  • it's sad but i like indian version more. sorry.

  • Hats ff for putting this together - I can add Churaliya is a rip off from Boujara If its Tuesday it must be Belgium and a Song from Manoranjan - Aya hoon mai tujhko le jaunga is a rip off from Sergio Mendes & Brazill 66 - After Sunrise - but his beauty was his smei classical composition - he introduced me to Latin Jazz (with his plagiarisms) Remember Amar Prem and Padosan as his signatures - LP were good composers but had no ear for melodies.

  • R.D. Burman is a fantastic *arranger*, as well as composer and singer. His songs fill me with such joy because of his pooling together of such a wide array of influences. Given the workload he had, there was no way that he could have composed all of those songs himself, and yet each song has a style that is so distinct—I know an R.D. composition when I hear it! So my answer to your question is: R.D. is a great composer and also a great copycat—meow meow!

  • RD Burman is over hyped by media and his music only appealed to the youth in big citis.....Laxmikant Pyarelal were much better and versatile and their songs always had the Indian touch....and liked by classes and the masses (Karz v/s Sur Sangam) (even though they have copied few songs themselves but they were very few)..RD Burman himself had said in an interview LP were the best musicians in the Hindi Film industry...

  • @999timepass Very True.Luxmikant Pyarelal were really versatile & S.D.Burman was real Composer and their music was based on Indian music not on western music.

  • "R.D.Burman a Copy Cat", I don't agree to this,he may have been inspired by some few western compositions which he has adopted beautifully to suit the Bollywood film song situations.

He has given some original compositions in the 70's and 80's. which are immortal even today and are remembered and revered by today's generation, which speaks volumes of his greatness.

  • The volume of creations or need per annum is the main cause for some quick shots of admixture. All singers and Directors used to watch English films for "inspirations" . Singers were directed to be 'inspired'. We should not forget that part too.

  • if RD was a great composer 'coz he adapted songs and presented them in his own way then all the present day DJs and remix artistes are great composers.

  • I've always known this...Ever since I started listening to non-Indian music, I realized that all so-called 'legendary' bollywood composers ripped off blatantly!

  • RD has adapted or copied many songs from western musics.

  • Thanks to all great musicians for producing beautiful music (you created or copied, doesn't matter). We need good music to feel better and all these songs are awesome!

Everyone should copy beautiful melodies,, so bigger audience can enjoy these melodies.!

By the way, I am not Anu Malik :p

  • RD Burman is still the greatest of composer the world has ever seen. What about his other and better compositions! They were magical and all these are just inspirations!

  • BUT ONE THING Rupamjovirockstar has really taken pains and has done deep study to get this truth out, Great work Rupam.

  • @MeninodeValpoi Thanks sir.

  • Sala harami tha wo.

  • IF ADAPTATION IS RIGHT THING THEN ANU MALIK, PRITAM , NADEEM SHARVAN, ETC ALL ARE GREAT COMPOSERS AS RDB. WHY WESTERN COMPOSERS DO NOT TAKE ANY ADAPTATION FROM BOLLYWOOD?

  • Great work for the maker of this video, hats of to you for searching and coming out with the truth. Yes RD Burman was a copy cat but nevertheless added his bit to the songs he copied. But hats of to you for compiling this video

  • @volcanictruth Thanks, but some people don't want to accept the truth

  • @sanchyc And why don't you debate with MeninodeValpoi on his comment. I did not write anything wrong , I have just asked a simple question by this video. Rest is your knowledge in music ,may be you know much better than me. I may be a composer, musician, you may be a way better than it but with empty youtube channel.

  • @sanchyc Take a glass of cold water, take deep breath , you may use yoga

by Baba Ramdev. You are in state of shock by bitter truth.

  • Comment removed

  • @MeninodeValpoi This is not acceptable from a gentleman like you which I am sure you are. Anybody with a little knowledge of music knows that ALL, I repeat all music directors have lifted from other sources particularly in Bollywood. Some by pressure from the producers, actors even singers - some on their own . Except 3 or 4 tunes R.D, Has just adapted a few bars or lines and then composed and arranged music on his own and the result was better than original. He is a genius - the world says so.

  • @ranju56 The scene from Sholay where Amjad Khan shoots down the family of Sanjeev Kumar is taken from ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST starring Charles Bronson as Harmonica (played by Amitabh) where Henry Fonda guns down the family exactly same scene. These things really makes one mad but anyway let me not create any clashes here and hence I have removed my first comment

  • @ranju56

Well, you said it Meninode. If others were thieves (a unproven charge/lie you're making out of desperation) , then R.D is their greatest indeed, and the (whole) world says so as you put.

