I'd say so. Rails of Sheffield have really impressed me. Whenever they send a package it comes with a thank you note and padded in shredded paper and bubble wrap. Hattons wraps a bit of card board around it and calls it a parcel. And don't get me started on their customer service, you feel like you could make faster headway at a government office :)
@dmncau if you live oversea's its the only place to shop really because of their reasonable postage charges nut if you are in the UK try and patronise your local hobby shop I'm sure they will give you a good deal
@hollpoll thank you hollpoll. Its very hard to find anything much in Canada, I did find a wonderful 75000 series standard 4MT its on my youtube channel
These locos are superb, and yes one is not enough so I bought three!! I''ve explored the old S&D track bed at various points and can just imagine one of these locos bursting out of the Combe Down tunnel in full steam!!
I agree with the comments above about Rails - it is run by train enthusiasts and yes they do pack things very well. When I tried to order a 4-CEP from Hattons I was told "we do not sell forceps here"!!
Glad to here things there are on the mend !! have just been reading the review for the 7F what a superb pristine loco it looks on your layout in action , must ring Hattons tommorow. Regards Phil
Lovely looking Loco. Can't wait to get my layout sorted to get My loco running. Rails of Sheffield have a special on atm and I gave into temptation, so I'll soon have two to run. Oh Dear...
@hollpoll How are you finding Hattons? I stopped using them because they kept boshing up our orders and or things arrived broken, and there customer service would hear nothing of it. I've found rails of Sheffield are a bit cheaper, quicker and know how to box trains :). Although Hattons has a bit more diversity in selection.
@TestValleyRailway I think you are right things have changed the old family style of business has gone to be replaced with a more corporate style of doing things. They have a big new despatch warehouse so I think they are having a few teething problems with despatch and computer hitches I only hope they are not getting too big with all the extra overheads and with the recession in Britian they bite off more than they chew. I will give Rails of Sheffield a try.
@hollpoll Yes it's a shame, it's really gone down hill since Keith passed away. I hope they fix their business model soon or I imagine it'll start declining.
Nice addition Stuart, glad to hear you have missed the worse, my sister in Harrisville has also had a fairly lucky escape, although they have lost a lot of the vines in there vinyard.
@howarth004 Thanks Dave we can't even get food at the moment supermarkets have been cleaned out and nothing is coming through, petrol is in short supply but at least the weather is behaving itself for a while
