@RASHAD7650 Sadly my life is very similar to yours :( I also lost my dad when I was 6 years old on Fathers Day. I've also been very blessed to have my momma with me, she'll be 87 yrs old on March 30th :) I give thanks for her EVERYDAY!!! After all these years that have passed it still feels like yesterday that my Dad went home to be with the Lord. I don't believe in "Good-byes" it's just "So long" because one day we'll be reunited again in heaven :) ~ God Bless ~

I usually don't listen to much of this genre of music, mainly harder metal and stuff. That being said, you can't be human and not be touched by this song. I have an 8 month-old son, and there would be no greater honor than for him to remember me like Mr. Vandross remembered his father. Reading peoples posts makes me wanna cry if I had once chance to see my dad again i would thank him, he wont be there to walk me or my sisters down the ales or see his grand-kids grow up. It has been three years in August since he passed I know i will probably see him in the near future, if I do i will be the happiest person ever. But I still miss him today till then

This song makes me cry and appreciate my Dad, who is my best friend, mentor, and inspiration. We've never argued but have shared countless laughs, hang outs, and fun times. I love him so much and he knows it. Celine Dion has a song called Goodbyes The Saddest Word and its similar to this. Its her singing to her mother before she passes. It makes me tear up as well.

So fortunate to have still have my DAD in my life...but I truly miss my brother who had a beautiful 21 year old daughter...and I know she would LOVE TO "Dance with her Father Again."...He fought lung and brain cancer for over 2 years...he held on until he saw her graduate...what unbelievable will to keep going and the Love he held in his heart for her to fight those last few months...I KNOW HE IS AT PEACE...at last...Just a beautiful song to remember a loved one...

This is such a wonderful song,it is so amazing that while listening to this song that I can still vision myself as a little girl dancing with my dad.I still can't believe that he's gone he passed away on my birthday in 1998 and that was the day after Father's Day that year,I will never forget all the love he showed me.My thanks to Mr.Vandross for this song.

@RASHAD7650 Sadly my life is very similar to yours :( I also lost my dad when I was 6 years old on Fathers Day. I've also been very blessed to have my momma with me, she'll be 87 yrs old on March 30th :) I give thanks for her EVERYDAY!!! After all these years that have passed it still feels like yesterday that my Dad went home to be with the Lord. I don't believe in "Good-byes" it's just "So long" because one day we'll be reunited again in heaven :) ~ God Bless ~

My dad passed on November 9th, 4 weeks after he was diagnosed with lung cancer, it was devastating. There was so much I wish I had said to my dad, but never got another chance, so I encourage u my friends to live each day as if it was the last. Never take anything for granted, R.I.P. I usually don't listen to much of this genre of music, mainly harder metal and stuff. That being said, you can't be human and not be touched by this song. I have an 8 month-old son, and there would be no greater honor than for him to remember me like Mr. Vandross remembered his father. Not trying to sound like a tough guy, but I'm a man's man, and this song can make me cry like a baby. Nothing will ever bring out the compassion and love that you have, until you have a child.

My father just 2 months after my 18th birthday. I have greived almost everyday since because he never got to see what his baby-boy did in life. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and now his great-great-grandchildren. Nor my successes or failures. The things in life you'd just like to talk to your pops about! Didn't always see eye-to-eye with him but just having, would have been wonderful. Appreciate your fathers as much as your mothers! You're half of him....

Don't worry your father has seen everything even if he couldn't physically hold his grandchildren or answer you when you speak to him. He is with you, he may even be your gaurdian angel!!! You will see him again and you will know he's watched you your whole life. Your are right for young and old, appreciate both your parents and family. .
