The jews perpetuate this holocaust rubbish to gain sympathy from the ignorant & promote an agenda of jewish supremacy. Not a single concentration camp resident addressed a complaint with SS officers concerning "alleged" atrocities at the concentration camps. The "death" camps were routinely inspected by the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz & operated within the guidelines enacted at the Wannsee Conference. The jewish swine were provided with food, shelter, clothing, sanitising showers, & medical care!
@pendorran I was NEVER a member of the Nazi party. Zionist swine! My most delightful channel is for historical reference/education. It is not intended to advocate Nazism or aggression towards the jewish swine. View my non-biased video documentaries!
This is the greatest novel about the war , the times of suffering, and love beyond all measures of time , distance, and,of great sacrifice! Hermon Wouk ,sure, did it with precise measurements, that can't be simplified by any other accounts, love it and hate it at the same time , because it did happen this way. I only wish i could of been the one who could of defended the world against such evil! I was born in the wrong time and the wrong country. Tony avalos, born in1958
@tonyt581 I highly recommend you read "The Holocaust Industry", "Did Six Million Really Die?", "Jewish Domination of Weimar Germany: 1919-1932" & "Jewish Supremacy." "War & Remembrance" is pure fiction/fantasy; the segments regarding the jews/holocaust is most laughable. My personal favourite is when the swine are gassed.
@montsyblackmadonna You've openly admitted to believing Fred (the child abuser) Phelps is 100 percent correct, all gays should be killed, Jews (or pretty much anyone who isn't a white) should be put in concentration camps, and Hitler was/is a blessing from God. Troll or no troll, your opinions, like you, are worthless.
@Andy1000K You are a ignorant buffoon.I am a Daughter of God,I am not some mythological creature.I said Fred was 100% correct, pertaining to what he said in one of his sermons.I never said,or meant to imply that everything Fred has ever said,or will say is 100% correct, without even listening & weighing what he has said. And another thing,I never ever said that anyone who isn't white should be put in concentration camps, you are a liar and/or to stupid to understand my postings.
@2010inMotion Apparently Jan Michael Vincent upset the production crew with his on set behaviour during the Winds of War, and the network felt Ali Macgraw was too old for role when the sequal came around.
The only 2 actors I thought were somewhat questionable in the casting were of Ralph Bellamy playing FDR, becasue Bellamy was actually almost a full TWENTY yers older than FDR was. FDR was 57-63 during WW 2 and Bellamy wa in his late-70's. Also thought Berkoff wasn't a good Hitler, especially the way he spoke and would drag out his sentences. The other actors fit their parts well.
@RJY4356 Would agree with your cast comments there, Stephen Berkoff was a very poor Hitler especially in comparison to Bruno Ganz in Downfall. Ralph Bellemy was ok but as you say too old, as sadly was Robert Mitchum, Pug Henry was early 50s in the books Mitchum was early 70s here and looked older, no surprise considering the life he led. Still a good series though and without doubt the best ever theme tune.
This music is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard yet so sad....the miniseries was a masterpiece.....I cried throughout the entire thing and asked the question.............why, why, why????!!!!!!!
There are only two TV themes that can send chills down my spine and actually make me cry.....this masterpiece by Bob Cobert is one of them and the other one is "North and South" (by Bill Conti).
While I thought this series was ok, I was never a huge lover of it. My brother thought I really liked it and gave Winds of War to me for Christmas, and then War and Remembrance as a birthday gift. I have both on DVD. Very expensive gift, never had the heart to tell him that I never really wanted them.
This epic miniseries is an all-star extravaganza, spectacularly produced by Dan Curtis. If you want to feel as if you've personally experienced World War 2 this movie is as close as it gets to the REAL thing. It captures its audience in the 1st 2 minutes of "The Winds of War" and doesn't let go throughout the duration of "War and Remembrance." Herman Wouk was an American Naval Officer in World War 2, so he knew the war 1st-hand and put it in his classic novels. I recommend watching it.
This miniseries isn't perfect. Some parts are miscast. The back story is overly melodramatic and detracts from the historical re-creations. After later films like "Schindler's List", War and Remembrance's treatment of the Holocaust seems simplistic. Nevertheless, this is an important historic work - the first time the Holocaust was depicted in detail on American television. The musical score remains one of the most moving ever written. For these reasons, this series should not be missed
The novels these shows are based on are incredibly powerfull.Herman Wouk has become one of my favorite authors. He also wrote a similar set of books based on the foundation of Israel. None of these characters are in it.
They said the book was just too big to be made into a miniseries, but they did it, and did it amazingly well. The casting was perfect, whereas the casting of "Winds of War" had some flaws. Jane Seymour's performance was masterly, the Auschwitz scenes graphic and harrowing, and the final scene pierces the heart. I need to get this on DVD someday.
I have both the winds of war and War and Remembrance and they are the best mini series to be television and miniseries like Lonesome Dove, and Roots are excellent also. TV has become almost unwatchable the only show that I like that is on TV today is Lost.
I am unsure of your specific region codes, but if you have netflix, I can tell you that the series is out there. I just finished watching it from the winds of war to war and remembrance. I think the US may be reg 1, but alas I am not fully sure. Hope this helps!
Is War And Remembrance and The Winds of War the same thing??? I know one is from 82-83 and the other one from 88 -something ... but the cast is almost the same and the story and everything .. remake maybe?? anyone??
Winds of war is the preceeding TV show to war and remembrance. In Winds of War they told how WWII started, and the show goes to the middle of 1941, while War and Remembrance goes
from the middle of 1941 to the end of Hitler in 1945.
Wow. Had completely forgot what this music sounded like but remember it had a big impact on me as a little kid. Thanks for rekindling something I probably never would have been to remember otherwise.
A jazzy version of this classic theme was used in the opening of last night's Family Guy. It was an episode where they time travel to the past to save a Jewish friend from Nazis. I think I'm the only 20 year old who knew what the music was a take off of! Ha Ha
I agree with everyone, as this was a great, great series. I was a kid when my father watched it and all I remembered was this epic and powerful ballad. Many years later, I wanted to find the movie to watch, and thanks to wonderful people like yourself who had a fondness for this series, all I had to do was hum a few bars and voila, got the title. That is how you know a movie is a bonafide classic piece of work. Thank you, Raymond, for giving this ballad a new outlet to new generations to enjoy.
Books and films such as "War & Remembrance" are monuments and memorials to those that lived and those that did not survive this second major world conflict. If anything books, music, paintings and films as well as other art forms seek to teach the living the harsh lessons of how old hatreds, prejudices, and ignorance often turns the world into a slaghterhouse, and that if we the living are wise, we will choose to co exist peacefully, or we shall all perish, violently.
WAW is definately the best WW2 doc ever made, or will ever be made. And definately one of the top 5 documentaries ever. I think it's the best but others can be argued equally. Ken Burns' Civil War also comes to mind.
There are only two ways this show could have been better. If it had been filmed in widescreen (They did such a good job in production design it screams for it), and if Ali McGraw and Jan Vincent had stayed. This show introduced me to Ian McShane long before he did "Deadwood" and 4 films a year
