I had a daughter that passed away at a very early age [late 20's] ---when she was a young teen ager she sung this song in the church that I pastored. I still can see her face and hear her voice singing "The Sacrifice Lamb"...It will always be in my "hall of fame" of Christian songs. This song, always touches my heart......Pastor Kennedy
Modern christian music these days is so flaky, and I'm a young guy in my 20s and I can attest to this and I have a right to actually make this statement because I do listen to this flaky music because some of the songs I enjoy just have a good beat. I don't get anything meaningful out of them however I'll admit. Music like this is not made often and I believe that this music needs to come back. They are well written and preach the gospel of Jesus our Lord. Glory to be our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
I just TOTALLY LUV this song!!! Absolutely Beautiful...Came here to try and find something on PASSOVER for a question on YAHOO ANSWERS....and Y'SHUA - I S -
THE TRUE PASSOVER LAMB of God, Who takes away the sin of the world..... I just have to hear this again before I go back to YAHOO ANSWERS....
@robinunderwater In calling catholicism a cult, not even remotely Biblical. contrary to someone else's dearly held beliefs, you are starting an argument. i am not catholic, i dont support catholicism, and i dont need a blown up discussion with you, and a catholic who stumbles on your ignorantly stated comment, on my video. thank you.
stating truth is always in contradiction of lies. no argument exists. the catholics SHOULD examine their "deeply held beliefs" that continue to keep them in chains. too many people R avoiding "Arguments" & in turn, the caholics continue on in ignorance & deceptions. The fact is, their comments stand to deceive others...& also project superiority.
This is a public forum. Not just "your video". Disable comments if you are going to censor opposing sides without vulgarity or abuse. I am perfectly within terms of service.
@robinunderwater it is not a characteristic of the Messiah to tell someone that their faith is worthless without telling why. you really think anybody reading your comment will research? no, you'll get labeled intolerant, and they'll be no better off. if youre going to make such comments, perhaps an explanation why would suffice.
@Terrybuchan Great tune! I had, back in the day, Lamb & Lamb 2.....Messianic Jews are so inspiring, as Jesus said, "salvation is of the Jews". Israel, know in the OT as the wife of Yehveh, failed to do what "the wild olive branch" i.e the gentiles, The Bride of Yeshua, to promote Israel to return to the promise given to Abraham (who, incidently, was a gentile most of his life). God would have all men to be saved by faith in Yeshua's finshed work, but its up to each individule to chose. Shalom.
I heard this on the Christian station in our town shortly after I came to know Jesus in 1981. It has been close to my heart since. There is so much doctrine in it! Thank you Jesus, for coming here to sacrifice your life for me. Thank you for almost 30 years of true LIFE and sweet forgiveness.
LAMB is one of the first Contemporary Christan bands that I enjoyed. (cassette tapes)
. Did you know that on Passover they put a lamb without spot or blemish on a cross for the burnt offering. Any scholars please correct any semantics used wrongly. GTG Glory to God
Very good to hear some of the original Lamb songs on YouTube. They are unlike the more recent. There is something special of those done in the 70s. I had this one song from Lamb 1 and the full LP Lamb 3 which was the very best ever. I recently found the Lamb 1,2 & 3 listed on Joels website as trilogy for $30. A real deal. I mainly wanted lamb 3 and this song however I found other jewels among the paste on Lamb 1 & 2.
@JephyrX YEs, :>:> I am so glad i came across this, wow...way back in the early 80's on the radio in San Antonio. I introduced it to my family. at that time a Believer's band called Blessed Hope. we started playing it around, now, I recently heard my nephews are collecting their music, and playing it!! I LOVE it. ....Ruth's song, and the other one, cant remember the title....about "can a woman forget, her nursing child.....and ah...Ephraim..I named my first born after hearing it :>:>
Sorry bout that, I signed in under my friends name on accident, just noticed it.
Have you guys always played it in the key you do? I can't find the key on my guitar, what key do you play in, if you don't mind my asking? Such a beautiful song. The Lord rocks!!!
@777hw , when I used to play this song, it was played in the key of A min, so it went from A min to C to D to F then G, so kinda in the key of A min. The chourus is slightly different. I love this song the best in the world. I remember as a kid, playing this song and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Now my cousin passed away and we used to play this song together on the guitars. This song brings so much honor and praise to our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ!!! The Lord still rocks...
@AzSniper66 Hi! I can't believe it - haven't heard this song in about 20 years!! Looked for it like mad. Key I used to do it in was simple - A minor, Have you ever heard (D minor), Messiah (F) has come (A minor) .... then same thing over .. let me know if you want me to write and send the whole thing. Cecile
@AzSniper66 hi..I play it in the key of E minor but whatever key you sing comfortably will work. Love everything by Lamb. I play it on my 12 string, just my preference, I like the "fuller" guitar song.....I can sing, but I cant hold a candle to Joel...lol...God bless :)
This song goes way back in our family. My cousin and I play this on our guitars, but we play it a bit differently and in the key of A minor, but your version is beautiful as well. Both versions have the same exact words and beat. This has been and will always be my favorite song...Jim Melton
@vwcoop I hear ya....I always loved and played it too ...in E minor like the recording....I (we) love our Savior, and theres just something special about Messianic Christians,,,Jesus himself was a Jew and He said..."salvation is of the jews....Praise yeshua!
I first heard this song and the tape album in 1975while pastoring a "Jewish-Christian Church in Southern California. I did not know Messianic churches existed. Joel's music touched my "quick" in my soul as few has. Only Keith Green would even be in the same league. I am now in Vietnam listening to Joel's music over the internet often. Thank God for the internet for we that are overseas.
Yeshua came to the world to bring us back to Eloihim ..... to be the first born among many brethren ... and to bring many sons to glory ..... Christ in us ... the hope of glory ..... Thanks for the post !

Not sure how that is an argument. Was countering the "it's a catholic leaning song" The singers are not catholic.

It's also a great Catholic leaning song! To truly understand the Catholic faith you must have a foundation in the Old Testament.

I was listening to Lamb before Christian music became so big. I listened to my sisters old 8 tracks over and over until I wore them out.

Great song, I have to nominate it as the Messianic Jewish National Anthem.
It tells of Yeshua's atonement and it was one of the first pioneering songs that brought back the Hebrew name of Jesus.
Thanks for sharing the lyrics on the video portion.
