Wow, the way you sing is amazing and I have to say as well, hearing you sing this will help me alot on my solo for next week at competition thank you so much. Keep up the amazing work your doing! :D
Great job. I'm a little puzzled as per your choices of places where you breathe in the Caldara piece, otherwise seriously nice job for a High School performance.
David, great voice! I agree with the other comments that suggest you might be a tenor; though your bass notes are nice and rich as well. I hear an element of Andrea Bocelli in your voice. Your tone and vibrato are quite similar to his at times. Keep singing!!
beautiful voice.... well done, but I have the feeling you are not bass baritone. I might be wrong. But seems to me that you can sing way higher than that
im doing both of these songs in voice class at my high school (except im a saprano1) it sounded a lil like you were strainging ur voice at the very btm note of sebben but otherwise you were great =)
you have fine voice! Though you were a bit tense during Sebben Crudele (I didn't even listen that other song). Do you think you still have the notes for Sebben Crudele? I will be really thankful if you could share them with me.
I sound very cool and powerful but you need to practice diction that was my only problem with and you kind of looked angry and you do this song alot faster then i do so it sound really rush to me like i want to get this over with lol but some people do it at there different speeds. but your bass range is awesome though im currently working on Gia il Sola dal Gange you did alot bet on this song you look a lot more approachable lol.
one thing..for the second piece try adding a little more emotion..seems a little dry..listen to one of pavarotti's recital where he sings it if u dont get where im coming from..im a singer too and i've sung this piece so just take that tip to better your performance..
I'm singin' Gia Il Sole dal Gange for Solo and Ensemble this year and going to hopefully go to state with it! But...I like your voice and I think you're very cute! :) lol
Nice try, but you're never going to make tone unless you brighten up the voice. Bass baritone? You gotta be kidding me, more like high baritone/tenor EASILY. You need to get yourself a real teacher.
Good voice... but you MUST roll your R's. Your tone should not be so straight for this song, as it is an aria and vibrato should build naturally into it. You also look in severe pain... I take it you were nervous or didn't like the songs?
Beautiful voice, it looks as if he's really nervous.;) should work on facial expression in that beautiful face of him, to communicate better the meaning of the songs.
Nice tone, but I feel like you really want to let it be known that you're a bass. When I watch past performances of myself I can definitely see that as well, so it's normal for us basses to do it, but you need to sing the low notes with the lightness of the high notes and the high notes with the resonance of the low notes. Otherwise a nice performance.
Very well done! Sounds lovely, and i know these songs! I have sung both of them daily for over two years. One thing I noticed, especially in Sebben was your italian pronounciation. This is hard, especially on a sad, slow song but try listening to Cecilia bartoli and try and mimic her pronounciation. The trick is to really go for consonants like Rs and if you hear italians speak, they sort of throw their words upwards. Their pronounciation is very light. Otherwise its reallt lovely.
I Love your tone! Its really great, i am going to let you know that i definitley agree with what tiernan87 and id also like to add on to make sure your keeping your shoulders relaxed, i can tell your fairly tense, because your shoulders are raising when you breathe, a lot. Apart from that i really loved your preformance!
excellent job. a few things: allow your arms to be loose, not clasping hands. it expands the rib cage and allows for more support. you have a beautiful tone. now, maximize that by sending the sound forward to achieve a more resonant sound; it won't sound as throaty. a way to work on that is to hang over limp, sometimes called "rag-doll". sing a passage and feel how that posture sends the sound high and forward and creates a more brilliant sound. Hope this helps! Keep working! You have promise.
i am currently studying for my B.M. in Vocal Performance. I don't sing with any professional companies, but I have auditioned quite a bit simply for experience, since i'm not looking to be cast. i want to finish school first. I've done master classes with Joseph Levitt and Keith Brautigam. I'm currently preparing Papageno in magic flute, and i've sung giovanni in scenes from don giovanni. a young baritone trying to hone his craft. haha.
very nice singing, but I think you should work on the pronunciation, to make it more clear, more crisp. And try not to go so much on the "oh" sounds... otherwise, you are a talent. ;)
i'm sorry...haha...WHAT?! unfortunately, in the world of opera, looks dont' get you very far. talent does. it's not hollywood. if you dont' have the voice, you're not cast. end of story.
