Can you run all kinds of windows programs in ubuntu/linux? (WoW, Crysis, Office, microsoft games, itunes, avast that kind.) Im thinking to switch from W7 but i need to know this first since am starting to venture in this new area.

@Taneth21 Only if you run it through Wine, and in my experience WoW is the only thing that really runs well. You may want to try using Ultimate Edition, as the genius behind it has some windows programs (Full Tilt Poker and a few more) already in it I believe. Look for it, and see if it fits you. It's based on Ubuntu, so it's almost the same thing, just a bit cooler :D

It's showing the general functions of Ubuntu 9.04. Problem I see with it is the maker never spoke and seemed to show random bits of info and then skipped around and did not show much else...

it's actually really good and fun to use if u know how to use it , btw b4 saying fuk it it's to hard ect.. lol it's not that hard to understand it if u understand useing any winodws u'll get this but will take some extra time rather then other windows.

I like to think of Ubuntu as a game in itself... It's kind of hard to get some things to work, but in the end you almost always can, and you appreciate it a lot more. When I was trying to get my wifi driver to work in ubuntu, I spent two hours tweaking random things until it finally worked, and I was ecstatic! I ended up doing a victory dance. Windows and Mac aren't that fun. :)

i don't think you understand the point of linux...

besides ubuntu is compatable with plaenty of office programs and loads of hardware making it very usefull, not to say anything bad about mint.

Mkay...you can change the wallpaper without a system crash.

Ubuntu is the worst distro I've been using, 2 years on mint - works like the first day.

Ubuntu is, maybe, good for beginners because they usually like all those sparkly effects, but in real life you never ever need those.

Actually the problem isn't that much in ubuntu, it's more up to gnome, worst DE.

You want a stable and productive system? - Linux mint + XFCE

then what about ubuntu with xfce? xubuntu? theres all different distros of linux and anyone of them can be perfect for someone but linux is linux is linux because you can customize any distro to do something another distro can do. and i have to say i tried mint and it felt like a mix of opensuse and ubuntu with less features

Ano ono to ma svoj skryty vyznam :) Toto je video o Ubuntu 9.04 ktore bolo publikovane k clanku, a nemalo ukazovat Compiz (ktory by aj tak nesiel lebo to bezalo na starsom Virtualboxe) ani ziadne podobne veci na to mam ine video. Tu islo o nevececi ktore neboli v starsom ubuntu, cize ten plynuly prechod obrazkov, novy posuvnik na zvuk a neviem co vsetko :)

Well that was a difference I noticed in 9.04 too was the dissolve when the background is changed. If anyone needs examples of stuff to wow their friends, go to my channel, I show off Jack in Ubuntu Studio 9.04.. But I think what mrxapoh is showing is the changes to 9.04. 9.10 is said to have a major GUI overhaul.. But Ubuntu Studio (which you can install from Ubuntu) is even snazier looking than straight Ubuntu.. So at least if you don't get the realtime kernel and jack running, it looks cool.
