@joystick006 hes been outta business? i checked his blog part of his site and he has a pretty recent post about just selling the sportsman trap. and i did check trapper arne out his traps look pretty good to and i did "purchase" one but it was suppose to come friday the 13th and im still waiting on it... im hoping it comes today
@eryman17 and hey i appreciate all the advice btw im just hoping to get some nicer traps so i can catch some decent numbers this year because the frabill ones dont seem to work all that well
@bvchg Ebay is a good place to check out the styles and prices, just beware of shipping fees. The black cylinder style works well and they are available in most sporting goods / hardware stores. Best o' luck to ya
@bvchg im 17 tfishing and crayfishing, t moey for good ones, you can make your own very easy and itll cost way cheape to make more than one. just go to lowes or home depot buy so wire mesh and tip ties and tin snips and your all ste. its easy if i can do it so can you
We are back home from the river now but I found out that the dock we were buggin' from was out of the water (like 40 feet to the waters edge) since October and only came up 3 weeks ago then was lowered for a week for flood control. It only fully came up the week before we arrived. I'm guessing the crawdads had not moved up to the rocks we were over. I'll try somewhere else in a few weeks. Thanks for the help. I'll try the licorice for sure.
OK. we keep catching smallmouth bass with crawdads in them so I know crawdads are around. I have my pots soaking under the dock in about 8 to 10 feet of water amongst some rocks. bait in 1 pot is small mouth bass the other is bass and loose dog food. very slow current on the river. why no crawdads yet I wonder? Any hints that might help?
I'm buying my boys a crawdad trap today. Thanks for the 2 videos. I'll bait with the small small mouth bass we caught last night. (Actually found crawdad claw parts in the bass' stomach.)How long do you leave the traps before checking them? May have more questions later.
@SoCalRenegade69 whats up socal, to the best of my knowledge "bugs" become dormant in the winter. I've heard some stories about people pulling them up while ice fishing but I think they just get snagged
Usually I let em soak overnight (10 hrs +-), normally I fish until sunset and put em out just before I leave, then out real early the next morning to pull. That way they aren't so tempting to "less than honest" people.
Do you know where I can buy the plastic looking funnels that were on two of the traps? Also, I couldn't understand who they were made by?

what are the trap brands?
MrSoxFan99 2 years ago
ise a 1 and 1/9 inch hole big enough?
daiton64 2 years ago
I would probably enlarge them, maybe to 1- 3/4 (?) I wouldn't go any bigger than 2", might make it to easy for them to escape. Good luck Dave
joystick006 2 years ago
thnx. i saw one today and i might have to cut the holes a bit bigger tho

What an awesome, genuine video! Loved it. It's fun to see how other ppl trap crawfish. That looks like a signal crawfish, I could be wrong.
GREAT WORK!
