  • Mr Sulu at 0:45

    "San Francisco...oooohhhh yeeeeessss."

  • Thats like the whole film in two minutes haha

  • Omg XD I remember that moment at 1:10 and 1:12 Spock was so bad-ass, he didn't even know it.

  • Great stuff, auld Star Trek, Loved the original series.

  • Star Trek 2 3 and 4 are the only star trek trilogy out there

  • Jesus what a tell-all trailer. Saves you having to see the movie.

  • On this day 25 years ago, Star Trek IV beamed into movie theaters. THe thing I remember most from this movie are the whales and the classic theme song which someone did for a computer music file!!!

  • SAN FRANCISCO

    0:46

  • This movie was the most entertaining to me. Not a serious one but I wouldn't mind letting my 9 year old watch it. :)

  • If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits warp 88 we'll see some serious sh*t!

  • This one was the least of my favorites. Too lighthearted, no violence, no blood, no explosions... doesn't feel like a true Trek film for it kinda sucked and boring like The Motion Picture but I still like it because it is part of the Star Trek saga anyway. The Best Star Treks were The Wrath of Khan, The Search For Spock and The Undiscovered Country in which I watch those the most out of all the Star Trek movies I own from parts 1-11 on DVD.

  • This trailer pretty much gives away the whole movie

  • you can't the next stop is the 23rd century- kirk :) haha

  • Freezee!! XD

  • double dumbass on you!! the best Star Trek movie

  • The only Trek to feature a disco ball at the end of a turd. Classic.

  • I love this movie! It's my favorite one of them all!!! <3

  • Good Movie!

  • The last movie to use the Paramount Blue Mountain logo, although Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade would use it at the end of the movie and the 2010 sing along version of Grease used a Viacom version of the logo.

  • @JONNOG88 I saw this one first and it made me a Trekkie :D

  • 0:45 funny stuff

  • This IS The Best Trek movie EVER!

  • ñ godtei muito !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This flick is so awesome, even the title is cumming by the end of this trailer!

  • what is gilliam doing in the 23rd century now

  • The scene where Sulu says "San Francisco" so happily, to me, takes on a totally different tone after what we know about George Takei. hehe :-)

  • This is my favorite movie EVER!!

  • "I must go to Earth to offer testimony."

    "You do this for friendship?"

    "I do this....because I was there."

  • Double Dumbass on 6 people

  • Hayden Panetierre wishes she could have been in this movie I'm sure. We all thank God she wasn't

  • @jayricci7891 well hes definently russian...

  • I'm watching this right now on Blu-Ray.

  • This one is definitely the best Star Trek!

  • San Fransisco. Oh myyyy.

  • i have yet to see it but i plan to the only ones i dont are the 2009 and motion picture. anyway this one seems like my favorite and i only have seen the trailer for this one, also this seems to have the best lines lol

  • I recently watched all the Star Trek movies back to back recently. The Voyage home was the one I enjoyed the most. Anyone who doesnt like this movie?

    'Well, Double Dumbass on You!'

  • @JayRicci7891 Double dumbass on you!

  • @JayRicci7891 I just watched the first ten Star Trek films for the first time, and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was the film I enjoyed the most.

  • It’s hard to pin it down to which was the best Dolby Stereo mix of 1986? This one certainly sounded awesome in THX sound system at the Empire Leicester Square via the original JBL THX 13KW sound system in 70mm Dolby Stereo SR. October 8th 1989 Star Trek all day 70mm marathon.

  • Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) Star Trek: Generations (1994) Star Trek (2009)

  • I loved this movie!!!! My all time favorite Star Trek line comes from this movie: "No, I'm from iowa, I only work in outer space." And, my second favorite: "Everyone remember where we parked." LOVE IT!!!

  • @dwood37 My favorite Star Trek lines are "Are you sure you won't change your mind?" "What's wrong with the one I have?" LOL

I also like, "Do you guys like Italian" "No" "Yes" "No" "Yes, I love Italian. And so do you." "Yes.

Of course, I'm also in love with Spock, so that might have something to do with that. LOL

I also love the dialogue when (SPOILER ALERT) Spock is dying at the end of The Wrath of Khan. That is the best Star Trek ever had.

  • @StoneKnivesBearskins "If we play our cards right, she might tell us when the whales will be released." "How will playing cards help?"

  • not a great trailer but a great movie.

  • Star Trek at its best with some great moments of humour.

  • "TO-BOLDLY-GO-WHERE-NO-TOUPEE-HAS-GONE-BEFORE!" Saw this at the pictures back in STARDATE 1986. One of the more humourous Trekkie films.

