PS Take noteMetallica , Pearl Jam , U2 , Pink , Foo Fighters , Elton John . Kiss , Meatloaf , Yusuf Islam , and Alannis Morrisette all have issued live tracks recorded in Australia. I know there are many more but maybe check the facts first. Others have turned up on stage for cameo appearances - Dylan , Knopfler , Harrison so maybe check the whole story . Thanks for posting Does anyone have melb or Skyhoks at Sunbury > Cheers
Saw Melb show - awesome. To the knockers Australia is renowned for participation - and many big acts break here first. Abba , Madonna . Gaga , Pink , Beatles ahem!! Melb rocked and I am sure the crowd were asked to stay still for filming. I took 2 snapshots in gig and lost 8 flashbulbs. Legendary Oz Rocker Shirley Strachan said at Live Aid "HOO !! Weren't they hot?? " Sunbury incdent - timing muck uip . Queen were brilliant . Best vocallist Ive ever seeen .
OK all you dopes with one eye, I was at this concert and we were asked before this song to stay seated & no shouting because it was to be televised on the Mike Walsh Show, so we had respect and let Freddie entertain. Note that the clapping at the end was direct from the live studio audience on the television show. I know this because I have the VHS recording. It was a full on concert and we paid big money to go, so we must have loved Freddie. Long live the QUEEN. Maureen - Australia.
i can´t believe!! what happened with that people??so cold!oh man! maybe don´t have any heart, ok, now I undestand why are these people so quiet, I am from Argentina. God save the Queen!
I can't believe what I'm seeing. the whole time I was like, 'Australia... What the fuck?' c'mon aussies... It's fucking Mercury. Even if you don't like Queen the mans voice is magic<3 I just couldn't believe I was seeing such a weak crowd. I'm still going 'eh... Throw me in there. I'd be the loudest.' I would kill to have seen them live.

lol, re: comments about the Aus crowd, I was at this concert. This was before the iconic performance at Live AID; being one of the early performances of Radio GaGa so the crowds hadn't yet been trained to do "the clap". Though you can see some people do. And they are all standing in a seated area; makes it hard to "go wild" when you are worried about trippping over a chair! So enough of the stupid ill-informed comments ;-) Aussie crowds are known to rock as good as any others.
Oh and as someone says below the audience applause at the end wasn't from the 10,000-20,000 strong crowd but from the TV studio crowd as this track was broadcast live on air in the middle of a live TV variety-styled talk show. If you had the "Queen Magic Years" video set you'd know that. ;-)
Just because you can't see any of my fellow aussies having a good time does not mean they werent. We know how to rock on like anyone else. The venue does not lend itself to over exuberence as its a steeply seated venue, the only one around of its size in 1985. We didnt have the fancy big indoor arenas back then. You all can kiss the fat bottomed girlLOL
hehehehehe i like this video although is not the performance on wembley, has it own thing, execuse if someone disagrees with my opinion, but the osaka concert is not different, not even Rio, the problem, to me, it was the sound, too much synths, not even tie your mother down was not hard enough, one can hear a keyboard at the background, the drums didnt sound heavy, not like HotSpace tour or the game tour, or wembley, well lucky for us, queen learned what was wrong and fixed :)
it was well known that queen hated australia after the so called reception they got there in the early days and accusations that the sound and lighting was rigged to break down.
@Mr28PIE Ti sbagli, il Magic Tour partì nell'estate dell'anno dopo, mentre qui siamo ad aprile del 1985 con il tour The Works.......quanto vorrei essere anch'io tra quel pubblico.......
I went to two consecutive concerts in Sydney in April 1985, so chances are this was one of them, and no way was the audience that quiet at either of them.
I agree with Lambie & denwel1, the audience went crazy. What's the audio equivalent to being 'photoshopped'?
fucking audience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was awful no one was claping in the part of radio gaga, radio gogo and i don´t know why. Because Freedie is the best singer ever.
@Beatles1051 becouse that was the worst period in Queen's history. The weak songs like radio caca and some shitty gaudy stage costumes. I guess, all these things left the audience disappointed. Still the great voices and the sound.
@jerryru Radio GA GA - weak song? Oops! may be for you. Have you seen the greatest ever live gig @ LiveAid 1985 where all the audiences clapping in unison for Radio Ga Ga? You still say it a weak song?

@The90Game - ALL YOU DEAR FOLKS whining about the "quiet" OZ audience look up "queen live in sydney 4-26-1985 part 3" eg. there is a whole minute (near the start after L.O.M.L.) of Freddy dancing to around 10,000 people clapping ... We were asked to be quiet for Radio Ga Ga for the live-to-TV broadcast of that one song ... One of the highlights of my life to have been there.
In my opinion-and it is just my opinion, with the exception of the Live Aid concert, Queen got realy old hat and jaded in 85 onwards. Just because things were done on a bigger scale doesn't mean that it was good. Gluttons For Punishment and Hot Space tours of 80/82 were there best period.
I don't quite know what you're getting at. In terms of live shows, the '86 Magic Tour was phenomenal and well reviewed. In terms of musical quality, at the turn of the 80's the band definitely lost their spark, but each album had its moments.
This was the first concert I ever got to see, my mum was an avid queen fan and took me to see this very show when I was 6 years old. I still have the ticket stubs
I too was at one of the Sydney Concerts - I can tell you that bloody pathetic applause was definitely not from the concert footage!!! We all went mad! Sirgh has the correct explanation. BTW, its New Zealanders who have the sheep .....
Here's the explanation about the applause at the end... this footage is taken from TV, and the applause you're hearing is a studio audience watching the footage along with the host Mike Walsh.
I was at one of these Sydney concerts (may have been this one, not sure) and was right besides the stage. IIRC Freddie was complaining all night about the mixer getting the levels wrong.
There probably was a lot a clapping (there was at the concert I was at) but it doesn't come accross in this video.
it is a shame, what a fantastic live rendition of this song and the audience is so UN-moved??? still i love this performance, Freddie is the greatest frontman EVER.
@SergiuliKa25 Actually, some people in the first few rows were clapping their hands.
