  • JPJ's sound bass is just horrible, metallic sound :(.

  • Best band ever.

  • Actually, 77 had some of their best and worst shows... and it is fair to say that after 77, they lost being "classic" LZ, giving up much mystical, heavy music, relying on JPG's keyboards and Plant singing in the background, his voice nothing like it was before, Bonzo drinking, JP even at his best doesn't play like he used to, ... as much as the good performances of 79 and 80 out of the bad ones, the last time it was brilliant, true, "classic" LZ (the one that most comes to mind) was in 77...

  • Lord...........Have Mercy!!!

  • Heavy as fuck. Jones metallic thud of the bass. Bonham beating the shit out of the drums. Page with his cosmic roller coaster ride into the cosmos guitar solo. Nothing like it. There's music, then there's Zeppelin. Not even fair to compare any band with Zeppelin.

  • Jimmy-You will always be THE MAN!!!

  • Here a little history lesson kids. This Album was directed to Eddie Kramer(Google it), and not Eddie Van Halen. Although I'm sure Eddie Van Halen has listen to this, and when his head hit the pillow that night, he mouthed 'I'm not worthy',

  • FFS how good are Bonham and Page here! This is the ultimate.

  • The Solo of theis song at Seattle is particularly awesome I feel...I am just listening to this now for teh first time and it seems pretty good too....but he was also using better effects I feel than 75 or 73 here ....

  • wonderful...but is there a video of this concert?

  • How does Page play like that? The fucking solo is unique and bad ass. Sometimes I surprise myself when I improvise but Page is way beyond me! In my opinion, I love a lot of guitar players. For example, Hendrix! Page is my favorite though.

  • Nothing sloppy about this performance! Page is awesome here!

  • I can barely remember this show

  • I was at this concert 12 rows back right center was JUST AMAZING best concert of my life

  • Listen to nobody's fault but mine from this concert then say he's not on the top of his gane

  • こんな曲だっけww

    ジョンボーナムとペイジがすき放題暴れてる!

    なんだかカッコいい感じになっちゃってるし↑

  • amazing

  • Do you think you could upload the rest of this show? That would be really cool if you did!

    Thanks man!

  • '77 he was not on top of his game

  • Pagey sloppy? Naw. tight but loose is how I once read it described...the man has soul..one of the great icons of all time.

  • Page's solo was JUICY here.

  • Invisible airwaves

    Crackle with life

    Bright antennae bristle

    With the energy

    Emotional feedback

    On a timeless wavelength

  • Yeah, that definitely sums up Jimmy Page.

  • I think what Milliard meant was a "self" nod to his outstanding quality "Live" audience recording he captured of an "Excellent" LZ show. Hence..."Listen to this Eddie!"

  • I really don't think the phrase was directed at Van Halen as their first album hadn't come out yet and no one knew Van Halen. The show from 6/23 has a better solo than this, for whatever reason Page always played better in LA and NY as you can listen to the same tour at different cities and get different results. Plus Page was totally hooked on Heroin at this time. He's great, he's my favorite, you just don't know which Page may show up at the show.

  • Yes Page was hooked on Heroin that we all know, the whole band had a rough year in 77, They were tired and sick and as a result some shows were horrible and sloppy but they forged ahead. It is my theory What didn't kill them made them stronger, hence there powerful 79 - 80 performances.

  • @skyemozart

While recorded in 77, it wasn't released until the early 80 (by way of a thief who had taken the tapes from Page's home). Hence, when it appeared in record stores as a bootleg, it was called "Listen to This, Eddie" in response to a recent claim by Van Halen that Jimmy Page was "sloppy".

  • @cfb30 no it is a reference to Eddie Kramer the sound man

  • @Cincinnatus1869 Totaly right bro !

  • @Cincinnatus1869

    Wrong.

  • @cfb30 Believe what you want then . I just thought i'd save you the future embarassment of being wrong in a Zeppelin bootleg discussion . Carry on

  • @Cincinnatus1869 thanks

  • how would mike milliard have known that when he named the boot?

