  • Smoking a joint and listen this music...

  • Rip Malcolm McLaren

  • It sticks in my head, surfacing unbidden at the nicest times.

  • Another McLaren gem - and a cafe del mar classic - back when the cafe was on it's own on that bit of beach.

  • Sounds Great!!! Peace n' Respect to all

  • RIP Malcolm Mclaren. Your contribution to music live on!

  • THIS is the opening track i've always used for an all instrumentals mix tape (and CD) i call "what radio?"

it's a perfect song to "get the party started" and is just so smooth and beautiful. it's too bad malcom mc laren got the credit as most of the real work was done by "the art of noise"

  • beowulven, I totally agree with your words...I was born in '68, and I am a "musicaholic" too, we practically listened this sounds in the same time back in the 80's. For me this album from Malcom Mclaren was a great discover and a "fresh air" in musical terms at the time, and still is, I still have the vinyl record and recently I bought the CD version...but when we listen it on vinyl it's another story...lol

Thanks to join this great tune to these beautiful pictures...have a great 2010

  • I've been a fan of music all my life (born 1967). This track may mean as much or more to me as any ever. Thanks Anne Dudley, Trevor Horn, MM. This is the sound of my life.

  • Ah contraire mon cher. I'm talkin' to you srotagadirolf. An LA based World-Beat band I fronted called The Bonedaddys were already doin' it when this fantastic album came out in '74. Great chune! Great album! Great artist!

  • Wow! I can't believe no one commented on this cut. The album this song came from predated the world music scene by a decade. Alot of people forgot about this cut...

  • Totally agree, well hey, its our secret for the few 'in the know' who love and cherish these sounds :-)

  • So true.

  • anyone who wants to hear the mystery "Rocket in the Pocket" tune that's cut up in between songs on "Duck Rock", i'm uploading it to YouTube right now

    it's

Rocket in the Pocket II by Ultimate Beats & Breaks

finding out what it is bothered me for DECADES. i always thought it was the imaginary "Disco Kryptonite" song mentioned by Newcleus in "Jam On It"

please do check out my rare groove channel. it covers material similar to much of Duck Rock & a couple Malcom McLaren rarities as well

  • @srotagadirolf Seriously. Folks loved this track back in '83, especially when it sets up "Buffalo Gals!"

This is one of my favorite cool out songs.

  • "duck rock" was so influential to me that i custom painted a Lasonic boombox i had the same pink as the record cover with muticolor trim and added wild style "hip" on the left speaker and "hop" on the right.

was just checking to make sure this is already posted as i'm adding rare grooves to youtube including some MM

    suppresto (AoN)

    aladdin's scratch (DJ aladdin)

    &

    un coche de agua negra

pop by and comment on those even RARER grooves or find other new UPBEAT rarities

  • @srotagadirolf This is one of the tracks that the Cuban percussionist played on. On the liner notes on the album he credits the success of the LP to the Cubans who made it happen!
