This is amazing. But what will it be used for--mostly simplistic movies about good beating evil, or making video games look more realistic at the expense of interactivity, or what
This video was generated by Rhythm and Hues studios to illustrate the usage of their fluid simulation software, and shown at the 2008 Symposium on Computer Animation in Dublin. tomass1500 had absolutely nothing to do with the software or the generation of the video, with the exception that he or someone else attached music to it (the original did not have sound). The software is still in heavy use in film effects production, and does not use CUDA or NVidia products.
This was not done at nvidia, but at Rhythm and Hues Studios in Los Angeles. The video is a companion to a paper that appeared at the ACM SIGGRAPH / Eurographics Symposium on Computer Animation in 2008.
wtf why is everyone got a stick up their rear about this video using a song that has copyright protection on it? For christ sake every retard and his mother has been producing shitty windows movie maker videos synced to linkin park since the dawn of time and you're complaining about THIS? A song that mildly fits the video that has generally interesting information. I can't even begin to enumerate the number of videos you SHOULD be complaining about. This video is not one of them.
Well,This song is the theme for a different game that is the most epic physics sim to date and will be..... and this song is made by emil(maker of phun)
The most epic physics sim to date as far as I'm aware was the simulation of the andromeda milky way galaxy collision. That was an epic simulation. Phuns music is just another song with an unfathomable copyright on it, interchangeable like a tire. I highly doubt they even care. They probably like the association. If people wanna be the lapdogs of copyright law go help the music industry, I'm sure they would love a few lapdogs acting altruistic for them.
graphics and physics are the most important things in computer-games and computer-games are the future

watching this kind of things sometimes flashes me back some 20 years ago, when "graphics" was just a bunch of pixels on the screen... awesome.

@Bananadine why would particle effects be limited to "simplistic movies about good beating evil".

@majsbullen Well, granted, sometimes it's horror movies and the evil wins

change the song!!!
the song is copyright by Emil Ernerfield, and may only be used in combination with a phun video (yes, that's what it says)
like SirMustang66 said, do it before its too big to handle...
anyway, for the vid itself: good job...
but plz change the music...
bronie12345 2 years ago
@bronie12345 why do you all make such a big deal about the music??

Well, I must say this is very surprising. The music is obviously copyrighted and using it will only miscredit you.
