To me when I watch todays game, guys like crosby and ovechkin get knocked around a lot, and also fight back get in the middle of the scrums, they wouldnt have done what Gretzky did here and watch as everyone else defends you.

The hit was legal... When I watch this I see Wayne the great getting a clean hit and nothing else. He's probably the greatest credit to the game, no argument. This is hockey and what I like about it is that no-one gets or deserves "special treatment".

have you ever watched crosby play? he is interfered with more than any other player in the league and has to fight for every inch he gets. no, he doesn't go out there and throw big hits but if you took crosby as is and put him in the 90s he would score 40 and get 150 + in the 80s probably 200 (no, i don't like comparing eras like this just playing along). i dont know what this assumption that crosby cant hit or take a hit is but its pretty bullshit if you ask me. i seen him play almost every game in junior there were guys that were easily well over 200 pounds slashing him throwing elbows left and right and hes far from not being able to handle himself. Just to let you know I have not been considered a kid for a long time now (20 Yrs old). I did answer my own question, but no worries. My look at the best has to be a player who was the best all-around player and Orr beats everyone hands down with that. No player could ever play like him or ever will, and also I did not state the Gretzky was the best, just that he was "one of the best." I mean you don't score 92 goals at being just Above Average. He could still play great.
