they need to come to Vancouver Island because are islands were once one wich makes me think what was it like around the west coast of Canada and east coast of Asia when we were attached and not a giant ocean in between us i wish we were closer its to expensive to go there and learn about them
i went to their live on December 23 and it was awesome! but i hope i get to see them at the Budoukan one day too :'3 and oh how i would love to hear this song at a live!
^^ indeed <3 And on me it works like this : " OOH FUCK YOU TOSHIIIII ! I I freakin' HATE You for making my imagination going outta control everytime I see You on the stage ! I can always deny it but can't actually help it so...DAMN YOU ! You devilishly seductive bastard !!! " ^_~ xD lol
Kyo + New death growls equals awesomeness. He's progressed so much with them since 2008 when He started using them more frequently. I remember Hydra -666- in Orlando, Fl. It was, to say the least, awesome. I was skeptical, but I now fully enjoy them. Especially on this song. It's perfect.
@THEREALMOSH2 oh wel lemme clearify wat im thinkin is this is some of the rawest most passionate music around its pretty underground actually i dnt think dir en grey wuld b in on that stuff cuz they make honest music
He is growling way too much lately for my liking. Songs like this one were effective because of their bloodcurdling shrieks originally, but now he performs it like almost every other generic death metal/deathcore vocalist. Sure, deep growls are easier to do properly, but I hope this slight overabundance doesn't bleed onto the next album.
@ska2808 I see what you're saying, but really his screams are better than ever. Why he isn't shrieking more on this song...well...he does what he feels like live lol. Marrow of a Bone was arguably one of their weaker albums on the "generic-unique" scale so I'm sure the new album won't disappoint
@xravenx24fe Sometime around the recording of Uroboros, he started using a different technique for growling (which allows you to do it for a long time without getting out of breath/hurting your vocal chords), whereas before he would only do one growl every so often.
My problem with it is that it's turning a lot of songs into pretty generic-sounding death metal. Look at the -ZAN- remake, for example. That could have been done by Whitechapel!
@espdkv420 They haven't sounded J-rock/VK since about 2003 though (actually even earlier). Uroboros was a fantastic album, but it did overuse growling a little bit in some songs.
What concerns me the most is that he's performing songs which originally don't have growling ... with growling! Like this one (ASOM) for instance. The studio version is so much better because he literally sounds like he's screaming out of pure anguish and rage. Here, it's too technical and "orchestrated".
@ska2808 whats sounding "j-rock/vk" "j-rock" stands for Japanese Rock with means any band from japan can be any form of rock music including metal. visual kei isnt a genre its visual style a band can be black metal and dress visually it doesnt have music characteristics.
@ska2808 "generic-sounding" death metal is much different instrumentaly though. and kyo's growls are quite unique actually, they don't sound generic. but they're clearly going in a different direction now. but no matter what they're doing to the old songs live they are musicaly getting much better than they used to be.
if he could actually pull off his original vocals for this song it would be sooooo much better. like this track really stood out of MOAB for the shreiking not gurgling lol
@Flauschi13 Actually has an amazing and unique growling range. I havent heard anyone with heavier growls than his or such high pitched screams. Im sorry but you're wrong.
@LordRumpusaurus Chris Barnes (Six feet under), George Fisher (Cannibal Corpse), Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy), Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth), Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm), Piotr Wiwczarek (Vader), Frank Harthoorn (Gorefest), Randy Bythe (Lamb of god), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), Tomas Lindberg (At the gates), Peter Dolving (the haunted), ....
As I said, I love Kyo's vocals. His clean singing and screaming are awesome. Only is growls suck.
@Flauschi13 Okay, I just kinda wanted to make sure you knew what you were talking about, since many people don't :P That said, Chris Barns is a shit vocalist, and Randy's okay. I don't really like the singer of The Haunted either.
I still think Kyo's growls are pretty good, just different. I'm also going to go ahead and recommend Septic Flesh, because their vocalist has an insane growl.
@Flauschi13 all these guys r good vocalist but u havnt seen them live in person i saw them in september his voice is soo loud its deifnatly more powerful then all these vocalist n ive seen CC opeth n lamb of god live theyre good but not as power not by a long shot
Kyo`s growling makes the live version so much better than the studio version, and Die`s shouting is better than ever. and the best of it all, Toshiya, what the fuck were you doing at 01:05?!! i don`t care, just do it more!
@MultiFirebrand While I do like Dir en Grey and this song, I hope you do realize that rape is NOT a laughing matter. My friend didn't think it was funny when his brother raped him, and my mother didn't think that it was funny when a male relative came into her bedroom and assaulted her. Seriously, people shouldn't make jokes about being raped.
@74541j0 Yes, he did. That was not a typo. My friend Chris was 12 when it happened, and his brother was 18. P.S. I have a new username. It's no longer mistressvader88, so forgive me for the confusion.
@mistressvader88 Agreed. Fantastic band and great song. Rape is most definitely not a laughing matter. Nobody will throw away a cheap laugh for something they havn't experienced or "isn't their problem". It's just that people will never understand until it happens to them or someone they love. I wish that I could say it was "undeniably sad" but that's just the problem, isn't it?
