This month I am riding a small pony. She is 13hh , I am 5'5 . I like riding small ponies but also enjoy the big horses. I tend to fit the taller and fatter horses than the skinny ones.

I've allways liked riding smaller horses actually. I'm kindof a slender person so it's easier for me if the horse is lower to the ground and narrow. It's not bad to stand in the seat, it's acually a very stable way to ride. I'd love to have a 12 or 13 hh poney.

yeah most if the time it is, because they have longer strides so are generally easier to rise to the trot on etc. And thanks, pink bridle i got at local tack shop, they are quite common, same with saddle cover. :)

Haha, If I tried to do that off my 16hh horse. Wow... It's not that he'd mind much (He's a been there, done that, everything horse), but I would fall on my butt and it could end in much pain for me. :)

ok im guna explain a few things-- yes i fully admit that im too tall for sally, but i weigh exactly 6 and a half stone and shetlands are known for being able to carry at least 10 stone. i dont show her we hack. I rescued her from an abusive home where she was regularly ridden by 12 stone adults. she has been checked by saddler, vet, riding instructor etc. all of whom say its ok to ride her. and i dont need so called 'youtube advice' by someone who has never met either of us and cant spell.thanks

Also she isn't too big for that pony you cretin, they used to carry men and work in coal mines, I think that is a little bit harder than a young girl.
