I have an 09 TE 450 Husky. 284 pounds top heavey. Rode an 09 crf 450r this weekend. Very light 240 pounds felt like a 250 tons of power. Crf is tough in the tight trails fun as hell in the openThe Te is a tractor in the woods but 45 extra pounds kicks your but when you get out of shape on a hill. Depends on what your going to do. Moto and hair scarmbles crf great. Tight trails wood big hill TE WR X model transmission get it done. .

I have an 06 WR450F with grey wire mod and an unbaffled exhaust....It has standard gearing but if i dropped the gearing it would be an animal.....Its still fairly potent as is with standard gearing and a couple of mods....Its enough....

check out turkey bay land between the lakes. some guys have some helmet cam stuff on here. That's some awesome stuff to ride. You have to stay 100% focused and think about everything you do there. Crazy, ruts, rocks, hills, whatever you want.

You guys ..what do u know !! if you where any good you would know that the wr 450, has raw power, a strong twin cam 5 valve engine that is bulit proof, ..its big and heavy and only any good if your over 6 foot tall, and able to throw it about. Its a handful in and enduro because of its weight and slow to turn compared to a ktm, ..they could do with getting rid of the cable clutch, that would make it easier to ride in long events when ur on the clutch in the tricky stuff......as for the honda,!!

Before i bought my 450 i rode the WR CRF and EXC all 2006 models and the WR was head and shoulders above the other 2 bikes as far as my riding style was concerned. that isnt to say the KTM and Honda arent any good. Half the time these days its just pick a colour. I cant wait to get my YZ490, im so going to die on that thing.

guys, im in australia and will ride my new bike atleast 3 times a month. Mostly on dusty tracks but can also get wet in winter.

I used to own a cr80 when i was 12. I havent ridden for bout 9 years.

I want a bike that is fast off the line, not top end speed. I also will take it to the track for some jumping.

Also want it road legal..

Both are awesome but I don't think a WR isn't a fair match for a CRF450R. However the WR has the top speed at least. Things would have to get pretty hairy for the tractability of the WR to out do the extra +10hp and -20lbs the CR has to the advantage. I like a bike with legs and a light for play riding personally. I'm to old to race so...... Nice video and great riding!

hey guys im 16 turning 17 in about 6 months i just sold my kx100 and was wondering weather a wr450f would have to much power for me and would be better off with a 250f

im 16 and have a 2000 wr400 with a power bomb and aftermarket muffler. that thing has a ton of power. it really depends on where you ride and how hard you ride. both bikes will get you anywhere. if you are into serious dune riding, i suggest the 450, but the 250 will do it. depending on how long you want to keep it, get the 450 if you want to keep it for a long time. the 250 is slightly lighter, though. and if you want to jump a little higher get the 250, less stress on the frame.

You would have to Replace the exhaust cam on the wr450f to a yz450 cam, then clip the grey wire to the CDI, and the timing still wont be the same. Also the wr450 has a flywheel weight, the CRF450R doesn't. So its not just a matter of a pipe. Not to mention the CRF probably weights 30 lbs. lighter.

race mx bikes enduro just change up the gearing.. and put in some offroad mods.. hanguards skid plate.. tie up your spokes... tool packs.. and if you can a headlight setup for those night races.. and youll smoke all the wrf's and crf_x's youll find

Yep the only difference between enduro and mx bikes is the gearing and that can be felt in low gears and high gears. If you want a 450 get the mx model, in the 125's 250's 2 stroke its not much of a difference except the top speed, all that really matters is the driver and a genius mecanic could help too...

Got that right , I own 2-426's , and its mostly 2 gears everywhere(woods&trails).

They perform quite well on the track too,the tractability is so different.

Love my 2-strokes too: (81-yz465,79-yz400,01-yz250,78­-dt400)

I admit it !! 44 yrs old and 4-strokes take a lot less finessing the clutch and shifting.

They are comparing apples to oranges, the crf450 is just that a crf450R not a X. The wr450 is a 2006 - 2003 (not aluminum framed). They're comparing a crf450R (race bike) to a WR450 (a trail bike. So in these conditions, the honda will be on top, no competition.

That is an older CRF by the looks of it (2003-2005) and that WR looks newer. That may be the reason for what seems to be better throttle response and those conditions in the video are what WR's accel in, CRF's are made to race on the track.

I'd go for the Honda if I was a amateur or a pro. Honda is a compromise in a good way, engine is good, suspension and feel is way better than the Yamaha. Cross or Enduro, I'd go for the Honda.

If your trying to decide between the crf450x and crf450r, another thing to think of is where do you ride, the crf450x is a green sticker and the crf 450r is a red sticker, I hate the idea of only being able to ride during part of the year (red sticker season) I'd choose the green sticker personally (crf450x)but I dont race competativly either.