  • I am not massively into Star Trek but I enjoyed this film. What with fish out of water storyline and the fact that the actors are basically lampooning, what was then contempary Earth . It kind of brings in non-Trekkers.

  • All credit to Channel 4(Television channel in Britain) to have shown all the feature films from the Motion Picture 1979 to "Nemesis" 2003 on 10 consecutive Saturdays.

Now this weekend, they are showing them all 10 films over 2 days!!!!

  • Paramount:

YOU RUINED THE GODDAMN MOVIE FOR ME!

  • Love it when Spock knocks out the puck rocker on the bus.

  • @HUSKY57887 yup and the actor who played the rocker was the guy who wrote the song.

  • 1986 IS NOT A STARDATE!! YOU STUPID PIE........ oh sorry, I had a trekkie relapse... won't happen again.

  • i just watched the entire movie in two minutes.

  • LDS

  • I love Star Trek-The Voyage Home..

    Save The Whales!!!

  • Great Film!!! Star Trek from Space!!!

  • This is the only Star Trek movie I've ever seen. It's awseome.

  • One of the best Star Trek films. The only bad thing about it is the music, it doesn't fit. James Horner's score was so much better.

  • This is the last of Spock's situation. Kerry Beyer likes whales. :D

  • Wait. did that trailer just give away the whole ending?

  • @Schluffy No, just that a probe attacks earth, Kirk and friends travel back in time to find an answer, hilarity ensues, something about whales, and they attempt to go back to the future... oh wait! I think you're right!

  • @Schluffy That trailer was horrible. Basically one of those poorly done 80's trailers that give you the entire movie in two minutes.

This idea was revived in 2000 with films like Castaway.

    Sucks.

  • First film of the original cast I saw

  • My favourite Star Trek film. :D

Watched it when I was a kid and you won't believe the waves of nostalgia I get from it.

  • That's gotta be a Borg probe. It explains so much things that are missing when you watch regenration, this and the best of both worlds, and everything falls into place.

  • @andyb9275 uh not even close.

  • This was such a funny movie. With the "colorful metaphors" and all.

  • BEST...TREK FILM...EVER!!!!! 8D

  • For some reason I really like this one, i can't stop watching it! I think the songs are cool, even at the end. I never thought I see kirk commanding a klingon ship. Also the alien probe looks like some kind of giant hostess choclate cake. lol!

  • The trailer has a lot of spoilers that could have been avoided

  • Second ONLY to Wrath, this movie kicks ass right out of the box with it's time travelling idea. Spock mind melding with a Humpback whale seals the deal!

  • I love this movie. In 1986 Kirk is walking across a street in Frisco and almost gets plowed by a Taxi cab.

(cab driver) "Why don't you watch where your going you dumbass?"

(Kirk throws up his hand) "Well a double dumbass on you") LMFAO that was so funny.

  • The Trek triology (2+3+4) is the best triology there is!

  • thats a trailer? its like the whole movie

  • @kurtisrbell hahaha so true. It was the eighties, they did weird stuff back then.

  • It would have been better if they had to go back and get a Dodo bird.

  • The 4th Star Trek Movie is the best Star Trek Movie of all time!

  • Personally, I think that ST4 was just a front for the "Antiwhaling" movement. I mean, they could've said that they needed someone like T'Pol who would actually know how to speak that language. Or maybe Doctor Who. that would be cool.

  • @L3wa part true. The rest was a environmental thing. The people today messed up things for the people tomorrow

  • 2 thing, why r they flying a klingon ship? and y is scott so old :(

  • @cokefan3 It's explained in Search for Spock: SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT!SPOILER ALERT! The classic 5 (Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, Chekov, and Sulu) stole the Enterprise and blew it up in a ploy to capture a Klingon Bird of Prey to use to pick up Uhura (who had been busy covering their escape) at Vulcun, and drop off Spock (who they picked up from the planet after Spock "died" in Wrath of Khan) Scotty's old because...well...he was already 50ish during TOS and this is 10-20 years after that, so...

  • Can I state the obvious here? (clear throat) THIS IS THE BEST STAR TREK MOVIE THERE EVER WAS!! (too bad it's also the last one that was worth a damn).

  • No. Star trek 6 was a good movie also with it's relevant story about those who aren't accepting of peace with old enemies and as a farewell to the original crew.

  • @mummra4ever

The old crew of the Enterprise is the best!!! Kirk, Uhura, Spock, McCoy, Scott, Zulu, Chekov! Great Cast!

