The transition from one song to the next is one of the joys of listening to music from the "album-era" vs. the current era where the emphasis in on "singles". If you only listen to you tube or download--consider recording a whole CD/Album of Stevie Wonder's or others from the R&B heyday---a pleasure.
what is it Wonder is doing when he modulates through those chord progressions? Diatonic scales, suspended 9ths, multiple modalities? Somebody with a jazz education please describe SW's compositions, for pop music they're completely revolutionary, a totally new sound - back in the day when Black was Beautiful, Wonder was the court composer -
I am just discovering this albuM. I'm familiar with a lot of stevie music but this is my first foray into this album and I'm stunned. I find it, like the albums I am more familiar with of his, completely stunning. I spent so many years in academia that I have forgotten to enjoy music... what a big mistake. I'm catching up to life now it seems... Good God this man has me on fire... superholyfreakfunk
@BLUEGRASSJAMMIN HEY BROTHER, WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? your site seems to indicate you have a desire for forgiveness and reconciliation and you have obviously a gift for something other than that. Think a little... was it worth it for you? I'm sorry if what I wrote somehow offended your sensibilities... however, TOUGH.
@SuddenSparkles music is the life of happyness if u recall the angles in heaven job was 2 sing 2 the lord so listen to the good music 2 confort the soul
@PollyHarrison You're partly correct, you can also be a citizen of Commonwealth country as well. In the Caribbean we have knighted individuals and we're certainly not British.
sheer brilliance- Mr Stevie Wonder is a genius and has set himself upon another level of 'musical artist' no other comparison is out there and i doubt will ever be. His songs have a story to tell, every one of his tracks are different and take you to a different dimension. He rocks!!It's happy music and has the knack of influencing you in a positive way- just how it should be.Love you stevie!!
you need to hear the remix DJ Spinna does of Stevie's music. All those Detroit cats are killing the industry! Deep House...and Stevie sings on the track...look it up on YouTube. I think it was done in '04 or '06...can't remember
i know what you mean!!! i had one girl tell me to sit down like 4 times, and of course she stopped asking... i've seen him three times, and stood the whole time for all three... he is the GREATEST ARTIST TO EVERT LIVE...
Just saw him tonight at The Hollywood Bowl. What an amazing show - and he opened with this outstanding song. It was such an inspirational show. He played for 2 hours strong! His band was great with little Ricky Minor (American Idol) as his band's conductor. If Stevie comes to your town - don't miss it!
So great! Thank you Stevie for such great music and inspiration!
This THE shit. Funky and listen to the lyrics. The hamonica playing is well...this is talent that other is marketing and having no other alternative. Stevie will be here in Oak Cali July 5th and 8th I am good friends with his cousins and I usually get free tix!! It will be Hotter than July in July...
gnsky77 - How was the concert? I have ALWAYS been a Stevie fan, but I've never seen him in concert & I would love to. Good friends with the fam eh? LOL :) Take care
I had to work and could not go, but the next time he is in Vegas I am going. My friends/his cousins live in Vegas and last time he came there I went. His brother Milton left me tickets at the Mandalay Bay-it was cool Prince showed up by surprise!!-you should go to see him I have seen him about 5 times once when he was about 13!! in Detroit when I was a kid-he is great in concert!
I went to that concert. My wife flew us from arkansas to see him for my birthday present. It was a complete surprise. I've been a Stevie Fan all of my life. Best present I ever had.
i love the beat so much it makes you wanna get down with stevie go as you read my mind as you touch my soul as you know exactley where to go that's deep go stevie
how old are you buddy? this song never played mainstream when this album came out, but hardcore like myself was grooving to this and now 28 years later this song can stand up to any neyo, justin, omarion do i need to say more, issac!
Get the album--that sudden transition from the last song into this song is priceless.
