It was actually the RENEWAL version of EVANGELION: DEATH. Manga Entertainment haven't released the RENEWAL version of EVA movies until now. The Platinum Edition DVD (Director's Cut) are actually the TV Series.

It's called the S2 engine and Eva normally doesn't have it (which is the reason they don't run without a constant powersupply). They tried implanting one into Unit-04, but that made it open Dirac's sea, killing everyone in a 63K radius. However, the Mass Produced Eva DOES have the S2 engine which is why Asuka got owned by them in the end.

But just because I'm annoying... I am a hardcore EVA fan, and the truth is, I really, REALLY like the dub. It's just unbelievably good. I think anyone who does not actually speak Japanese themselves should see the dub first before seeing the Japanese language version. And before you ask, yes, I HAVE seen both versions.

Good question. I think its because at this point in the series they kind of gave up on that stuff. Plus, the more the series went on, the more they tried to get it into the audience's head that the angels were very much like humans.