  • Well I do prefer the old TOS movies over the TNG ones even though I do kind of like "First contact" and TNG is my favourite trek series. Star trek 2 is my favourite trek movie as well as one of my favourite films of all time.

  • Yes one of the best Star Trek films. I quite liked the newest one too.

  • I agree! Clearly the best Star Trek movie ever!

  • funniest movie ever

  • Ah the old days when movie trailers would actually give you some hint as to what the movie is about rather than shoving explosions and cliche lines in your face for 30 seconds and a title fade-in

  • Are there any clips showing the time - travel sequence to reach the past, OR when George & Gracie swam out of the Bird of Prey cargo bay & sang to the probe ??

  • Save the whales, someday they'll save you!

  • SUBSCRIBE

  • Of the 11 star trek movies, this is one of the best for sure. Even my friends who don't care for trek like this movie. "Number 4, thats the one with the whales right?" That movie rocks

  • @sirjohnrambo

It's been 23 ( ? ) - something years since this movie showed in theaters, & it's the best one with the original cast, & it came at a time when I needed something uplifting.

  • Your from outer space?

No i'm from Iowa i only work in outer space

    good one Jim

  • I loved this movie the best, because it was the most light-hearted.

Then again, it was a Nimoy film. He also directed "Three men and a baby" and you can tell it is his style ^^

    "Nuclear wessels"

  • "3 men and a baby" was originally a french movie. Nimoy hadn't much to do. As much as I admire him, I must say that the american version is not as funny and cute as the original

  • This I know, but a director does not write a film, he directs it.

Nimoy had a LOT to do. Directing any film, even one that has been made before- is a lot fo work and requires a hefty amount of personal artistic input.

Watching the original Trois Hommes' and the American remake, you can tell they have different styles.

  • @Treemeadow what even funny was that the police officer just kept starring at him like: what the F*** are you talking about @Nuclear Wessels.

  • The trailer just gave away the whole movie!

  • I was thinking the same thing!

  • *SQEEE!!!!!** I LOVE SPOCK!!!1

  • look no further ... THIS WAS THE BEST.

  • they make it appear a lot more serious...

  • They deliberately made ST IV " lighter " in tone because of the dark, serious nature of ST II & III

    I LOVED THIS ONE !

  • I know...but this trailer makes it look more serious...no nucler wessels

  • Trailers don't always give away everything.

At any rate, this was a FANTASTIC movie. I wish that they showed it more on TV. You can't even find it in the DVD's anymore.

  • Yea you can! xD

  • @AmSay8D

    Where ? on hulu ?

  • It's got the humour and umph of TOS. 8D

  • Damn Straight..... !!!

It's gotta be the best of the OS Star Trek movies.

  • finding whales is serious business

  • Ahh... back when trailers actually told you something about the movie!!

  • I love this movie so freaking much.

  • great film, i wonder what happened to the bord of prey did they slavage it or give it back to the klingons after the peace conference? or did kirk keep it in his back yard

  • The ship was salvaged, along with the cloaking technology to which the Federation used to further increase their ability to detect cloaked ships.

  • The older I get the more this one becomes the favorite.

  • the voyage home is my favorite

  • mine to

  • So this was set just before the Eugenic War? They should have nipped over to India, and taken Khan out there and then. It would've saved them all that pissing about, searching for Spock.

  • This ST is also my favorite film, fantastic!

  • This was my favorite ST film as a kid.

  • How long is this movie? I wanna watch it-but I'm not really a big Star Trek Fan,so I don't want to sit through 5 hours of something I don't like:) Love you Chekov!

  • It's almost 2 hours long. But this is a fun and excellent film. You'd like it, promise!

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe 1 hour 45 minutes.

  • Um, the J.J. Abrams movie definitely had a better plot than The Voyage Home. To begin with, the movie didn't revolve around going back in time, snatching up some pregnant whales, and then bringing them back to the 23rd century where they could communicate with a probe.

Also, you need to quit bitching. It was an alternate series of events because Nero fucked up the timeline, so clam down if it doesn't follow TOS or the movies. Jeez.

  • Ding ding, here comes the clue train, last stop SagenAppreciationSoc. Just because he changed things making it an alternate reality doesn't mean he pissed all over Star Trek. And as for "checking to see if he got the basic science down", what the hell do you think TOS was? A science text book. Hell, in one of the equations Kirk said "One to the fourth power." Oh, I don't really see how education comes into play here, but if you would like, I'm free to kick your ass in that department as well.