  • It is very very easy to point a finger on somebody. but you must remember when you raise a finger on somebody 4 fingers are automatically raised on yourself also. This post may include some of the songs which may be identical to other songs. it is like when god created human beings he also tend to make twins knowingly or unknowingly. and yes RDB ....Pancham Da... THE BOSS is god of music. I would say he was not just a musician but a magician.

  • @anibhat0 Ha Ha Ha.These are not fake songs. So accept this truth that RD copied from these songs.

Before this I was a great fan of RDB but not now. He is an another Bhappi lahri or Pritam for me now.

  • @rupamjovirockstar Dear Rupam. With all love and good wishes for you - cross your heart and say that except a few bars and lines which you have uploaded - the rest is composed by R.D. with great finesse and musical brilliance thrown in making it far better than the original. I have repeatedly said that this is done by all composers all over the world. Copying a full song with no creativity put in is plagiarism and many do it . R.D. HAS NEVER DONE IT - HE IS A RARE GENIUS - THE WORLD SAYS SO

  • @ranju56 I already said that I was a great fan of RDB. Have you listened

" Kabhi khawahishon ne loota" from pakistani movie, complete song

picked in movie alag alag " Khabhi bebasi ne mara".

  • @rupamjovirockstar Rupam, Very well written and I am impressed. There are 3 to 4 such instances with R.D. unlike many many with other very famous composers. Not only I knew this I also know and you can check out that some producers insist that they incorporate a song in their film. Guru Dutt instructed a very young R.D. to use Limelight for his shelved film Raj.Exactly something of that sort may have occurred in these cases as these 3 to 4 songs even does not have his typical style. .......

  • @rupamjovirockstar. To be very honest this debate can go on and on. I am totally against blatant plagiarism and you will be surprised to note that I in 1970 actually fought with Panchamda on this when he quietly and beautifully explained the difference between copying and adapting and adding your own creative recipe to create a new cuisine. If 10% of R.D.B. is from adpated sources the others are far more and much more blatant including S.J.,L.P.S.D.K.A. Rajesh Roshan etc etc. We cannot blame one

  • @rupamjovirockstar. You will be happy to note as a proud Indian that R.D. Burman's craft of music is now being widely researched world over and many bands including Kronos Quartet ( roping in Pt. Zakir Hussain) are playing his numbers in concerts world over. All new music directors openly proclaim R.D. as their inspiration and Guru ( even A.R.R. respects him a lot) and that cannot happen if he was just a copy cat. All know from where he adapted what. Listen to R.D. wiih open mind and rediscover.

  • my GOD ,,,,,,, SAAB AIK SEY HE HEIN ,, :(:(

  • almost all composers of India and many internationally recognise R.D. as a greatest of the great. Yes,he did adapt and used to tell it openly how he adapted and what he made out of the adaption. As the great Louis Banks told in T.V. - he made the adaption far better than the original. Nobody remembers " say you love me" and it was not even a hit song but Mehbooba Mehbooba composed from the same tune in 1975 is not only even today a super hit in India but world wide. That requires a genius RD is

  • etc have copied many numbers much before R.D. came into the scene The number one adaptor was the great Shanker Jaikishen ( Huge list )but he was great in his own way .Plagiarism is when you totally copy a song and photocopy it without adding any creative brilliance in it that is copying for the sake of it which some composers have done. Taking a few bars of tune r music and then using your creativity to make something else ,as I said is done thing. You cannot call all of them copy cats.

  • Has many changes and fine music nuances, use of bottle, totally different and brilliantly conceived rhythm patterns, use of Iranian santoor and a fully different antara etc. This requires more creative genius and gifted musical brain . Even A.R.Rahman ,the genius today has adapted many numbers and they are all listed but it does not make A.R.Rahman any less. 25% of all great composers who regularly had to compose have adapted including the great S.D. Burman,L.P..K.A.,Salil Chowdhury,Hemant Kumar

  • I totally respect your genuine sentiments but I am very close to the creative industry where there definitely the practice of using certain mukhdas, rhythms, chord pieces etc and creating something of your own with your signature touch is a done thing. It started with the start of the music industry and possibly will never end and is true internationally. The examples that you gave were known to everybody in the industry from the first day. But Mehbooba mehbooba adapted from Demis Roussous song..

