This is very good! Although I am a little confused about the height thing...but what can you do? haha. I'm auditioning for a community production of this and I would love to be Liesl or Louisa.. any advice for me, as something that may stand out compared to other people? Obviously Projection, Singing loud enough for people to hear you etc. But other things that, after being in this show, you (or others) may know better than me?
@dogsarecool01 I assume you are a good singer. After that, come up with "16 going on 17" blocking. Think of how Liesl feels about each line in that song. Light up the stage with your body language and facial expressions. DO NOT be self conscious. IMO a director can more easily imagine how to fix something you are doing then imagine something your not doing. Get a great night sleep before the audition. See yourself getting the part. GOOD LUCK!
True, True... If you want the part do this very easy thing... "BE MARTA" and "BE LOUD" during the audition. Don't worry about looking stupid. If you're confident then all anyone who matters will think is "wow - who's that girl." And again - Good Luck!
@MikeLindsey001 Hey, i have an audition on tuesday for this, i'm auditioning for Louisa, do u have any tips on singing alone? I get extremely nervous but when i sing with other ppl i can sing on my own after it because i want to sing more but i can't seem to start off singing on my own. Is this normal? I'm really nervous for my audition, i really want to get this part. Is there anything you can suggest to help? Thank u!!! xxx
@snowyangel97 This comes from a lack of confidence that you're going to hit the correct notes. This is very common. About the only advice I have is try to find someplace to warm up right before you have to audition. Have the songs on an mp3 player and use headphones for your warm up. This should somewhat simulate the experience of having sung with other people just before you have to sing alone. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
lols I love this. I love the voice of the guy who plays Captain Von Trapp, like a sports announcer. For amateur actors they're doing a very good job. And their voices are amazing
It's not from the original, stage musical. I Have Confidence, Edelweiss at the house, Something Good were all added/created later for the movie. Some productions, like West End in 2006, will combine the two (although I hear it's difficult because of copyright) but this production is 100% the original

I don't know the ages of the kids in the Broadway musical. This was community theater so as you can imagine they do the best they can at making the kids believable in their parts.

Oh, I see. I knew that about the other two, but I guess the shows I've seen have added I have confidence. Thanks!

Lest you forget, Edelweiss is the last song to which the wonderful Hammerstein II set lyrics. He passed away in 1960

I meant Oscar Hammerstein II (I was too quick to edit my comment--my bad).

I had very small part at end - Military dude that informs Captain that he has been commissioned into the navy again.
Daughter played Marta.
Wanna see a funny play... check out "Over the River and Through The Woods" - put that one up too.

Is that the ages they always are in the broadway musical? Or did you mix them up according to how old the actors and actresses look?

MikeLindsey001 3 years ago
well i think they all look about the right ages. apart from the smallest two who could be a bit closer in age. but brilliant all the same!
PrincessMe1993 2 years ago
@EmmaOnTheSpot the only ones that were switched in order were kurt and brigetta. It's Liesl, Fredrick, Louisa, Kurt, Brigetta, Marta, and Gretl. :)
