That performance is from the 1996 Easter concert (Combined Saigon and Phantom at the Capitol in Sydney) with Tim Beveridge (understudy Phantom) and me (Jonathan Densem - understudy Chris) singing about the joys of working in the chorus line...in a mask...up the back...in the dark :-0

This version of the Rhapsody parody started life when I was in Miss Saigon (Sydney 1996) and the brilliant young singer, Dexter Villeramosa started singing it with me playing piano in the rehearsal room one day. I can't sing as high as Dex and Peter Murphy (and Freddie!) but I discovered i could do a cool harmony underneath. This was expanded to a five part version for the Miss Saigon end of year party in which I mixed lyrics from the show in with "witty' comments.

Some lyrics you might have missed...at the end "Oh, yeah, caaan you...hear all the French people sing? Who am I?"

Our Fantine was originally famous as the blonde schoolgirl in a sit com called "Hey, Dad"

"I've been to W.A.A.P.A" refers the drama school in Australia which produces loads of actors who think they deserve everything.

"It's Crap-Said-He"..is a reference to the legendary revue in the Sydney Morning Herald which said, and I quote "The music sucks."

Thanks for the wonderful comments...just found this myself! I wrote this (lyrics and vocal arrangement) and am conducting this performance. Performers (left to right) are Martin (OMG his last name slips my mind!)...Karlis Zaid..also air guitar, has since trained at VCA as a real actor! David Campbell...(our Marius - original J. He played Marius (and was briefly an item with our Eponine, Natalie Jackson Mendoza who's since gone to the UK and was in the 'Lord of the Rings' musical, I think). Our other Marius was David Dixon. I can dig out my program and put up the names of the others, if anyone wants me to.