  • >"Oh, I don't really see how education comes into play here, but if you would like, I'm free to kick your ass in that department as well."

You have no idea, do you?

    >"Ding ding, here comes the clue train, last stop SagenAppreciationSoc."

Here's a clue for you. You'd be less apt to think you can challenge me in science education, if perhaps, you had managed to spell the name correctly.

  • I think I'm saying this on behalf of everyone who's reading these comments..... SHUT THE FUCKING HELL UP. Who gives a shit if his science isn't perfect, it was a fecking brilliant film and it had IMAGINATION. Something you obviously lack.

  • There is nothing dumbed down about the movie, you self-righteous bitch. I happen to love both the original series AND the movie. Sounds to me from your attitude that YOU are the one that needs to 'get stuffed'.

  • Oh yeah, and just saying WARP SPEED.

Yup, we travel the speed of light and even faster!

Why? Because fuck you Einstein, that's why.

  • Actually, what they were trying to do was create an explosion to propel the Enterprise away from the black hole they had just created. Although, I do see what you're saying because by injecting it with a the Warp Core would have increased the mass, not to mention gravitational pull of the black hole.

    "Wikipedia?"

    No, it's called school.

"The obvious escapes you, even still. The problem isn't merely your spelling, but not recognizing the context"

It's called a typo, people make them.

  • Also, when did I call you Asian?

  • this movie was so......diffrent from the previous movies I mean they save whales, not fight khan or klingons or meet some bald lady who is really a robot looking for Vger

  • I lol @ Sulu saying "San Francisco."

  • we have to travel in time to save the whale....

    grate plot!

  • Grate spelling!

(It's great if you don't get it).

  • It's a better movie than you'll ever make! BTW I can't wait 'till the next movie comes out.

  • I won't be making any movies, but if i were, it wouldn't be crap. JJ crapped all over Trek canon, violated the known laws of physics as if he had a 4th grade education (apparently JJ knows nothing about mass and gravity) and worst of all, it did the unthinkably stupid: going back in time and changing thing such that two of the same characters exist. So they explain it away with "parallel timelines". What crap. And Kirk wasn't Kirk at all - at least the other actors had some small handle on them.

  • It's something different.

  • this movie was hilarious. definitely my favorite.

  • "no, i'm from iowa. I only work in outerspace." LOL

This movie is the best in my opinion. Spock's "colorful metaphors" and stuff. It's hilarious. "Hello computer!"

  • I don't care what anyone says, I loved this movie. :)

  • I saw it :D it was funny and i liked it alot

  • this is one of the coolest movies i´ve ever seen! Spock with the headband swimming with whales, Kirk trying to make a deal in the antique shop in order to get "a lot of" money, Pavel and Uhura asking for nuclear vessel,... just incredible moments :))

  • this is a test for you

  • THE FUNNIEST STAR TREK FILM EVER MADE

  • @deathwishtaco I agree, this movie probably has the most funny parts, like the one where chekov was captured on the navy ship and he is arguing with this guy about names, lol.

  • This movie is genius, it's hilarious! A Star Trek comedy, brilliant!

  • this movie made over a 1.9 million bucks (a LOT for 1986)...it was #1 in the box office for a while too...hey man don't diss....besides it's my favorite movie of the all the star trek movies.

  • I hate to burst your illusion there Jillian, but Star Trek IV grossed $109,713,132 dollars at the U.S. box office. That's 109 million dollars not 1 million 9 hundred dollars.

And a movie that makes $109 million dollars by todays standards is STILL a lot of money.

For god sakes the thing cost $27,000,000 to make. If it had grossed 1.9 mil it would have been the biggest cost to profit dud in history.

It grossed $133 million world wide.

  • And this film was nominated for 4 Academy Awards.

  • Are you KIDDING?!! This and First Contact are two of the very best Star Trek movies.

  • General consensus would tell you many people favoured this movie in the Star Trek legacy..... perhaps you aren't a Trekker

  • the "best" of all movies...It was perfect.

  • first contact was just shooting Borg, and i still dont get why the Borg wanted to assimilate primitive humans...

my fav is VI. the TNG movies just had Picard and Data go after a villain that threatens millions. very uninspired.

  • "Excuse me, sir! Can you direct us to the naval base in Alameda? It's where they keep the nuclear wessels." :)

  • This Star Trek was an attack on the greed, stupidity and rudeness of the 80's. It blasted the selfish Me Generation. (Notice only the girl and a few other care about something besides themselves, and this is what drove the whales to near extinction)
