Hey Brian...nice video...questions...when setting up for m/s do you need to address the fixtures differently? Also, can you m/s out of sequence? Meaning if I have the master fixture on a truss say on the right side and then link some cans next then have the slave fixture on the left side of the truss would it work?
@djpumpinpaul Usually, you have to buy your own DMX cables. Sometimes you get them free with your lights, but most of the time, yeah you gotta pick up your own DMX cables. Accu Cable is decent stuff and recomended to use with ADJ lights, but will work with virtually any brand
@zacktkscwboy get the chauvet obey 3 controller and set all fixtures to dmx address 1 after you link them from controller to light to light with DMX cable.
@ljmike1204 I don't know why there is a limit. It probably has something to do with the signal streingth. Keep in mind that most of the time, you can master/slave 50+ lights together so the limits don't really matter for Mobile guys.
Actually xlr and dmx cables are slightly different, dmx is for carrying data only so has different shielding and impedance (40 - 50 ohms higer than xlr). Although you can use them interchangeably, its not recommended as it can cause glitches and errors in your fixtures (and i have even heard stories of permanent damage). Also bear in mind that there are two variants of dmx cable, 3 and 5 pin (which is generally used on higher end fixtures).
Hi brain I am thinking about getting some moving heads. How do you like the vizi spot I think you have had them for a year know. Do you think they have what it take for a big room I just can not tell on the videos? I just do not want to spend all this money and be disapointed? Can you do one more video on the vizi spot / moving head. One again Thanks for your help!!
@briansredd : Brian, could you please do a demo of the Vizi spots in a football stadium? I want to know if they are bright enough to cover a football stadium. :oP
@gc53dfgc As with most lights, it's best to do them in the dark. The Hot Water/Wherehouse video I did with the VIZI's had some house lights on and you could still see everything pretty good
Yeah it's a shame that the Junior High I do them for require the back lights to be on makes almost all of my current effects not show up on the back wall and very little on the ceilling do to"PDA" which is strange to me as the High School that I am going to and am trying to get them to let me do the lighting for the homecoming dance and others because between you and me the lights the DJ's showed up with at the dance were very inadequate and unprofessional had the lights off.
the simple vids are great. There are djs out there that might be nervous about asking questions that maybe he or she should know. Kinda remind me of your older vids Brian. Good Job. Keep it old school :)
Can i do this with the American DJ Mega Flash DMX?

@MrBuzzel7 You should be able to do them with just about any DMX fixture. Just check your manual for master/slave settings

Does this work the same way if I have the blizzard bars? The long mega bar LEDS does the DMX cable come with it?
