Nice video! I hope you are right and things are going to be alright eventually. However we need to prepare for the possibility that freedom and democracy are incompatible with Islam. It's one thing for communists to change their minds to democracy cause religion is not involved but Islam is more than a religion. It's a form of government and way of life that does not normally embrace freedom and democracy.

I don't know what you've been reading...or sniffing, but you will be much happier if you would just calm down long enough to realize America has no desire to keep Iraq or steal its resources. As soon as the Iraqi chosen government stabilizes we will beat feet out of there as quickly as we arrived and return only to help friends if they need us and ask. I promise--as an American soldier we only wish the best for Iraq and ask nothing in return.

English/British guy here & that's all our soldiers went for, but when suicide bombers & I.E.D.'s send our troops home in body bags or wheelchairs I wonder if its all worth it... no one can deny that the job both US, UK & other nations troops are doing is fantastic, wish I could say the same for our Governments

The reason that Tito was able to keep power was because the USSR was still nominally in control of Yugoslavia and would have invaded if there was an uprising like they did in Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The reason that the Iraqis didn't kill Sadaam was because they were afraid that the U.S. would kill the rebels as the U.S. betrayed the rebels in the wake of the Iraqi pullout from Kuwait in 1991 by allowing Sadaam to crush them.

The Iranians are infiltrating the Shiite areas anyway. The Sunni militias have easy access to Shia civilians at the moment. Iraq is such a mess right now and the only thing that held it together was the iron rule of a dictator.

What is your suggestion? I suppose your plan is to just let everyone in Iraq kill each other and do nothing.. I think that the U.S. has a moral obligation to leave the people of Iraq with the best chance for survival...

Why not take the bull by the horns and divide Iraq into sections so that the Kurds have their own state and the Shiites their own state and the Sunnis have their own state? Turkey wouldn't like the Kurdish independence but why does everything have to be OK by Turkey? It would be easier to stop the civil war if Iraq was divided.

The Iraqi parliament is a puppet of the U.S. as it depends on the U.S. to survive. There is no sovereignty in Iraq...it was taken away by Bush when he invaded. Your suggestion is to interfere further and draw political boundaries they wouldn't recognize. That isn't a real suggestion. Don't tell me you've come up with some great plan that everyone should see as being great. It's a fallacy. Iraq is a young country and probably shouldn't have been drawn the way it is. The solution isn't backtracking, it's moving forward.

I suggest that we draw up(or facilitate the drawing up by Iraqis main ethnic groups) boundaries for 3 new nation states only this time with attention to the ethnic groups and the demographics.

The Kurds have not had it this good in years and would be already half-way to independence if it were not for the pressure that Turkey can bring to bear on the U.S. not to grant then independence. As for the Shia and the Sunnis...well it seems that since they are slaughtering each other and intent on genocide that a split like what happened with India and Pakistan may be called for.