BAHAHAHA! clearly my friend, you've not been to an opera. and if you have, next time, take along some opera glasses. that being said, it seems of late, many opera stars are quite attractive, but the voice is what got them the job.
I must congratulate you for your argumentation style. Every time somebody says something that you disagree with, you attack the person, you laugh at them, you tell them they are ignorant. That's not very intelligent. You're so quick to attack the person that you didn't even notice what I wrote exactly. I did not say "all singers", I did not say "to have a career". I said "he will go far" and "looks is all that matters in opera". That doesn't mean all singers are good looking.
Allow me to apologize. Let's try again: I must respectfully disagree with your opinion. Being involved in the business, I must say looks are not all that matter in opera. There are many good looking divas and divos(Anna Netrebko and Dmitri Hvorostovsky being examples), but that is not what gets them their job. I'm sure you are an intelligent individual with years of experience in the realm classical voice, but I have not seen evidence to support the claim that looks are all that matter in opera.
one does not have to be an opera singer to have an opinion on the correlation between good looks and recording contracts. I will rephrase "all that matters" into my original phrase "good looks will make him/her/whoever go far". (farther than bad looks) And bad singers with good looks will go farther than plain-to-ugly good singers.
I'm sorry. But not in opera. Did you ever see Pavarotti? Or Joan Sutherland? Or Montserrat Caballe? None of them are what you'd consider good looking and attractive, yet they are hailed as the greatest voices in opera of all time. I respect what your saying, and yes, i think that that can be true in some areas, but NOT opera. If you have the voice, you will get the part. that's opera. a director will never cast a good looking singer over a bad looking singer based on looks. it's the voice.
Haha, both you guys are funny. It seems that if you have a good enough voice, you're good to go. But, if you have the voice and the looks, it seems that people have an easier time.
Damn good singing man im singin this song for my solo and ive been flippen through some vids...found a few good ones but this one by far my favorite. Keep up the good work...Oh yea did you win the scholarship?
"Sebben, Crudele" was one of my first songs ever. I liked that last note. :) I also remember doing "Gia il Sole dal Gange." Nice job. The only thing I'd suggest is work a tad on dynamics... even though you did this a while back. You should try doing the ornamentation on those songs. I'll bet it'd sound really nice.
To be very honest, I have no clue why anyone is giving you any advice in their comments. You do very well, and while each singer probably has something he or she could work on, you are beyond the point of having to establish your technique. There are many things many of the greats could still be working on, but they are there because they have a great voice as do you. I am impressed, and thought right away "oh how fun would it be to do a duet with this guy" LOL. Keep up the good work.
i'm sorry, NO ONE has "established" their technique. it's a life-long process. and constructive criticism is helpful and pivotal in the development of a young voice. yes he's very good, but advice is always good to have. that's the point of master classes and studio classes when you're studying vocal performance, to receive constructive criticism.
you have a beatiful voice with a well developed strength. the only comment i would make is to not sit on your lower notes, as in not to get too chesty. its very rare that you do that. otherwise, you didn't show any signs of nerves and performed so well! i've also sang sebben crudele and it's one of my favorite pieces! loved listening to you!
your voice is nice it needs to be forwarded u sing from the back. sebben crudele was nice. gia il need to brighten up alot seperate ur notes a lil better. iv studied these two songs for about a year now dont let there simpelisity fool you them r extreamly diffucalt to sing with focos and energy. great work
i really like your "sebben crudele." as i've said before, your voice is beautiful and unusual. however, i would say that even though it's slow and mostly minor, it could use a little more energy behind it. and i think also you could probably be a little more expressive with your hands, but other than that it's great! in "gia il sole," again the voice is wonderful, but your mouth and shoulders seem tense. more energy would be great here as well, but otherwise awesome!! great job!
I myself have sung both pieces for a local festival, and I must admit, Your Gia il Sole is among the most supportive and beautiful I've heard. As for your Sebben, the only thing thing I could pick at would be your Pronunciation of R's.