  • Sir you are much elder than me & more experienced. But there is difference in creative inspiration & copy work. eg 'Chaiyyan Chaiyyan' by A.R. Rahmaan is an inspiration from train sound & it is creative inspiration . But songs in this video are copied RDB, this is not called inspiration. If Kumar Sanu sings Kishore kumar song than it is ' cover version ' of that song, in other words it is a copy but when Kumar Sanu sings his own song in Kishore kumar's STYLE , it is an inspiration

  • The uploader is completely unaware that all forms of creativity stems from inspirations. Kishore was inspired by K.L.Saigal, Kumar Sanu and Abhijit were again inspired by Kishore Kumar. No composer can boast of 100% original compositions all the time. Today many Western groups play R.D. Burman throughout the world including famous Kronos Quartet ( nominated for Grammy ).. Even after 15 years of his death he is still the most remixed, copied and listened to. If he adapted he made it better .

  • R.D. Burman is rated by the worlds top musicologists as one of the greatest inventive versatile composer. The views are shared by amongst Indians - Ravi Shankar,Pt. Ajay Chakraborty,Pt.Shiv Kumar Shrama,Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia,Pt.Ulhas bapat to Louis Banks,Zakir Hussain,Bickram Ghosh,Javed Akhtar,Amjad Ali Khan, Late Jagjit Singh etc etc. In fact all the current composers have openly said that they are fully inspired by R.D. Burman and many have used his tunes in their compositions, remixes.

  • Another complete misinformation . Not only Raina Beeti jai and Tera Bina are R.D.s absolute own composition ,many S.D. Burman songs from Aai Meri topi ( Funtoosh), Sar jo Tera( Pyasa),kora kagaz( Aradhana),Gata rahe Mera Dil ( Guide) etc etc are original compositions of R.D. To photocopy a complete song is blatant plagiarism ( Bappi lahiri etc ) but to get inspired by a few lines or chords and making a full composition needs caliber and as I said the worlds top music composers have done it.

  • This is the greatest problem of our perception. There is no composer including Beethoven,Mozart to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore,S.D. Burman,Salil Chowdhury , Shanker Jaikishen,Laxmikant Pyarelal etc etc who have not have been inspired by various tunes. I can give a list of hundreds but these geniuses changed the inspirational song into their own style ,with various musical spices like chords, beats and made it into a great dish. R,D. Burman never took more than a few lines and made it better,

  • @ranju56 ---- So well written and nice to read. Rupam read and understand ranju56 and learn more before your take a stupid leap

  • @sanchyc Dear I don't have much spare time for you. You are here just to leave comment on video positive or negative , NOT ON ME. If you don't like the video, can not accept the fact , simple don't watch it. I did not send you any invitation for it.

  • but he also made so many sweet tunes in his own..

  • @asoknm But they belong to him till their origin not discovered

  • lol i must say rd made em better..esp mehbooba :P

  • RD Burman was not at all a great composor.People have made a wrong notion by calling him PANCHAMDA etc....he was really ordinary....His father SD was a really versatile..Dear Rupam you have done a good thing by sharing this to the world.....R D SUCKS

  • @thehappiestman Thanks. I think R.D. Burman used unused compositions of his father e.g Raina beeti jaye, Tere bina zindagi se etc. These songs have style of S.D. Burman

  • Look we hav a word in Hindi-Nakal ke liye akal hona zaruri hain.

Same ova here...luk every person get inspires from another one...nd try to put more stuffs in it...or u can say try to develop it...dats wat we say creativity.

May be R D Burman has copied many tunes into his songs...but we love them.wat RD,Ilaiyaraja,Rahman,Harris Jayaraj even pritam composes r original in itself...nd people also lyk to hear des songs.

    So i Think R D was a great composer.

    :)

  • bollywood sucks..........

  • Pathetic!

  • RD was Pritam of 80's. A copycat

  • @MultiMusicalmind --- Nice name ..fits your attitude. Mutli --- Not sure of any direction, Musical ---- Chaotical and Mind -- Oh no, that's not there

  • Nothing new. Inspired version (not Copy) is better than original. Bottom line: Greatest composer ever..

  • @kcdash how can u say Greatest Composer? he dint even compose, these people just say they were "Inspired", even any1 can get "Inspired" and just put hindi lyrics and tabla, but still it wont be original.

  • @kcdash so easy to become the greatest composer ever !!
