? or was that nazi commies i get all my info from Rush Limbaugh who is definitely NOT a fat drug user too wasted to know what he is talking about.

  • Thanks man, I really needed this because I'm shit tired of Americans bad mouthing the Canadian health care system when they know jack shit about it.

  • Comment removed

  • The woman at 2:27 is the first Canadian I've ever heard say "aboot" instead of "about" and "tousand" instead of "thousand."

    Awesome video.

  • that's her french accent... half my family speaks English that way... it gets worse the drunker they get.. !

  • Good of you to post this. It is aggravating to see how they portrait the canadian health care system. Like the man said I don't care but it is getting a bit tiresome to hear them use this for their propaganda machine.

  • Bloody good video with a bloody good message.

  • Thank you! I figured I'd be part of those who tell these gits where they can stick it with their lies!

  • Interesting.