  • There is no such thing as an "official reason" regarding any bootleg unless you get the quote directly from the distributer and or recorder of the show. All the Zep books and magazines I have read I have never seen a definitive reason for the name LTTE. But it makes more sense that it is directed at VH than EK given the fact that EK worked with LZ throughout their career. Including work on the live (sort of) TSRTS. I have never seen a quote from EK describing Page as sloppy but have from VH.

  • Jimmy Page's "sloppy" playing has more expression and tasty licks than any speed shredded thousand note a minute song. Who wants to hear that? A few notes and well placed chords, and a couple tasty bends with some tone and vibrato in the right time & places is Jimmy Page. Like a good movie with suspense, action, and a good story, with a decent ending, compared to a computer animated special effect film with explosions, fireworks, and overkill that leaves an empty taste in your brain.

  • You brought up a good point. A lot of guitar players are like "Watch this!" Then they play a style that is so typical. The same ol' sounding fast tapping and whammy bar shit. We've all heard that before! People like Page had their own style.

  • @ledfingers1 so true. what you speak of is soul. none of which is around in todays manufactured music

  • @ledfingers1 well said

  • @ledfingers1 I agree 100% or more! Those guys you hear who just shred in music stores or whatever sound boring to me. They all sound a like and they sound either rehearsed or stuck in some kind of a comfort zone. I'd rather be unique than "perfect" or super technical. Page has artistic vision that a lot of guitar players lack. That's why is one of the most influential guitar players ever.

  • @ledfingers1 well put

  • @ledfingers1 - Brilliant.

  • Wow you couldnt be more wrong. Eddie Kramer was a very big fan of Jimmy Page, listen to this Eddie is directed at Eddward Van Halen who said Page was sloppy live. Kramer worked on LZ II and Phy. Graf. and considered Page "a masterful guitar player."

  • AWESOME!!! Nothing tops how the west was won though! Plant just isn't as good here, but the solo is arguably her! Are u sure about Eddie not working on some albums because he Jimmy played to sloppy live? I thought Jimmy purposely had different technicians so everyone would know it wasn't the engineer creating Zeppelins sound. It was the musicians themselves.

  • WHO´S EDDIE?

  • eddie is from van halen one of the greatest guitarist

    but jimmy is my favourite

  • it's not eddie van halen, read the comments

  • yeah i know i found out later on ops my bad

  • the mission version is so much better

  • i agree with you 100% about he didnt tap on heartbreaker only time i seen jimmy tap on video live of course was in the part when robert plant sings if your going to san fransico from TSRTS in part 2 of dazed and confused from msg in ny but jimmy did it a few times on bootlegs that i saw and i never said jimmy invented tapping all i said was eddie said he learned it by watching jimmy page

  • eddie van halen said it himself he got the idea from jimmy page being at a live concert in la and saw page tap sp eddie said wow i can do that trying to top the best guitarist of all time jimmy page which no one can knock b/c all guitarists have there own sound and technique

  • Better sound quality:

    watch?v=dfypW_MTub8&fmt=18

(Notice the "&fmt=18" at the end of the URL.)

  • haha yeah your correct. i understand tapping is a rather ancient technique (preceding rock by at least a couple hundred years), but i was just trying to correct ZiSt1989, as he seemed to think OTHAFA is van halen inspired. but yea, they are both good guitarists, no question bout that.

  • the title is called listen to this eddie.are they challenging eddie van hallen or something.

  • i think it has something to do with a special picking system invented by eddie van halen, that is used in OTHAFA by jimmy page as well ;)

  • i think your confused...OTHAFA came before eddie van halen invented his famous techniques. the intro to OTHAFA comes from an anonymous irish folk song called "she moves through the fair" (which is also where he got "white summer" from). the "eddie" in the bootleg title is in reference to eddie kramer...and eddie van halen himself credits page as inspiring him to play, especially the tapping in "heartbreaker".

  • Cool performance! Awesome! Holy fuck! I love the solo as well. And Bonham during the solo is awesome! "Listen to this, Eddie! You only wish you were half as good as Page, asshole!"

    Rock on!

  • Well, your account is suspended. So what's the point?

  • LOl. Thats funny...
