Why does the audio never match the video? I have to assume the worst -- that the audio is at least partly punched in from a studio take. I'd much prefer the "dirty" but authentic live version!
I will see her this Thursday at the Met. I am very courius to see her and the tenor Wookyung Kim performing together (he is pretty famous). However the best performance I have seen so far for "La Traviata" was sung by soprano Tiziana Fabbricini and Roberto Alagna at Teatro alla Scala in Milan under the greatest conductor of all times (after Arturo Toscanini), Riccardo Muti.
Try watching the great film with Teresa Stratus and Placido Domingo!! That is definatly the best performance of this opera so far!! My second favourite Traviata (on Video) is the one with Alagna and Fabbricini!! And I agree that Muti the greatest conductor since Toscanni(maybe together with Karajan)
Agree with tremendousswell. Saw her Traviata at the Met last year and she lives the part on stage. Not quite perfect singing but so close that it didn't matter. Another Total Theater performer.
Check her out in July 2006 Opera News magazine. She has an amazing career. I've seen her live many times and she puts tremendous energy into everything that she does.

Well it does need to be sung by an opera singer...not by someone trying to popup opera like Lara Fabian, which is who I assume you are referencing

let me disagree. I heard Lara Fabian doing this aria. Maybe i'm conservative but I think one should have minimum requirements to do such things.

She is not terrific, i think she has the feeling that an opera singer needs to sing this aria.
