He should have complied with the officers, as much as I don't like saying it. there are instances where officers get overzealous with a simple traffic stop, and then there's this; if you have warrents, or own a firearm as a convicted felon, you are a threat. The first officer showed restraint with his weapon, a commendable effort, if i might add. I remind myself that it started with him cutting off the first officer in two lane traffic, a dumb mistake to be avoided to begin with.

I am sorry that someone got shot. If you look at the video, the officers heard something that put them on edge ("Gunshot I suppose"). There is clearly a gun in the suspect's right hand when he exits the vehicle... My question is: Why does the engaging officer place his weapon on the ground after firing at the suspect? I know the officer's weapon is secured as evidence but why not reload and secure the suspect first?

He should have complied with the officers, as much as I don't like saying it. there are instances where officers get overzealous with a simple traffic stop, and then there's this; if you have warrents, or own a firearm as a convicted felon, you are a threat. The first officer showed restraint with his weapon, a commendable effort, if i might add. I remind myself that it started with him cutting off the first officer in two lane traffic, a dumb mistake to be avoided to begin with.

Garner) covers all of US law enforcement. it basically says that if there is a fleeing felon who presents a risk to the public, you can use deadly force to apprehend the suspect. in my opinion, this video is the prime example, suspect jumps out of the car with a gun after he has been given lawful commands from a officer in full uniform. action is quicker then reaction and he allready is armed and becomes a felon once he eludes police.

it would be unlawful, and unjustified to shoot an unarmed subject who is fleeing....i.e. a person who took a $1,000 laptop from best buy and hasnt shown any type of violent behavior, there is not rosk to the public just a property crime, but if he has a weapon, or has displayed some type of felonious violent behavior, a police officer could shoot him. but its all on a case by case basis, depending on the circumstances.

Garner which is a supreme court ruling in a case that gives the criteria of when an officer can or cannot shoot a fleeing felon it pretty much comes down to if that person is a serious risk to the public and the safety of the officers. look it up for more clarification.

This video shocks me. I'm a Police Officer in Florida and unless the laws of engagement are that much deffiferent CN, the suspect should have been shot as he was reaching for the gun. The Officer obviously observed a weapon because of his reaction, the question is; why he did he not shoot?...I understand its not proper to say what should have been done when you werent there however, I know giving the same situation, I would have taken the shot and there would have been no foot chase.

Most cops are so feared for their job that they are at the point where their hesitaiton could get them killed....thanks god this officers hesitation didnt, but its a sad point the department is at where officers have to hesitate now to even shoot when necessary.

I am sorry that someone got shot. If you look at the video, the officers heard something that put them on edge ("Gunshot I suppose"). There is clearly a gun in the suspect's right hand when he exits the vehicle... My question is: Why does the engaging officer place his weapon on the ground after firing at the suspect? I know the officer's weapon is secured as evidence but why not reload and secure the suspect first?
