Our postal trucks are Ford Conects, they only have 75 hp diesel, but it's more than adequate. It is by far the best small van's out there, way better than the crappy french vans, but I haven't tried the new VW Caddy's yet.
I think it is a gimmick. The crash tests are good because the vehicle has little weight behind the front floorpan. Ford never crash tests their pickups with a full load of gravel in the bed.
I'm afraid of the future now, and will trade in my submarine for a minivan.
The worst part is the car would probably get the same gas mileage with the Focus RS engine the newer Volvo wagons get around 25-27mpg these things only get like 20-22 mpg stock and I'm sure it would be about the same with the Volvo/Focus RS engine swapped in.
Its a great little van and im seeing alot on the road today ... but theres No option for a Turbo deisel or even a 2.5l 4cylinder ? Im not going to mention a V6 since it probably wont fit into the small engine bay..
I like the van, but its only 2K less than an econoline??? Lets be real here this is a spartan FWD van based on a Focus drivetrain, built in Turkey. If this van started at 16,500 it would be a runaway success. But ford / chev actually sell full size vans to fleets and rental companies for far less than the transit connect. And lets face it the full size vans can go 200,000 miles + ... can a Focus?Hopefully Nissan does not make the same mistake.
I bought a 2010 in September, I've put 4k on it and love it. I plan on making it a mini camper so I preferred the unfinished cargo area. It has plenty of power to pass, easy to drive, perfect for road trips, does great in snow and ice and has some great accessories.
When compared to the E for Express, I don't think it looks dated at all (pretending I don't know that its been around in Europe for years). Its awkward proportions really make it stand out.

Love the van, hate the rust.....galvanising???
2/3 british winters and the rust scabs take hold, 5 years and extensive bodywork required.
Sort the rust issues and i might buy one next time, until then i'll stick to the galvanised French/ Italian...

In Europe there are guys that swap the Focus RS engine into these (the engine is a 300hp Volvo inline 5)

Yeah that cake isn't secured nearly well enough.

It looks like a Ford Fusion that reversed into a shed. But, anyway, it badly needs a diesel engine.

Still no diesel available! American Ford is weird... For god sake this car was built for mileage not for speed, it needs torque instead of hp.
klramon 1 year ago
so a ford ranger gets better fuel mileage and costs less than the transit van that replaces it... odd

they should make this available with the turbo 4 cylinder from the new explorer

i dont get it they call it the transit.. but instead of taking the real transit european van they take this one..

I like this.
Good vehicle for people that own stores like myself.

Interior looks dated, and so is performance. Would be nice to see an E-series engine in this Transit. However, the large cargo area makes up for it.

The styling is very dated. Looks like it's about ten years old.

who the hell needs a fast cargo van..
DevPack 2 years ago 5
Medical supply companies for one...plenty of businesses benefit from cargo vans...and if they get better gas mileage out of the deal, all the better.
