Michael can't be compared to any basketball player, he has one record that no one have, Michael Jordan has won all his nba finals against 5 different teams, he demolished the lakers, blazers and the suns. Who had Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler and Charles Barkley. Then he went on to win the Sonics and the Jazz twice. I agree, if you saw him every night in his prime, you'd see what the highlights cannot show, his shot selection, economy of movement, his abaility to play within the system, his balance, grace, control and desire. Offensively, he usually would get the ball, live dribble, inside of 18 feet and was equiped to exploit any defensive weak point, no matter how small or fleeting. He brought that same style and focus to his defense. Good shots, few turnovers, great defense, that's winning basketball.

Kobe is just as good of a defender as he was. Now in the zone defensive era Kobe sees about 3-4 players every trip which in my eyes makes it harder. This is why I think Kobe is a better scorer and a better shooter. take nothing away from JOrdan but its very hard to say whose the best.

His skillset was extremely high, defense and offensive three's. He just had a bad ass game. I respect him b/c he played that support role for the MJ and Bulls even though he was so talented...the bulls and even MJ wouldn't be the bulls nor MJ without Scottie Pippen, and that's the truth...I have a lot of respect for Pip's game.

(cont) MJ made his team better over the years, help direct the maturity and skill level of his teammates. the bulls back then were such a well tuned and well defined (in roles) type of team. MJ lead it on the court b/c he was that type of person...not only was his skillset unmatched, he was a leader who helped his team develop and take responsibility on the floor...he was by far the champion among champions in sports.

Jordan scored 50 points in 2002, while players like McGrady, Carter, Bryant, Iverson, and Garnett were in their athletic primes. The league is not more athletic, it is more muscular. That is it. The players are far slower and dumber than in the late 80's-early 90's, which is the pinnacle of basketball. The game is far less physical.

B4 the rules changed, ONLY 4 guys avg'd at least 24ppg, with 3 being wing players (kobe, peja & T-mac). 1 yr after the rules changed, the Top 10 scorers had a 23% INCREASE in ppg & a 4% increase in FG% & 7 of the Top 10 scorers BECAME wing players!
In '06, 10 of the 12 Top Scorers were wing players. In '07, only 1 of the Top 11 scorers was a post player (Dirk)!

Contrast that to the 90's, The MAJORITY of the Top scorers in the NBA was CONSISTENTLY "balanced" with big men & VERY FEW wing players! 90's defense was the BEST at containing wing players. Why do you think the '04 Pistons defense fell off so quickly?

I agree, if you saw him every night in his prime, you'd see what the highlights cannot show, his shot selection, economy of movement, his abaility to play within the system, his balance, grace, control and desire. Offensively, he usually would get the ball, live dribble, inside of 18 feet and was equiped to exploit any defensive weak point, no matter how small or fleeting. He brought that same style and focus to his defense. Good shots, few turnovers, great defense, that's winning basketball.
